True Jersey, but Limbaugh has offered some real pieces of shit over the years too. (eom)

Limbaugh is correct in saying the Volt goes only 40 miles.....on battery power only. Then the small gas engine starts, and generates electrical power to continue driving. Seems Mr. Lasso failed to mention that. Motor Trend has awarded their "Car of the YEAR" to some real pieces of shit over the past 50 years. Chevy Vega for one, comes to mind. Hardly see where anyone was 'disemboweled'.

as a matter of fact, they really didn't come back with any "facts" to refute Limbaugh.

as Phil said, "time will tell". Just because Motor Trend magazine says something doesn't make it so, but of course the same goes for Limbaugh.

Personally I'm not buying shit from "Obama Motors" despite the fact that 7 of my last 8 personal cars have beed Caddies. I just bought a half dozen Fords and will continue to buy "anything but a GM"

Unless you have oil stocks, I fail to see the issue. As long as propulsion works, I don't really care from where it comes from or what generates it. It can be air as far as I am concerned. Indeed, there is air propulsion and scientists are working on it.

I have always wondered, why someone didn't think of using a small engine to generate electricity on board, thats what aircraft does. Aircraft is actually a small power plant flying around. Not used for propulsion, I know.

I have heard mixed things about the car, and have no means to verify them.

However, this is a no-brainer.  Within two years, either people will be raving to their friends and they will be flying of the lot, or they will bomb.

It is the perfect news story to cut and file and half the people will say, "I told you so."

Too funny! Especially the last line.

But all will be worked out.

More companies are making the same.

VW has Toureg Hybrid, it generates some like 318 HP equivalent power and damn thing 300 lbs torque. The real issue is going to be the charging stations but if Government can get the Smart Grid going it will work.

Israel, on the other hand investing a lot on charging stations and the end game is to generate power at the charging stations using solar panels.

Die hard fossil fuel people will find fault with all of it foe sure, it is not in their self interest. Personal Computers never took off either. Thats what, IBM, DEC, HP, Univac, Sperry, WANG said when Apple II was released. How did that work out?

If it is true that the milege is terrible, this is more than an "issue" to be worked out.

I don't believe it is the Big Bad Oil Companies, because there are too many nations that have no "oil interests," and therefore they would love to have non-fossil fuel alternatives.  Italy, France, Germany, Spain, etc.

If it was the oil companies, nothing would have stopped those countries from getting together and producing their own car that runs of something else.  THey have been held hostage to oil prices for as long as I can remember, and I go over there almost every year.

They have joined forces for joint ventures in the past, but for some reason they couldn't see clear of Evil Exxon.

It isn't an issue of fossil fuel.  THere is an old saying that the Stone Age didn't end when they ran out of stones.  Someone came up with a better idea.

(Personally, I would love it. I live a very "green" life. I recycle and re-use more than anyone I know personally. Turn off my printer at night, use canvas bags, etc.  I think there are a million reasons to live that way - if nothing else, it is less expensive than building city land fills.)

It is start and we have small engines doing many things we didn't think or dream they could do in the past. Indeed, there is long way to go but human race is filled with examples. No one thought one could assemble cars on an assembly line until, Henry Ford figured it out or no one thought of electric bulb could replace oil lanterns or people can speak long distance using electro magnetic waves, or put people on the moon.

Compared to those odds, perfecting a small engine to generate enough energy for propulsion doesn't seem that hard.

I live a green life as well not only because personal hate for land fills and the harm it has caused but also considering that an island in Bay of Bengal went under water and the fishermen living there have to be moved.
