It turns out that, in addition to having paid a settlement for an alleged rape, Hegseth also allegedly mis-used funds at two of the veterans groups he ran AND was "repeatedly intoxicated" while acting in his official capacity.

The very conservative Koch Brothers, financial backers of the CVA, had CEO Hegseth fired.

1) Hegseth's colleagues at Fox have told reporters his drinking caused problems on the job.
2) There are now six Senators telling NBC they have doubts about being able to vote in favor of Hegseth's nomination.

This is what happens when you vet people incompetently. This guy knew he was out of his depth and withdrew.

He failed to read the key part of this guy's withdrawal statement, which said he quit because "the gravity of this very important responsibility set in,"
So he just wasn't up to it and at least he knew it.
The SPOAT, by contrast, has no clue he's just not up to posting here.
One can only conclude he is actually retarded.

The Wall Street Journal (highly conservative and owned by Murdoch) says Trump is considering replacing Hegseth with FL Gov. Ron DeSantis.
This is what happens when you're careless in checking out your nominees. It's very comforting to know Trump is just as incompetent as ever.

accepting.  He want's to be prez after governor, not in a Cabinet post.  If Trump does offer it, I think he's just trying to clear the field for J.D. Vance in 2028.

We need folks like Robert Gates and Leon Panetta to lead such a vast, complex, vital organization.

populist choice and really doesn't have the depth of experience in my opinion.  Combine this with his character flaws, and it's a tough sell to the Senate.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal is accusing Pete Hegseth’s attorney, Timothy Parlatore, of witness intimidation because Parlatore suggested that Hegseth may sue the woman who accused him of sexual assault and received a settlement if he doesn’t get confirmed.
