Several scare mongering Republicans told this in public.   Mitch McConnell,  Ted Cruz on and on especially after mass shooting in Newtown Elementary School.    No he did not, did not intend to and did not happen.

Big deal.  There are other ways to make your assault rifle fully automatic.   Even if they are included in any bill it won't do jack squat.  Especially if there are no improvements in background checks, mental health, high-capacity magazines, etc. So this joke of a bill will allow politicians to pose for the cameras and pretend they did something.  And the next massacre will happen anyway. Hell, there's already a data base of AR purchases but the data isn't organized by purchaser, so no one knew the LV shooter had bought more than 30 guns in the past year.  And LE isn't even allowed to check.

I guess this will ensure new legislation, after which everyone will slap each other on the back and think they actually did something.  Then, after the next mass killing they'll all say, "See? Gun laws don't work anyway."
