If a party gets tossed out because people are finally sick of their corruption, the opposing party can often run a yellow dog and get it elected.

We've got a disease here called the GOP, and we've gotten to the point that we're ready to amputate.  Are the Democratic faithful, the ones who had no other life the last 6 years, are these the people who have a better alternative?

Fortunately, for all the bad press the bureaucracy gets, it's also a powerful shock absorber and archive of knowledge.   What we need is leadership that can direct it effectively.

is a giant mass of incompetents, tyrants, and inefficients who have lost all connection with the people they are supposed to be working for. They love their power, their light work load, their great benefits and their early retirement. Yes, they nullify a lot of what the elected do and some times that can be good, but they exert too much power and have a lifetime, non-elected position and too little commitment to the people. Sack them all! Start over!!

all by yourself, because you know so much about it.

There's assholes everywhere, especially in the GOP, and I don't begrudge a civil servant his coffee break.  I'm a private businessman, and I take coffee breaks when I damn well feel like it, and if you get to it, you will find that these people archive 90% of our knowledge.  You take for granted things like the county recorder, and the forest rangers, etc. that maiantain tons of data, and allow us to get a man to the moon - yeah, NASA is another bureaucracy, so is NOAA, etc etc.

Yeah, they have problems, and those problems are traceable to shitty leadership (putting cronies in FEMA) and unreasonable expectations (you can work 24/7/365 if you want, but I'm not asking you to, because it's not reasonable or necessary).

I fight govt bureaucracy for a living, so I have standing to complain.  I don't think such broad complaints are justified.

for a recommendation against a harsh supervisor.  I was surprised and didn't remember them, though I knew the supervisor and always considered him a reasonable and mellow man.  So I was polite and brushed them off, thinking, 'good on that fellow, to see he's kicking ass and motivating people'.  Yeah, I see chubby oversensitive middleaged girls try to stop production with their hurt feelings, but that happen in private life too.   Get them off the clock and send them home to watch the soaps and recover.

I did paint with a broad brush, almost as if I were a liberal. Yes there are a lot of good bureaus' but there are too many lousy ones. Fire them all and hire the good ones back. I'll take care of the roads and sewers in the meantime.

or what?  Did you flunk your driver's test?

Man what I cannot figure is how anybody thinks they can demonstrate motorcycle riding skills in a parking lot with somebody watching you, and you never get out of 1st gear.

But it's all a balance.   Doing something really good, like the MSF, costs tons of money that simply doesn't interest the majority of drivers and taxpayers.   On the other hand, it proves you aren't likely to die at your 1st stoplight, and bring out all the paramedics to police you up.

The military often requires an MSF course to let a kid ride on base; but civilians are more laissez-faire, because they don't give as much of a shit if some kid turns himself into a thin red line.   They put all their money into sending the fire trucks out every time some AARPer hyperventilates about the cat in the tree.

because if you could deal with them, they wouldn't bother you.

Be sure to tell the court clerk the next time you're down there.   She'll be glad to know.

I treat everyone with respect unless they prove they want something else. I neither take nor give shit. The court clerks and I get along just fine and they understand my philosophy of life.

which you have (at least tried) to kick in the groin.

Harry, something's not right here.  I think it's probably in your software.  You know, it's just a little too soft.
