If they weren't getting help from China and North Korea they'd be done.
There is no threat of a Russian ground attack on NATO.

Trump has also been getting roasted on Russian TV. If he was made aware of that, then it would hammer home the fact that Putin had been stringing Trump along. Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin in Alaska in hopes of securing direct talks between Putin and Zelensky. And the thanks he gets for that from Russia is nightly drone/cruise missile attacks on Kiev and bad Russian press. I think that was enough to tip the scales back to Ukraine.
