Ask ex-congressman Randy (Duke) Cunningham,(R) CA, how that worked for him. He got 3 hots and a cot for several years, at our expense, for lying. And what did Charles Rangell,(D)NY, get. Nada, zilch, zippo. And which parties were in power when these happened?

He admitted to much more than lying. And, he resigned in 2005. That's before the 2006 elections, and before the 2008 elections. Who was in power then???

The Republicans were in control of the House when Cunningham did his dirty deeds. He LIED when he took his oath of office. He didn't support and defend anything, other than his bank account. He got almost what he deserved. If I were Judge, he'd be incarcerated for 15 years, and get no federal pensions.

The Democrats are in control now, and Rangell, IMHO, committed several felonies when he lied about his financial dealings to Congress. Many well known individuals have recently gone to prison for tax evasion, but not 'ol Charlie Rangell. He got a slap on the wrist. Wonder why that is?

Rangel did what so many members of congress do, Democrats and Republicans, claiming he inadvertently broke the rules, so his intent is still in question. Sort of like proving the intent of someone who has killed another. If there were no intent it could be charged as manslaughter. If there were intent, but no premeditation, it could be charged as 2nd degree murder. If there were intent and premeditaion, it could be charged as 1st degree murder, and in all of the determinations would lead to differing outcomes regarding the penalties upon being found guilty.

I do hope that someone, with jurisdiction is investigating him, more in-depth, to see if he is guilty of any felonies.

I was always under the impression that intentionally failing to declare income, and failure to pay taxes on it, was also a federal felony, not just breaking, "House rules", but what do I know. Wesley snipes found out the hard way, IMO, Rangel should be his cellmate. Cheating is cheating, no matter how gross the amount. Rangel should be even more accountable, since he is chairman of that committee.

It would be a hoot if he and Tom DeLay could be roomies. They could debate all day, lol.

it would be great if Congressmen and women would be sent to the regular prisons vs. the white-collar crime detention centers. Let them get a taste of which race group to join, and who's bitch they're going to be.
