The US Gov has released millions of gallons of crude oil to various wholesalers. Some of those private sector wholesalers (not the US gov) have shipped CRUDE OIL to Europe and Asia.  I found references to TAIWAN (aka Republic of China, RoC), not CHINA (People's Republic of China; PRC) receiving  a large shipment of crude oil that US refiners do not like to use. If he is "here", GaGambler could shed some light on this and correct any mistakes:

US refiners prefer HEAVY CRUDE; foreign refiners prefer LIGHT CRUDE (or the other way around?). The wholesalers sent the light crude to Taiwan and then they get more heavy crude for US refiners. Sending light crudes to those that want it (Taiwan, Italy, etc.) is supposed to decrease competition / demand for heavy crude and help to keep the prices lower for both ... except for price gouging and other private sector market manipulation.

On balance, the total amount of crude oil available globally went up by several millions of gallons (I think a total of 180 million gallons of crude was released) and US refiners and foreign refiners were able to get their preferred raw materials even if it meant that some of the US reserve crude oil left US shores.

Even so ... Private wholesalers buy from the SPR and sell to end users, NOT Biden or the US Gov. HUNTER is under continuing investigation for tax evasion and his case will be prosecuted (or plea bargained) in due course. His China deals collapsed years ago. If he still has investments in Chinese companies, they should be disclosed according to prevailing laws. If he owns some shares in Sinopec and his shares went up, the DoJ will determine if there was any connection between the events as you allege.

Here is where I am having difficulty tracking down more information. (1) What are the DOE criteria for BIDDING (and closing) on the purchase of SPR crudes? There were 126 competitive bids, 12 "winners" including Unipec America. (2) Are "you" (CDL, Lost, willy, followme, et al.) suggesting that Joe Biden exerted undue influence to get Unipec the oil?

(3) Articles variously use Unipec / Unipec America, Sinopec / Sinopec USA and other names for the Chinese company that purchased the SPR crude. I will ASSUME that they are all referring to the same company. Unipec / Sinopec USA operates a REFINERY in Houston. In general, US refineries use heavy crude (the bulk of the SPR). Foreign refineries prefer to use light sweet crude.

(4) I can find NO article that proves that Sinopec USA is shipping the SPR crude to China. In fact, it doesn't make sense to do so. China has huge sources of crude oil much closer than Houston. I suspect that Sinopec is refining the SPR crude into gasoline and other products in Houston and will sell those products in the US.

(5) Atlantic Trading and Marketing is a French company that has shipped ~1.1 M barrels of their SPR allocation to Europe. Phillips 66 has shipped ~470,000 barrels of SPR to Italy. SPR has also been shipped to the Netherlands, India, and "China." None of the news stories report WHICH wholesaler is shipping oil to China. Is it Sinopec? Without more data (e.g., info from US Customs about imports / exports), we don't know. I hope that someone will report the FACTS as soon as the data is released.
