Wasn't he the one who said: "I have never seen a good Democrat that wasn't dead"? The current flock of riff-raff pseudo liberals are a cancer on the country promising to steal from those who work and use it to buy votes from those who would rather not work. Every able bodied American ought to make some contribution to the public treasury yet more and more are just parasites who have been led around by the pseudo liberal sheep herders who encourage them to whine, complain, steal, lie, and cheat with the claimed justification that they or their mother, their father, their grandparent, their great uncle or somebody at sometime may have been given the short end of a stick.
In 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor wisely observed that "a democracy will continue to exist up until the time the voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury" and at that point the democracy will quickly shrivel up.  Osama Hussein Obama wants to lead us into his form of Utopia with these generous gifts from the peasants to the parasites. What a dirty bastard he is.

Your outraged irrational drunken crudmugeon act is wearing very thin here. You have gotten so delirious that you can't even form a rational thought anymore. You should have much better ways to spend your monthly Socialistic Insecurity checks than over at Wilie's Bar & Tavern.

This country is already in the shitter due to your moronic wonderboy, the Idiot Bush. I doubt that after what the Idiot Bush has done to this country that either Tap Dancing Obama or High Flying McCain will be able to save it from itself.

While over at Willie's I bid you farewell when I flushed the toilet and sent you off to the sewer gods.

BTW, it was Sherman who said that. Not the happiest guy to quote.

So far, Alexander Tyler, raised in a Calvinistic society, has been proved false. Democracies appear to survive either till somebody in the ruling class ends them (such as Pinochet), or until they are over-run by a non-democracy (such as Nazi Germany). In both cases, it's the liberals who either have to flee or face certain death, while the equivalent of cultural and economic conservatives usually find some accommodation with tyranny.

liberals do? "Flee or face certain death"? Or, more likely fleece, farce and sleeze their way along. I have no problem with true liberals but the bastards now masquerading as liberals are nothing but a gaggle of trash., a bunch of arrogant, ignorant, lazy, dishonest tryant wannabes.

I strongly doubt Custer would have said that about Democrats. His own father was a staunch Democrat. Furthermore, any sentiment regarding Dems back in the Civil War era has little connection to the Dem party today. Same for Reps. Back then, Dems were the party of the landed aristocracy and had a monopoly on southern politics. Reps were the populists: the party of Lincoln and McKinley protectionism.

As for Tyler, that should be Tytler, who did write about democracy, but as practiced in Athens not the US. And that was around 500 BC, and they used direct democracy, not representative democracy as in US. So very little direct connection. Regardless, the quote is false.

Flee? That's what liberals do best. My guess is the conservatives aren't accomodating the tyrants, they're staying to fight. But the libs are moving too fast to turn around and see that.

You talk a lot about your hatred, while not saying anything about these true liberals. If you could stop ranting for a moment, you might make your distinction.

You're ranting an railing reminds me of an inquisitor, and you definitely reserve to yourself the secret of detecting these distinctions and raving hatred about anyone outside the orthodoxy.

Or are you just being a troll? You never step out of ranting mode and say anything else. I'd call it too one-dimensional too be true.

And what Congress did when the British advanced toward Philadelphia. If you list the non-soldiers among the Founders, you have names like Franklin, Adams, and Paine, and those guys never took up the gun to defend their country. And when the British came, they fled. They weren't going to stop a trained army. Some probably would have killed themselves trying to fire a musket.

About totalitarianists, liberals and conservatives:

In Spain, the conservatives, religious, et. al, were clearly behind Franco. The liberals fought and lost on the Republican side. In Germany, the conservatives and industrialists were clearly behind Hitler. In Italy? Same thing. The societal and religious conservatives were in bed with Mussolini. Even in the Iranian Revolution, Bani Sadr, a liberal who was the compromise President after the Shah left, he didn't stick around when Iran went Religious totalitarian.

The exceptions, due to ideology, were the communists, and the conservatives and liberals did their damnedest to fight them. Even there, though, the communists murdered or exiled the liberals. Liberal Kerensky didn't stick around after the Bolsheviks came to power. While Sun-Yatsen didn't leave China, he certainly got out of communist territory and got protection from Chaing-kai-Shek-- a conservative.

The disgraceful exceptions to liberals vs. communists were Western Liberals of the 20th century, who were either complicit or totally fooled by the Red Communist. Overseas they were useful idiots. If they actually lived in the USSR, they would have been dead, probably starved to death working on a canal.

I was paying less attention than usual, and I swear to Allah that I assumed this was a post from A Man Like Any Other.  Then  I looked again.

It was not one of Harry's finer moments. Maybe he WAS over at Willie's getting drunk.

Even IF it were an accurate quote of Custer, the significance of the quote today escapes me.

"Don't worry.  It's only a few Indians, and they're friendly."

maybe you mean the quote attributed to General Phillip Sheridan [an older contemporary of Custer] : "the only good Indian is one who is dead"?  Later shortened to : "the only good Indian isa dead Indian"?

General Sheridan lends his name to Sheridan Square in NYC, in the heart of the oh-so-friendly West Village, home of many Democrats, godless psuedo-intellectual limp-wristed liberals, and congenital fudgepackers.  Often there is consistent overlap between the categories. No doubt many of them hate America as well.

Or humorist Will Rodgers : "I don't belong to any organized political party.  I'm a Democrat"?
