better positioned or more experienced to provide the government with armored electric vehicles?

no other manufacturers who could do a better job on armored electric vehicles than Tesla?  I believe it was put out for bids and Tesla was the only one who thought they could build them within the budget constraints.   If it's going to be a Tesla building them, would you rather have NO armored electric vehicles?

they bid on the project?  I'll tell you why.  It's because now that Trump has lifted the EV mandate, other manufacturers what nothing to do with EV's and can't wait to phase out that money-losing segment of their business.

from his own Link.

The U.S. State Department could soon award Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company a $400 million contract for a so-called “armored Tesla,” according to a report.

"COULD" Did you miss that Bitch slapped Dumb Fuck?? The contract hasn't been awarded yet.

You "believe"?? Source? "From up Trump's ass" is not a legitimate source. I believe that others would have bid. GM has an EV tank in development. Plasan has military EVs in development. Rivian and Ford have military EVs in development If that's what I found in a quick google search I assume that there are probably others, as well.
.
You mention "within the budget constraints." Do you think Musk will agree to deliver on the contract WITHOUT cost overruns? ... that he will forced to eat the overrun costs or to return the $400 M if he doesn't deliver on time? Do you think the contract specs will change? "We can't make the agreed upon vehicle with a 150-mile range. We're delivering a 50-mile EV and a Diesel generator to recharge it."
.
Based on past performance, I think that nothing up to spec will be delivered for less than 2x that amount.

Some companies have up-aermored Teslas but Tesla itself has never done it.

I just said that Musk said they are WILLING to do it.  The same cannot be said for other EV manufacturers who are losing Billions on EVs.

You said "What manufacturer is better positioned or more experienced to provide the government with armored electric vehicles?"
Well, since they've never even BUILT an armored vehicle I'd say my comment was more than fair.
They do burn nicely though....

The experience part has to do with EV experience, not Armoring experience.  No one is better positioned based on their experience with EVs.  Armoring is not a highly technical addition to a vehicle, but it will create lower performance statistics due to the added weight, and Tesla has the most experience in this area.  Somebody who has led in both the EV market and space travel should not have a problem armoring vehicles.

"Armoring is not a highly technical addition to a vehicle"??  Where did THAT come from? SOURCE?
.
Probably Trump:
* "I got it. I got it. Why don't we nuke [the hurricanes]? They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they're moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can't we do that?"
* "So, supposedly we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way."
* "And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that."
* "Windmills cause cancer. RRrrrrr! RRrrrr!"
* "And they have all magnetic elevators to lift up 25 planes at a time, 20 planes at a time. And instead of using hydraulic, like on tractors that can handle anything from hurricanes to lightning to anything, they use magnets,” Trump said." "All I know about magnets is this, give me a glass of water, let me drop it on the magnets, that’s the end of the magnets."
* "Remember, new "environment friendly"  lightbulbs can cause cancer. Be careful-- the idiots who came up with this stuff don't care.' [posted on Twitter on Oct 17, 2012; quoted by "Trump's Views on Science Are Shockingly Ignorant" Scientific American 2016.]
* "I have Big Brain." "I know more about [everything] than anybody." "Bing bing bong bong. RRRrrrr. RRRrrrr. ..."

In December Trump WAS the President-Elect and his influence was spreading through the government. And if there wasn't something fishy going on then why-of-why did Trump pull the plug on this?

The claim that Elon Musk is set to score a $400 million federal contract for 'Armored Tesla' vehicles is false. No such contract has been awarded, and the procurement process for this specific contract is on hold without current plans to issue it.

Ps. Didn't Elon just save astronauts left in space by Biden?
