US consumer inflation increases at fastest pace in nearly 1-1/2 years in January

Zerohedge had a good write up on this. Turns out the inflation numbers aren’t real, but are projections from a socialist professor in Chicago. The January CPI numbers aren’t out yet. The fact is that unlike this socialist professor, the Fed is projecting 3% inflation. It was 2.9% in December. So basically unchanged. Egg prices are high right now, but that’s only because an OIG at the USDA was killing off a shit ton of chickens on the false basis that they had bird flu. It was bullshit. Trump fired her and she refused to leave. Trump had to order security to throw her out of the building.  

The CPI has hovered between 2-4% since the financial crisis of 2008. It skyrocketed to 9% during the pandemic. It went back to the historical range by 2023. Of course there’s an argument to be made that the CPI is a poor method to measure inflation. Regardless, Trump hasn’t been in office for a month yet and most economic outlooks are done on a quarterly basis. So as usual, Chinchilla is having an erectile dysfunctional rage fest.

So the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) didn't release this CPI data TODAY? Really?  Cuz it's right here .. and a simple search results in dozens of articles about this information that was released TODAY.

In January, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.5 percent, seasonally adjusted, and rose 3.0 percent over the last 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.4 percent in January (SA); up 3.3 percent over the year (NSA).

February 2025 CPI data are scheduled to be released on March 12, 2025, at 8:30 A.M. Eastern Time.

Looks like Zerohedge was right just like they were right about the unemployment numbers.  

 
So March 2024 it was 3.4%. August it was down to 2.4%. January it was 3%. So nothing surprising. Certainly not the sky is falling scenario you were freaking out about, Chinchilla.
