Drudge is a rightwing loonie that is just as bad as the leftwing loonies that you are targeting. A curse on both their houses. Read more broadly, you may learn something.

is former CBS correspondent & now bitter SOB Bernard Goldberg, who, in his ridiculous book, where he lists 100 people in his opinion who are screwing up America; he wants you to believe that Rick & Kathy Hilton, Dan Rather (among others) are screwing up the country more than: Bush, Ann Coulter, religious right hacks like Dobson, Falwell, etc., radical senator like Rick Santorum (none of whom were even on the list)

Even if she did say it probably meant it as a joke & it got blown out of proportion.....

and the left will continue their downward spiral.

It's all over the "reputable" (ABC News Radio) news now. Drudge just happened to be the first place I saw it. But I'm sure that many news outlets won't carry it (out of shame and double standards).

And of course it was a joke. I don't really expect her to kill herself, but the fact the the "unbiased"/"free" press would make such a joke speaks volumes about the reality of their self assigned role.

I mean really. Its all gotten so damned out of control, even a ranting lunatic fringe like me gets burned out on he same shit day in and day out. Every attempt at serious dialog, be it initiated by a leftie like myself, or a rightie like you, quickly degenerates into a "fuck you!' "no, fuck YOU!" cacophony of utterly pointless insults. I'm just as guilty of it as everyone else, don't think i'm not remembering that.
But I got tired of it, the senseless bickering over bullshit minutia while legitimate discusson of the issues goes by the wayside. I think others have as well, and thats maybe why the participation on this board has dropped recently. Others have commentd on it as well. But wtf do i know? I'm just a progressive socialist with a grudge against fundamentalist extremism of all persuasions.
Meanwhile, Ed... get 1a clue bro... its not just the Democrats who are imploding... the Republican party is cracking at the intersection of facade and reality... Frist has come out in support of Stem Cells, contrary to Bush's wishes. That's an extraordinary turn of events from my perspective. Bush's approval ratings are approaching their lowest levels since September 10, 2001. The questions surrounding Karl Rove and Scooter Libby in the "Leakgate" investigation have now enveloped Bolton, Bush's controversial UN ambassador nominee.
Seems after the White House and Bolton both claimed he wasn't deposed by the Plame investigation. now it turns out he was...
The Teflon shield surrounding this administration is beginning to wear thin, and the ugliness behind the facade is revealed for all to see.
The impending disintegration of the AFL-CIO is really nothing more than a paradigm shift in the entire dynamic of the Unions due to changes in the employment dynamic of the US. But it certainly doesn't help the cause of the Dems.

I don't normally practise what you accuse me of doing. I was simply reacting to a ludicris joke by someone whom many consider a respected "journalist".

While I agree the Dems are imploding, I do not characterize the Republicans the same just because they publically have a difference of opinion and actually carry on a reasoned and rational debate of ideas. It's when a party all walks in lock step towards the cliff that a you should worry. I have no problem at all trying to defeat the political ideas that I find unredeemable and intellectually vacant.

BTW, I don't believe I have EVER taken a FU type of attitude.

...what the hell is so nutty about this?  This is hardly a 1,000 person suicide pact or such.  I thought you meant liberals cooperating on something, not a single liberal making a declaration of despair about her country, and for the world.

Suicide is a somewhat common response to total despair, I think you'll agree?  If you think despair is nutty now, you're insane. Or are the suicidal feelings nutty to you?  Or both?  Now I would consider strapping a bomb to herself and trying to maim and kill 20 other people to be nutty.

Suicide is futile, even moreso than it immediately looks.  I suggest that she try to emigrate instead, and she should consider the fact that Cheney has possibly been running the show anyway.
They'll just get rid of Macho the Clown so people could see Cheney's scowling face and twisted smirk instead.

And I can't wait for that classic moment when he tells the Chinese leader to go fuck himself. It might wreck half the world's economy.

Pretty much all news has its bias, so you are right, check several sources. But don't wax a story as false just becuse it is on Drudge. Remember, he got famous breaking the Monica story, which none of the majors wanted to touch.

To Recap: that it was fucked up before during and after Carter.  That in the 12 years from 11/9 (the date the Berlin Wall fell, BTW) to 9/11 the CIA didn't train analysts in Arabic.  That Bush the First made no moves to do this-- and he was the friendliest POTUS the CIA ever had.  That I believe they never recommended this to Clinton, who, given his inexperience on foreign affairs, probably would have been glad to implement them.

Meanwhile, what the CIA did have were double agents, who were driving Porsches and living in $300,000 homes-- yet none of their fellow spies noticed.  It's not like John Pollard and Aldrich Ames hid any of it.

Why didn't they notice?  I don't know, but I would like to check to see if these trappings of wealth are anything unusual in the CIA.  Yes, they were crippled by Carter!

1) For all I know, they didn't train analyst because they hired a certain number of analysts and/or interpretors to handle any language barriers

2) Perhaps they felt the time required to train agents would be better spent with them in the field utilizing dedicated resources from #1 to handle ay language issues

Do you know for a fact that the training served as a barrier to intelligence gathering, or is this a sound-bite that sounds good but really had no impact??

FNC's 25-54 Prime "Downward Spiral"

April '05 marks "the sixth consecutive month where FNC declined versus prior month in M-F, primetime P25-54 (every month since Nov '04)," CNN's press release says. The 25-54 demo is coveted by advertisers. One insider called it a "downward spiral."

The source was NPR, draw what conclusions you might, but the commentator was not with NPR.  I've heard from other sources that there is a huge backlog of gathered intelligence information written that can't be analyzed due to the lack of
of Arabic speakers.

Did we go through the Cold War with 5 Russian speakers?

Are you saying the CIA might have called a Snelling Temporary Arabic Speaker to do their analysis work?  Does this give you confidence?

I don't know what you mean by #2 exactly, but I'm right about the gist of it. Any intelligence gathering is going to be severely hampered by lack of facility with the language.  It's bad enough that we can't effectively infiltrate them (much less the fact that we then stupidly out the  infiltrators). If on top of that, we don't know what they are saying to each other, then our intelligence is practically useless.

I am biased. I prefer to get my news from more centered sources that rightwing nuts like Drudge or leftwing loonies that bind facts using similar tactics. Mainline news sources have their problems, but at least they can be held accountable when they drift over the line into outright fabrication.

bias in the media--and do a pretty good job at it. Most of the posts, though, are simply transcriptions of what these people say and you apparently cannot refute it. As far as there funding, you said tha they are small-d democratic funded. Since I think democracy is a great thing, I'll accept that and take that as a compliment--unlike the Republican funded Fox News.
