I'm sure those from both sides of the aisle offer condolences to her family.

Main reason I posted this was because brought memories back of '84 POTUS election; WORST choices in my voting history ! Faced between Fritz ( pussy )Mondale ( Ferraro's running mate, for those too stupid or young to know---:) ) & Ronald ( Alzheimer ) Reagan, I opted not to vote for POTUS at all. Awful choices !

At least in '80, I voted for John Anderson ( still alive & just turned 89 ) faced with similarly dreary choices of either Jimmy ( wussy )  Carter & Ronald ( Jellybean brain ) Reagan .

but voting by party, whether it be GOP, Dem, or libertarian, makes no sense either. Do you really identify that closely with any political party to simply rubberstamp whichever candidate they throw at you?

I vote for or against individuals, not parties.

of course we could always have a Obama/Palin race, in which case I would eat my words from back in 2008 and vote for Obama, if I didn't break my own fingers first. lol

Maybe Nuguy would vote for them or perhaps SouthernJezebal?

Just as bad, and at one time a lot more likely would have been a Huckabee/Palin ticket. If any of them acheive any real power, I plan on buying that tropical island I have been saving for. lol

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I think the worst two tickets to choose from in history was Bush/Cheney against Kerry/Edwards in 2004. I still shudder when I think about that.

I also vividly remember the selection by Mondale of Ferraro as a running mate in 1984. He thought that would sew up the female vote, and of course that strategy didn't work at all.

So with history already proving that didn't work, what did John McCain do in 2008? He picked Sarah Palin in an attempt to woo the Hillary voters. Of course that worked just as well as it did for Mondale. The pick of Palin was breath taking in it's stupidity. McCain(rightfully) claimed Obama was too inexperienced and unqualified, but then he promptly picked an equally inexperienced and unqualified running mate. Obama has not been effective so far, but McCain was also a very weak and wishy washy candidate. So maybe 2008 was one of the worst choices in history.

I gave up on the major parties and started voting Libertarian.

What about Nixon/Agnew vs. Humphrey/Muskie.  Nixon, a lying dirtbag who got ahead by being a crypto-McCarthyite taps a bagman as his running mate.  They run against a washed-up Liberal who left his balls in LBJ's pocket.  Muskie was the only decent one in the batch, not that it mattered.  What a miserable choice!

A Palin/Bachmann ticket.  The party would never recover.  I don't know a single woman who'd vote for either of them.
