These fiduciaries make the decisions, not the president.  Trump is a real estate investor and those who managed his businesses while he was president had a fiduciary duty to the trust to operate it in the most profitable way.  There is no law prohibiting foreign nationals from buying residential property in the US.

in the NY government accepting Trump's valuation all those years in order to get a higher tax base, which Trump paid, and NOW saying he over-valued it.  If Trump admits he overvalued the property, does he get the tax money back?  The duplicity of Democrat-run governments is astounding.  

 
No one has yet to show that any false valuation by Trump caused a loss to anyone.  When you borrow money from a bank for real estate, the bank will usually get their own appraisal, and if they still loan you the money, it means that their appraisal was in the ballpark with yours.  Since this is a civil case, there has to be financial harm to someone in order to win the case. That's where still case will tank.

FYI, Trump overvalued his assets to secure loans, while undervaluing them to save on his tax bill.  The false valuations by Trump caused a loss to the state of New York and its taxpayers.

Another interesting "cheat" involved a Trump building that was leasing its rooftop for commercial TV antennas, earning ~$100,000 per year. That income was not reported on his taxes for at least 9 years, even as loan documents listed the antennas as major sources of income. Trump then filed some sort of tax appeal (to reduce the taxes on the property even more) and tax APPEALS are public documents in NYC (so citizens can provide their input). INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISTS who review public filings for "news" caught the discrepancies and exposed it.

The State of New York, even during an audit, does not investigate every single detail, ESPECIALLY when it is a non-existent detail. Trump didn't even report a small amount of antenna income to raise an eyebrow ("$1,000? Other similar buildings in NYC charge a lot more for antenna leases. .... Mr. Trump, can we please see the details of these antenna deals?"). He reported ZERO and made no mention of antennas! Likewise, the State of New York does not have agents sifting through New York CITY tax appeals looking for this stuff. The Fourth Estate found it and a lot of other Trump tax fraud. THAT'S why NYS accepted Trump's valuations and income / debt claims for so many years without investigation. So much was hidden from view.

Have you ever been in a restaurant that did NOT have two sets of books?  Are you saying that restaurants are all mob businesses.  There is no limit to what you will do to try to connect dots that don't connect.  

 
Nevertheless, Trump is not personally charged with anything.  This is a civil trial again the Trump Organization, who is being sued for $250,000,000.  It will probably settle at some point without any admission of guilt or liability on Trump's part for $5-10,000,000.   A drop in the bucket for his company.   I note that CFO Weisselberg made no accusation that Trump knew anything about "two sets of books."  That appears to be a decision that his CFO made unilaterally without Trump's knowledge.  That is why this case will never go to trial.  

I do not know any person or any business that keeps two sets of books. It seems like something that is perfectly normal to you, even if it is illegal. If caught in their lies, even small businesses can be prosecuted but, I assume, that most of them plead out and pay fines and penalties.

You need a scorecard to keep track of Trump crimes, prosecutions, and convictions. What we also know is the Trump, in mob-boss styles of behavior that he was taught by Roy Cohn, Cohn was Chief Counsel to Joe McCarthy during the infamous McCarthy Hearings. Cohn was also the lawyer for Mafia bosses Fat Tony Salerno, Carmine Galante, and John Gotti. Trump had a good mentor who taught him the Mafia methods.

The NYC CRIMINAL prosecution charged the Trump Org with a "15 year 'scheme to defraud' the government", conspiracy, and falsifying business records. Prosecutors filed 10 charges against the organization and its Trump Payroll Corporation entity, and 15 felony counts against Weisselberg." There was some evidence with DIRECT links to Trump (Trump had testified in Galicia v. Trump that he personally oversaw Calamari Sr.'s compensation which was set up to avoid paying taxes) but Trump was not named as a defendant. ... Weisselberg pleaded guilty to 15 felonies in a plea deal. At trial, Trump Org was convicted of all 17 criminal charges.

In the NYS CIVIL lawsuit, Trump IS PERSONALLY CHARGED "with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree as part of a "conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 election." He was deposed by the NY AG and his 400+ page deposition was recently unsealed. Read it for yourself. NYS did not charge Trump with "being a stupid moron" but his deposition provides ample proof of that.

Pre-trial opinions vary (Trump will easily win versus Conviction is a slam dunk). I find the arguments for likely CONVICTION to be more credible than acquittal but there are 34 counts. Maybe it will be a split decision.

I previously mentioned Trump's failure to report almost $1 M of income from rooftop leases that he DID report on income statements presented to obtain loans. In 2012, Trump claimed that the 40 Wall Street building was worth $527 million on loan applications but but only $16.7 million in his tax filings.
