swing state Dems elected in 2018 mid-terms has announced his defection. Jeff Van Drew from New Jersey has decided to switch his party affiliation from Dem to Republican because he can't follow Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler off the plank and sacrifice his own budding political career by TOFTT by voting for impeachment. He's already met with Trump who has endorsed the move and will help campaign for his re-election in 2020.
This sends both a message and a question to the other 30 freshman Congressmen about what might happen if they follow Pelosi's orders to impeach Trump. If there are 14 of the 30 refusing to vote for impeachment and essentially throw away their political careers, the impeachment vote fails this week. Lets see how many more of these swing-state Reps ask for a meeting with Trump before the vote, or else just quietly vote Nay when the roll is called.
My guess is that their won't be enough to stop impeachment in the House, but what ever the actual number is, I am willing to bet that number will be a LOT bigger than the number of Reps voting for impeachment.
I wonder if any of them will just take the cowardly Obama way out and simply vote Present?

It will be interesting to see how many wait until the last minutes to push their button in order to see how others have voted (votes are displayed on a large board as they come in that show how each member voted). The Congressman in question had already said he wouldn't vote for impeachment. Having already doomed himself in the party he had nothing to loose. Now let's see if he gets primaried.

Here is what I think is much more likely to happen in next year's election. The outraged Dims in the district are going to find the wackiest, most socialist, loony tune to nominate to run against him and with the full 100% support from Trump and the GOP Drew will cruise to victory virtually, or even literally running unopposed in the primary, and slaughtering whatever loopy lib the Dims throw at him in the general.
You are right about one thing, he had ZERO chance getting the nomination as a Dim, but as a Rep he should win by 10+ points in 2020. I did love that the very FIRST vote he cast as a Congressman, was to vote AGAINST Nancy Pelosi for Speaker.
At least 5 and possibly 7 of his staff have resigned, leaving only one staffer in his DC office, and the Rep. candidate for his seat called him a "weasel."
The other one simply called him "desperate"
I don't see either statement being particularly newsworthy considering both of these people are vying for Drew's Seat.
As for his staff, I am sure he will find more, and better people to work for him now that he rapidly becoming a household name. With Trump sure to support his 2020 run, I think the smart money is on Drew, which of course does NOT include you.

I have had scientists studying Wu for some time and they can't be sure whether he was born without a sense of humor, had it atrophy away from years of misuse, or had it surgically removed.
