In re to my subject heading, let me cite a recent example : the WORST person ever to grace this board was a laughable anti-American xenophobe named "Benlanger". This "person" was a
"philosophical bomb thrower" & a joke. Would inflame the board by starting in with laughable premises ( everything the U.S. & conservatives did was evil & wrong ). Fortunately, this prompted 99% here to throw "metaphorical vegetables" at this clown, & for whatever reason,
this cretin is no longer here. Rational debate was impossible with this jerk.

Now ( without naming names ) we have a right-wing version of "Benlanger" on the board. What ridiculous premises flow from the keyboard of this "enlightened" soul ? ALL labor unions, pro-choice advocates & liberals are evil & ruining this country. MORE ridiculous & ignorant philosophical premises. The equivalent of me saying NOTHING flawed with labor unions, abortions & liberalism. What's even more insidious is that this person ( & I'm serious about this ) has a rather troubling "bromance/mancrush" with someone with equally laughable philosophical premises.

All this leads me to say is that you CAN'T debate a person who is a ridiculous parody of the philosophical positions he/she is defending.

   as I did

   I am bewildered by the magnificence
   of your beauty
   and wish to see you
   with a hundred eyes

   My heart has burned with passion
   and has searched forever
   for this wondrous beauty
   that I now behold

   I am ashamed
   to call this love human
   and afraid of God
   to call it divine

   Your fragrant breath
   like the morning breeze
   has come to the stillness of the garden
   You have breathed new life into me
   I have become your sunshine
   and also your shadow

   My soul is screaming in ecstasy
   Every fiber of my being
   is in love with you

   Your effulgence
   has lit a fire in my heart
   for me
   the earth and sky

   My arrow of love
   has arrived at the target
   I am in the house of mercy
   and my heart
   is a place of prayer

turns out he did it to Gore Vidal too! I've always appreciated the writings of both these guys. In my estimation, if the conservatives still had real intellectuals like Buckley behind them, this country would be a far better place.
