It’s going to depend on the make up of the caucus. If a good number of pro-Trump reps are elected, McCarthy’s chances dwindle.

To bury McCarthy as long as you have the loudest voices in the chamber, Greene, Gaetz and maybe one or two more of the Pro Trumpies. That will cripple McCarthy...But the way it looks now, the majority of the House caucus is aligned with trump so McCarthy is toast. It'll be a shit show

Unless it’s a razor thin majority, I don’t see Green or Gaetz throwing a monkey wrench into McCarth’s ambitions.

But let's not confuse McCarthy to be the next Tip O Neill or Nancy Pelosi...so do tell, beside the carrying out of the trumps vendetta campaign, what can we expect from a McCarthy speakership?

Crime and inflation are polling as the two biggest concerns for the electorate. A new crime bill and some action to curb the deficit spending would be two areas to deliver on.

That and using the power of the purse to increase enforcement of our immigration laws.

Would he raise taxes on the rich? Are we talking about austerity to curb the deficit? And a crime bill, would that be reversing trumps First Step Act?

There’s strong bipartisan support for a strong military right now, especially with China flexing its military muscle in the Pacific and Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.

The Base Realignment and Closure process was terminated by Congress before the 2015 round of closure recommendations could begin. The next round after that would be due in 2023. There’s a possibility of reviving that cost saving process, but I don’t see Congress reviving BRAC.

There is some room for austerity, but it will take compromise between the White House and GOP to make that happen. Balanced budgets were achieved during the Clinton/Gingrich years, and that might serve as a model for a Biden/GOP Congress.

It involved defence cuts and rising taxes on the rich, something McCarthy won't have the stomach to do. trump will whack his peepee for all to see if he even suggesting this, so it's crazy talk.
Let's be real...McCarthy ain't gonna do shit except air out trump's grievances...But I can see him pushing funding for that wall thing, if t's still a wall thing
