One thing that's often funny to me is that people still get mixed up with the Democrat/Republican paradigm, when really that paradigm is you're either in favor of corporate globalism or you give a shit about the American People. That's the real paradigm. Globalism vs nationalism. Corportism vs. patriotism. Bill Gates vs. Joe 6 Pack.
There's people in both parties that are bought and sold and people in both parties who give a shit about average working stiffs. Who care about the country. Who aren't in it just to sell out the country and get rich in the process. And nothing makes this more clear than with trade policy.
Trump was the first politician to come along in a generation and say screw the corporate elite, we have to start looking after our own workers. We need to abandon free trade and start putting tariffs on all the cheap shit coming in from China. That if we don't do something now about China, China will destroy us. And you don't want to live in a world where the strongest super power on earth is run by a dictatorship. That puts the liberty of all people on earth at risk.
So Trump did what countless other politicians promised. From Ross Perot, to Ralph Nader to Howard Dean to Dennis Kucinich, all of them warned the Democrat party that free trade was destroying us, but it was Trump who actually changed things. Not a single other mofo had the balls to do it. Not Obama, not Bush, not Clinton. Rather, all those Presidents presided over the total gutting of America's manufacturing base. And as more and more jobs went over seas, the giant sucking sound that Ross Perot warned everyone about, no one put the brakes on it. Not the Republican party, and not the Democrat party.
Everyone said Trump was nuts, racist and crazy, but he did it. He pulled us out of these batshit crazy trade deals. He brought back protectionism. And then Covid happened. And every business leader in the country saw just how stupid it had been to off shore every damn thing to China.
So 3 years into Biden's first term, what's happened? If anything, Biden has continued Trump's protectionism. That's right. Joe Biden is no free trader. With Trump's populist message, the Democrats can't afford to take union support for granted anymore. The unions have always been against free trade, and if the GOP via Trump is making a play for those voters, then the Dems have to do something. Biden also knows that letting China being the US's factory is just not a safe option anymore after Covid.
So what's the result of all this? Have you guys been paying attention to what's happening in China? China is in free fall. China is collapsing. This year alone, China has been decimated. So much foreign investment has dried up that cities that used to be manufacturing hubs now look like ghost towns. Youth unemployment in China went past 21%, and then got so bad that China stopped releasing data on it. Cities that used to be packed shoulder to shoulder as people went to their jobs making everything from tennis shoes to iPhones are now vacant. Barely a hundred people on the street, 10,000 factories closed down, few remaining, new ones closing by the day.
China, the nation that once threatened to knock the USA off the top of the mountain is now entering into what appears to be a Great Depression, and things may get so bad so fast that there could be a political revolution in the not too near distant future. And sure, Covid did a lot of damage. But the biggest threat the US has faced since the collapse of the Soviet Union was China. And now China is reeling. And none of that would have been possible without one man having the balls to do what no other man did. And that man is Trump.
