Politics and Religion

You are almost certainly correct

Of course that means Obama will go from far left to far far left while McCain will go from right center to somewhere around center, an outcome we can all live with.

McCain does have to worry about going too far right to appease the religious right and losing the swing votes in the middle.

Conservatives are such idiots because they STAND FOR less government to allow the individual to succeed.  They are also fascist, war-mongering-hawks attacking nations without just cause.  I am so much smarter than Republicans.

Liberals are such morons because they STAND FOR more government to help aid people in need.  They are also a bunch of pussified, flag-burning-doves that will sit on their hands and wait for America to get attacked again.  I am so much smarter than Democrats.

Who am I?  I'm a 3rd-party independent guy.  I sit on the sidelines and smugly mock both sides.  Those idiots have beliefs and values. I believe in nothing so I'm smarter.  The best part of this is that I support candidates and policies that will never see the light of day.  So I can never be proven wrong since I only support things that will never happen. That is why I'm brilliant and they are dumb.  They both support candidates and policies that may have an impact.  If there ever actually is a realistic 3rd party candidate I'll have to find a really cool 4th party for all the smart people to support.

PEROT/VENTURA in 08!!!  Or is it Nader/Larouche this year? Whatever.

you are talking about liberals aren't you

When you do start voting someday, strut into the polling place and give them a made up alias, instead of the name you are known by.  That way you can pretend you are doing something, without anyone associating you with your actions or opinions.  You don't have to actually pull any levers or punch any cards or electronically make a choice.  Just act like you are voting, so all the surrounding people can glaze at your participation.

Don't forget to wear your "I Voted" button afterwards, as that can be worn by anyone, not matter who you voted for, or if you even voted at all.  Wear it upside.  That way you are expressing something as one face in a crowd of anonymity and all the new friends you make that day will have to turn their heads in awkward ways to read it.  What a cut-up you are!

Then you can explain to them how the voting process works and how you casted a secret ballet, but you can't say who you voted for, because it wouldn't be a secret then.  Unless the other person states who they voted for first, and if you like them enough to fuck them or partner up with them in a racquet sport, then you can simply say you voted for the same guy they did.  What a coincidence!

Yeah, you are right.  Politics is a lot like that.  Especially "either or" party politics.  You definitely have them pegged, in attitude and representation.

Independents will never have a candidate that they can get behind 100%, it will always seem like choosing between a turd sandwich and a giant douche.

There is a big difference between sitting on the sidelines acting superior and being a realist by admitting that we don't live in a fair world.

This election puts many of us in this position including many unfamiliar with it. The Obama supporters by and large are like Moosie, they are Kool aid drinkers that genuinely believe in their guy.

OTOH You'll be hard pressed to find any genuine McCain supporters, most people who are planning to vote for McCain cannot be classified as McCain "supporters" Even staunch Republicans don't really care for him. These are the people that are in unfamiliar territory. I've been voting for the least offensive candidate for most of my life. I am accustomed to it. For true Republicans they are going to have to suck it up and vote for someone they don't really like because the alternative is just too scary to consider.

I hope, just for once that rational thought will trump raw emotion. My only way to vote against Kerry was to vote for Bush, but even I admit that Bush won because of the gay marriage issue. What a poor excuse for informed voter we are when an issue like gay marriage decides a presidency. I hope we do better this time, and recognize Obama for who he really is.

McCain may Republican, he is about as good of Independent we are going to get any time soon. Agree with GA on all with just addition, McCain has to say what he has to get the Evangelical block and the right wing. The man has mind of his own and will do what is right for the country.

Obambi on the other hand changes as the the direction of the wind changes.  If he had served couple of terms in the US Senate and gotten few years of experience, I could have voted for him but no way I am going to vote for someone who hasn't done anything. Moreover, he makes up his accomplishments from very little involvement.

Republicans may not like McCain but I seriously doubt they want to put Obambi in the White House by sitting home.

That's not saying very much!!  According to most of the long term top name calling posters here, you are either a pinko-commie libbie OR a right-wing, knee-jerk, drunken, sodomite-loving republicon. Take your pick!
