Walk and chew gum - final funny line

People can do two things at once.  There is not need to fully repeal health care. It can be nibbled away in a manner that is popular.  E.g., limit things like the use of 1099s for purchases for business expenses.  That is something that people don't know about and will hate when they hear about it. With my small business I have to file at least 10 extra forms.

As long as the health care reform has a negative view in polls, it won't hurt to attack it.

In the meantime, just because you are doing one thing doesn't mean you can't concentrate on another.  That is why there are different committees.  They can do things to try to fix the economy AND tinker with the monstrosity of  a health care bill.

Also, some things will make insurance more expensive, but in an abrogation of duty the last legislature never held hearings on something like the impact of requiring companies to cover certain procedures and abolish limits.

They should have had hearings on that before, and they can have them now.  If the economists explain that doing something like abolish caps necessarily raises prices, people may view those provisions in a negative light.

Finally, I heard a funny line about health care from a Dem who supports it. He was praising the provision that kept offspring on their parents plan until they were 26 years old.  He referred to them as "adult children."
What is an "adult child?"  Is that like a giant shrinp?

Do Not waste time and money trying to overturn the Health Care Bill. If by some chance you are able to gather a Senate majority, it will only be a moot point. President Obama will definitely veto.
Let the Courts debate and decide Health care Fate.
Spend your time trying to fix the economy and find ways to produce jobs, unless you desire to lose more seats than you  gained lately.
2012 is not far away. Some people are paying attention

I agree with you, time right now in Congress is much better spent on creating jobs for those millions of citizens in our country who are struggling. With a looming election year right around the corner, the public (we the voters) are going to cast our votes for those politicians who bring $$ to our tables and our families before we look at any other issue on the plate.

thread, but I think it was largely ignored. (Maybe we should have a general tax man on board, like Legal Beagle, only Tax Ax to help us avoid pitfalls and save our money!)

And anonymous, while we're here, please explain how what I said there is a "gross misrepresentation."

Republicans are in power only because they are not Democrats. But they use that power to advance their agenda, just like the Democrats. I expect a revolving door.

Congress is now 3 months on the past due date for a federal budget. They have failed in their sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. These 'Continuing Resolutions' are so full of earmarks that no one knows who, what, or where that money is going. If they don't get their shit together, regardless of their political persuasion, hopefully 2012 will bring 435 new members.

What symbolism, sound bytes and talking points. What can we talk about and get on each others nerves. Politics is all about sound bytes, talking points and symbolism. When was the last time you heard something intelligent, logical and useful to come out of politicians mouth?
