This has been brewing for weeks. Personally, I think he's probably guilty. I've always felt there was something not quite right about the guy. So in the past year we've had the Feds go after the Dem Mayor of New York, the Dem Senator of New Jersey and the son of the President. And that's just fine with all the righties.
But when they go after Trump all of a sudden the Justice Dept. has been "weaponized."

They went after Mayor Adams after he criticized the illegal migrant surge.  Word came down from the top that he must be punished.  

Joe Biden should be prosecuted for corruption.

Consistently caught up in looney conspiracy theories. As for the charges, the indictment has not yet been unsealed but local press believes it's about illegal foreign campaign contributions. So different from Menendez, who received outright bribes directly in cash.

"Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on federal charges of bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations.

The indictment, which was unsealed on Thursday morning, follows an investigation that started in 2021 and has focused at least in part on whether he conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign campaign contributions and whether he took official actions on its behalf.

Federal prosecutors said that Mr. Adams 'sought and accepted improper valuable benefits' for at least a decade, when he was then the Brooklyn borough president, according to the indictment.

Early this morning, federal agents searched the official residence of Mr. Adams, hours before Damian Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, will discuss the a federal indictment against the New York City mayor.

They have focused since 2021 on whether Mr. Adams and his campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign donations, and on whether Mr. Adams pressured fire department officials to sign off on the opening of a Manhattan high-rise consulate building for the Turkish government, despite safety concerns."

So the pieces fall into place.  The machine had kompromat on Adams since 2021.  He stepped out of line and criticized the illegal migrant invasion, so the machine was activated to punish, lest others get any ideas of crossing the bosses.

I love how icky tries to tie this to a law and order must be upheld to justify the lawfare used against Trump!

*The investigation first came to light nearly a year ago when the Feds raided the home of an Adams fund raiser, so it was obviously under way for some time before that.
