Conservatives having a meltdown. Trump sides with Schumer and Pelosi  for 3 month increase on the debt ceiling. Ryan and McConnel are pissed. I guess this is trumps way of getting back at his "own" party for not getting things done, like health care. Now republicans are on the hot seat, disown and bail on trump or????

...Dealmaking Donny wrote the book on it.  But Dickhead Donny doesn't know dick about dealmaking in politics so vets Schumer and Pelosi ate his lunch...then promptly threw up (who the fuck can eat that fast food crap Trump eats?)

A conservative POV & a liberal POV.  Not surprisingly, they both agree:

He's never been anything close to a real Republican and has always leaned much more to the moderate or left.  How in the fuck is anyone surprised by this?  In fact, nothing that Trump has done since taking office is really surprising at all.  This is the way he does things and it achieves his No. 1 goal -- putting himself at the center of attention at all times.

And, this is one of his MO's. Pitting people against each other, while he looks on from the sidelines. It may have worked, well enough, in his family business, but it's not working out, so well, with his administration, nor his agenda.

My two cents.  Apparently FEMA may have run out of money without the funding approval by this weekend.  Without the 3 month on the debt ceiling it was not clear whether FEMA could spend the money.  So instead of dicking around for a few days while IRMA moves toward Florida and maybe getting more than 3 months he took the 3 months.  Could he have gotten the 18 months the R's wanted - probably tough and would involve a public fight.  The D's apparently showed no sign of moving off the 3 months in the meeting.  Could it also be a shot across the bow of Ryan and McConnell that he has no idea what they could actually deliver?  Maybe that too.

I look forward to a big fight in December and if necessary a government shutdown if a true compromise can't be reached.  If the D's want that fight and want to be shown as inflexible, bring it on.

So any GOP supporter who thinks a government shutdown is possible.
If they don't get their way, is a fool.

Just imagine the GOP animal house shutting down the government, during the holiday season.
You will be playing right into the liberals hands, going into 2018. Lol

He was clearly a liberal New Yorker.  Everything he does now is merely posturing for future actions.  He wants to be loved so of course he will -- as you say -- "pander" to some on the far right.  Just like now when he goes the other way to appeal to moderates and independents with the recent support of a Pelosi/Schumer idea. He only ran as a Republican because he saw a clearer path to a nomination by going with that Party.

He is by far the worst person and least prepared man who has ever served as our President.  His election was a terrible thing.  I can't stand the guy.  But, he got elected and now we must deal with him until his term is concluded.

And just because the new Supreme Court Justice is a conservative does not make him a "wacko." Even most of those Senators who voted against his confirmation clearly did so for political reasons and not because they questioned his morals, his ability and his worthiness for the Court.

But, small-minded thinkers like you will only see things one way.  Par for the course . . . .

the suicidal tendency story is solid proof that you knew you were wrong and are trying your damnedest to justify the stupid thing you said.

I've never been "butt hurt" over any stupid thing that comes out of your mouth or your keyboard.  You are incapable of hurting or humiliating anyone.  And since you treat this board as a daily cockfight, that must really piss you off.

Trump is a New Yorker. You're reaching on liberal part. Trump is like me, a moderate who leans right. Trump haters should be nervous that he gave the congressional democrats something to chew on. I don't see raising the debt ceiling as a victory for the democrats or a lose for republicans. A great president finds a way to work with both sides of the aisle.

Desperation is the perfect word. He cannot come to terms with his own party so he now crawls back to a Democratic party for help. Our party is not in any place of power which should tell all just how pathetic Trump has become to need Democratics for support! Eeeek! Good post!

it's YOU. You're stuck in a anti-american utopia offering no ideas, positive beliefs and positions. You claim to support Jon Huntsman (R) in the past, yet you show no support for moderate conservative positions. One has to wonder where your support lies?

Whoops, I forgot I'm writing to LittleLaffy instead of the award winning poster Laffy. Either way, one has to wonder where the anti-trumpers support lie in the current political climate?

I've heard some anti-trumpers on the board recently show conservative support for Nikki Halley, even Mike Pence. Yet they mention no democratic names since the election. Clearly the country is leaning right.

You guys are the worst, this great country has to offer.
Trump needed Putin the leader of communist country, to help him in the last election.
Then you want to talk about anti-American attitude?
We know Trump and his loyal fools like you are lost!

The 106th GOP controlled congress while Clinton was President, passed the legislation that repealed most of Glass Stealy.  This reduced the separation between commercial banks and Investment banks allowing more risky behavior.   Then in 2004, while Bush was president, the SEC  deregulated the Net Securities Rule which in turn allowed investment banks to to take on more subprime mortgages than they had capital to back.  This "self regulation" scheme was a bad mistake that ultimately led to the mortgage backed securities crash.

There were quite a few other global financial factors.  But the subprime mortgage crisis was all due to badly advised GOP policies and that point is simply unarguable.

concerning the great recession. Below is a sound article that points the fingers at lenders, home buyers, investors and hedge funds that aggravated the problem. The great recession was a great lesson for all of us.

One could falsely hope like you that more government regulations and control could have prevented the great recession. I disagree. The last thing that we the people want is more government control over our lives.

You said it so you have to deal with it.  This discussion (I know you don't know the meaning of that word) is over.

So you'd rather have greedy unregulated bankers control your lives?  The article you linked explains exactly what happened when Grass Stealy was substantially gutted and lending controls were lifted, although in a rather neutral and simplistic manner.  I wasn't pointing fingers, I was restating well known facts.

"Happy Chump" with the facts.  He has already made up his mind.  Either that or he truly is as mentally challenged as you claim.

"Happy Chump,"  reminds me of an expression, my poker buddies and I have shared; "when a guy is looking around the poker table, trying to figure out who the fool is, guess what?  THAT guy, himself, IS the fool."

"Happy Chump" keeps look at discussion board posts, wondering if anyone is truly buying the worthless trash he keeps peddling.  Could it be time for "Happy Chump" to stop looking around the "poker table" and realize he IS the fool himself?
