When ten U.S. sailors and their boats were seized by Iran this week, righties were ready to go to war (even though none of them nor their kids would go).  After the sailors were released in less than a day, do you think righties gave Obama credit?  Did they say: "Great job, Obama, we thought the Americans would be held for at least 13 days as the Iranians did to 15 British sailors in 2007."

Of course not!  The Obama-hating righties didn't give Obama any credit at all. They immediately said: "Oh yeah?  What about the other Americans being held by the Iranians?"  Well, one was released today and four others were swapped for Iranians held by the U.S.  More egg to wipe off their faces.  I wonder what they'll have to say about that.  How will they spin it to blame Obama for something else?

No, this was done to embarrass this President, just before his state of the Union speech, and a last ditch effort by some "neo-conservative" U.S. Military officers to scupper the Iranian Nuclear deal. This major G.W. Bush fuck up has unleashed the current Sunni-Shia crisis in the Middle East and it is a major fuck up for the ages that will not end in our life time.

Here's a simple question:  How would a GOP administration have dealt with the recent hostage situation in Iran regarding the 10 captured U.S. soldiers? Military Force, its the only thing the GOP understands. Negotiations are what pansies/pussies do in their opinion.

It must suck that Netanyahoo's prediction that the World would face Nuclear Armageddon, the day after Iranian sanctions were removed, has yet to come pass. I'm still waiting......lol. I've come to realize our real enemy in the Middle East is not Iran but Saudi Arabia. For example, Iran does not go around funding and supporting radical Moslem ideologies or bombing American cities like New York or supporting groups like ISIS and Al Quaeda or the Moslem brotherhood?  

Interestingly, with the recent removal of sanctions, flights to Iran from most European capitals are filled to capacity with European business men seeking to do deals with Iran. Apparently European's have not yet received your memo about how bad a deal this nuke deal is huh?

Now about those released Journalist, how the f***k should Obama have extracted them, carpet bomb Iran with B52 bombers, the same way a few GOP candidates have suggested. Yes, it took a while, but they were ultimately released safe. I'm not a supporter of going to bat for some of these American idiots who go to unsafe places, get held, and start yapping for the government to save their asses.  I much prefer they spend a year or more as hostages, thinking about the utter stupidity of their actions. If the State Department enacted such a policy there would be a lot fewer Americans abroad going to "unsafe countries and committing stupid acts abroad

Your line of reasoning makes as much sense as the other possibility that the incident was engineered by Obama in order to make himself look good. He could have made an arrangement with the Iranians, communicating exactly when and where this patrol was going to be, with the agreement to pick them up and then return them in short order thus making Kerry and Obama look exactly as you portray them. It also makes the Iranians now appear more trustworthy and more like partners, still adversarial of course but now someone willing to cooperate more with the U.S. If their plan is to eventually cheat (or  continue to cheat) then it makes sense they'd agree to a plan that gives the appearance that they have higher credibility with more people.  

Both ideas are crazy yet plausible. Or maybe one's not so crazy.

This is from a former SEAL Officer's take on the recent Iran/U.S. Sailors incident:

"I hope none of my FB friends are gullible enough to believe the strayed into Iranian waters and had mechanic problems nonsense. I rarely pull out my dusty old trident, but in this case, here goes. I was a Navy SEAL officer in the 1980s, and this kind of operation (transiting small boats in foreign waters) was our bread and butter.

Today, these boats both not only had radar, but multiple GPS devices, including chart plotters that place your boat's icon right on the chart. The claim by Iran that the USN boats "strayed into Iranian waters" is complete bull$h!t.

For an open-water transit between nations, the course is studied and planned in advance by the leaders of the Riverine Squadron, with specific attention given to staying wide and clear of any hostile nation's claimed territorial waters. The boats are given a complete mechanical check before departure, and they have sufficient fuel to accomplish their mission plus extra.
If, for some un-explainable and rare circumstance one boat broke down, the other would tow it, that's why two boats go on these trips and not one! It's called "self-rescue" and it's SOP.

This entire situation is in my area of expertise. I can state with complete confidence that both Iran and our own State Department are lying. The boats did not enter Iranian waters. They were overtaken in international waters by Iranian patrol boats that were so superior in both speed and firepower that it became a "hands up!" situation, with automatic cannons in the 40mm to 76mm range pointed at them point-blank. Surrender, hands up, or be blown out of the water. I assume that the Iranians had an English speaker on a loudspeaker to make the demand. This take-down was no accident or coincidence, it was a planned slap across America's face.

Just watch. The released Sailors will be ordered not to say a word about the incident and the Iranians will have taken every GPS device, chart-plotter etc off the boats, so that we will not be able to prove exactly where our boats were taken.
