*Denotes companies that have filed for bankruptcy.

36 companies that have received federal support from taxpayers have either gone bankrupt or are laying off workers and are heading for bankruptcy.
This list includes only those companies that received federal money from the Obama Administration’s Department of Energy. The amount of money indicated does not reflect how much was actually received or spent but how much was offered. The problem begins with the issue of government picking winners and losers in the first place. Venture capitalist firms exist for this very reason, and they choose what to invest in by looking at companies’ business models and deciding if they are worthy. When the government plays venture capitalist, it tends to reward companies that are connected to the policymakers themselves or because it sounds nice to “invest” in green energy.

..........should have no problem surpassing that number should he ever become POTUS.

Romney's experience makes him EXACTLY the right guy at the right time.

He will strip out and bankrupt all the do nothing leeches inside the government feeding off federal dollars.

His business acumen will allow him to put the right amount of money into the right technologies such that the marketplace can easily adopt them and explode their applications.

Face it, Obama has NEVER shown an ability to do any of the above successfully.

HAMP is a failure. Shovel ready jobs is a joke. His Solyndra picks blow chunks. He's pissed away all the stimulus $$$ maintaining the bloated status quo. He's helped radical muslims take over a couple more countries and the Benghazi organizers are sipping mango coladas in 5 star hotels pissing in his face.

2012 = GOP = Truth

bankrupted hundreds of companies at Bain.  Saying you're a business exec and pushing a delusional tax plan is a way to get yourself shitcanned by the only poll that will count--the electorate.

The Buffoon right ignores the 7.8 trillion dollars that Romney couldn't possibly pay for without putting a huge tax increase burden on the backs ofthe poor and middle class.  3 Nobel Economists and every non-partisan group has called Romney a Buffoon so the fuck board right meshes well with this rancid fuckstick fake.

,so I agree Romney is the best Man to buy it back with government funds. Does Romney work on commisson?

That is smart business.

Not sure why people,  specifically,  the left want to keep saying "he bankrupted companies".

Bain Capital was designed to get companies that come to them, (paid big money to Bain) deeply in debt and ready to "go under" to help them/their company get out of debt by restructuring,  sometimes,  part of that restructuring is to shut down stores,  eliminate jobs or to have that company bought out by a larger entity, in order to re-thrive.

So as Burger King does not sell hot dogs,   the framework of Bain Capital was set up, not for the "good of the people"  but for the  company that hired Bain to reflourish.  I would say Governor Romney did his job well.

Blowing other people's candle doesn't make your's any brighter.
Cherie

LOL Romney pulls out of North  Carolina and concedes he's lost it.:D

I could post Romney engineered bankruptcies all fucking day and night Cherie. Wake the fuck up and start reading some quality in your Worth Avenue milieu instead of listening to your bullshitting 1% clients.

Soak up these highlights of Romney fucking up and bankrupting companies.

United States has spent billions researching new technologies all through its history. The list is as long as the US from East to West and North to South.

Braindead’s are simple repeating stupidity because of your extreme aversion to truth. Not that you and you ilk would understand it, the network you are using to post this brain dead bullshit is using Internet which was heavily funded by the Tax Payer.

If it was left unto the private sector, Internet would have never, ever happened. Not that you any this, big networking companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon wants to control the Internet. Given their way, you will be paying through your nose and we won’t talk about the fact that the US Internet Infrastructure is antiquated compared other countries even though we invented the technology.

The point is government is not picking winners and losers like you losers keep on saying, tax payers investing in the future. Just imagine, if your parents and grand parents opposed the Interstate Highways, rural electrification, rural telephone’s FDA, etc. What would be the result today?

You and your ilk won’t understand these facts either.

I only wish to address one aspect of what you just said.  The telecom companies do not wish to control the internet.  What they all want, (and deserve), is to compensated for the service they provide.  It takes a hell of a lot of money to provide the connections from let's say Netflix, to the millions of homes who subscribe to that service.  It takes a hell of a lot of money to provide equipment for all those cell phones with active GPS, movies, weather, internet connections all going on simultaneously.  The telecoms want those who create those services like netflix etc... to simply help pay for the bandwidth/equipment necessary to support their services.  If no one wants to pay for those services in terms of the bandwidth, then everyone trying to use the net suffers.  That's all... short and sweet.

Most of these companies like A123 have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They plan to reorganize and emerge as viable business entities as did GM and Chrysler.  The federal stimulus money received may have made the difference between reorganization and liquidation and is not necessarily lost. Plus at a minimum the money keep the companies afloat long enough to provide jobs during the period that the economy was posed on the brink of disaster.

Another way of looking at it is the risks associated with seeding any new technology. If the government had seeded 36 computer companies in 1980 but only Apple and Microsoft survived, would you say this was wasted money?

I would prefer for venture capitialists to take the risk but you do have to recognize that 2008 and 2009 were an extraordinary time.

asteriks denote companies going under.....not bankrupt.
Did u know a company can go bankrupt and still stay in busines...American Airlines fpr example...

all lefties can do is bash RR......but cannot say what they like about Obama....his record speaks for itself.....someday you Trolls gotta get out from under the negativity rock and get into the real world......Obama is being abandoned.

or were they no bid contracts? I think there is a fed law (don't know who passed it) if it is law, that fed contracts must be awarded to the lowest bidder.

This is why Navistar is losing money http://www.forbes.com/sites/joannmuller/2012/08/02/death-by-hubris-the-catastrophic-decision-that-could-bankrupt-a-great-american-manufacturer/
