I don't think so. There's also a LOT of scrutiny on shenanigans at the Trump Int'l Hotel in DC WHILE he was President. But this is a New York suit and they have a right to go after him for fraud that harmed New York State.
Looks like you hate lawlessness except when it applies to Trump.
Here is the Fox News version for those who won't believe the NYT, WaPo, Reuters, LA Times, Weekly Reader, news crawlers, bulletin boards, Facebook, Twitter, or their own eyes:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-york-ag-sues-trump-fraud-allegations
New York AG sues Trump over fraud allegations.
"The New York Attorney General's office has filed a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, several of his family members, as well associates and businesses, alleging "numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation" regarding financial statements.
.
Attorney General Letitia James said at a news conference Wednesday morning that Trump "inflated his net worth by billions of dollars," and that his children Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric helped him.
.
"Mr. Trump and the Trump Org repeatedly and persistently manipulated the value of assets to induce banks to lend money to the Trump Organization on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company," James said, "to pay lower taxes, to satisfy continuing loan agreements and to induce insurance companies to provide insurance coverage for higher limits and at lower premiums." ..."
.
.
.
I'm not quoting a source here (I'll search for one, if you want), but during the investigations of Trump Org, it was revealed that Ivanka was being paid both as a consultant AND as a Vice Pres of Trump Org which is a questionable practice in this type of biz and is indicative of money laundering of some sort. I seem to recall that Trump was using this practice to transfer assets to Ivanka and bypassing gift or inheritance taxes (which are higher than the income taxes on the same amounts). Did Ivanka go along with this double dipping? Of course she did!! Did she know and understand the "tax evasion" aspects of the scheme? Well, she has a degree from Wharton so I assume she does know about business, business taxes, and business ethics ... and how her father and grandfather skirted the tax laws. I wonder if that is part of the law suit filed today.
.
EDIT: made a correction

What an embarrassing attempt to portray obvious and systematic fraud by trump as "political". Your defense of his criminality is predictable and pathetic.

Or maybe she has a clue and doesn’t want to make Trump a real Political martyr? Every attack on trump pisses off the right and pulls more people into his cause. Before you go screaming it’s because they are stupid…. All that does is alienate more people a lot of which? Are actual smarter than you lefties.

Your own link (which isn't even to a real analysis of the case, just a Twitter feed) points out there's another case being weighed for criminal charges.
ChicKie embarrasses himself again.
The self pronounced expert on political hackery can’t recognize one of the biggest stunts of this election cycle?
Only a true political hack and fool like yourself would call a 222 page legal filing that documents a decade of civil fraud by the trump family as a political stunt. You should be embarrassed to be defending this grifter and ashamed of yourself. But of course you aren't because you're a cultist.

...not a criminal prosecution.
Second, perhaps you meant to say "political persecution" but you'd have to at least received your GED to know the difference between a "prosecution" and a "persecution." Keep studying, ChicKie!
Third, where is this "Great Analysis If (sic) The Trump Lawsuit?" I see only a few tweets; how is that a "great analysis" of a 222 page complaint involving more than 200 false and misleading asset valuations?
…I wouldn’t be surprised if they charged Trump with pulling the tags off his mattress.
You compare this to "pulling the tags off his mattress?"
We're talking about a broad and continual pattern of fraud on hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars. This denied NY State of millions upon millions of legitimate tax revenues that could have supported its infrastructure, its schools, etc. It was NOT a victimless or minor crime.
But I guess if you grift a substantial part of your salary and hate the government you think it's OK to steal.
That doesn't make you, or Trump, any less of a thief.
PS: At what point do you think Willy began to rue the day he revealed how he grifts so much of his salary from our government?

Ease up lefty looser they are giving you lefties so much spank material (for those that can still get it up) it isn’t even remotely funny!
Of COURSE he was making a joke. It was just a shitty joke. It might have been better if he'd said it was like getting caught for jaywalking.
Buy MY point was he's trying to minimize a hundred million dollar fraud. And, of course, you're FINE with that. You'll forgive Trump ANY crime because you're a Kool-Aid-drinking, cultist.
And you'll do ANYTHING to keep your head up your butt re how much trouble your boy has gotten into with his multiply-illegal schemes, before, during and after his corrupt Presidency.
Trump = the most corrupt and incompetent President EVER. It ain't even close. Trump makes other corrupt Presidents like Grant and Nixon look like choir boys.
Lost will never find his brain.
Lost and clueless is no way to go through life. Let me explain it so even you can understand (maybe). Willy was greatly minimizing trump's alleged business fraud with a ridiculous comparison and Nicky called him out on it. Got it? I hope so.

Willy making a (pretty funny) joke out of it is illuminating the fact that the left is going after Trump (because they are apparently scared shitttttless of the man) in any and every way possible.

Such a ridiculous argument. Fraud sometimes takes time to investigate and uncover. Many fraudsters are very good at covering up their financial deception. It wasn't until 2019 when, Michael Cohen, trump's former fixer and lawyer testified before Congress about the fraud in the trump org. No one is unfairly "going after" trump. The N.Y. AG is doing the job she was elected to do - to investigate and hold accountable anyone who breaks the law.
Even though nobody asked, I'm posting this anyway:
http://www.insider.com/trump-paid-ivanka-700000-plus-for-consulting-times-investigation-says-2020-9
"Trump paid his daughter Ivanka $747,622 for 'consulting,' then deducted it from his taxes, according to a New York Times investigation."
.
* A New York Times investigation into President Donald Trump's tax filings found that from 2010 to 2018, Trump wrote off about $26 million in unexplained consulting fees.
* Among them was $747,622 written off by the Trump Organization, the same amount his daughter Ivanka Trump reported receiving in consulting fees, according to The Times.
* The payment appeared to be related to managing hotel deals that were already part of her job, according to the newspaper. Reporters matched the number to one his daughter disclosed when she joined the White House in 2017.
.
"... President Donald Trump once appeared to pay his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, $747,622 in "consulting fees," then write them off on his taxes, a New York Times investigation found. That figure was among about $26 million in "unexplained 'consulting fees'" that the president wrote off from 2010 to 2018, The Times reported on Sunday. ****Ivanka was apparently paid as a consultant for a job she was already supposed to do.****"
.
"... Ivanka Trump "had been an executive officer of the Trump companies that received profits from and paid the consulting fees for both projects," meaning she appeared to be treated as a consultant on the same hotel deals she was already responsible for managing, the newspaper said. Tax law allows employers to deduct consulting fees as a business expense, but IRS rules specify that to do so, the consulting arrangement must be an "ordinary and necessary" part of operating the business."
.
"... Dambra [a tax expert] said that if the IRS were to challenge the deductions — "and we know that there are audits going on," he said — the agency would want evidence that the consulting work was actually done and that it was necessary. ..."
One of my employees just showed me a copy of the civil complaint (it's public record) and at the very end, there is no prayer for relief. A civil suit for Fraud requires that someone be damaged as a result of the fraud. It doesn't matter what a person values their real estate at. The bank will do an analysis of the value before approving the loan, and if the borrower is asking for more than it's worth, they will simply deny the loan. Those of you that own real estate know that you can't close an escrow without an INDEPENDENT appraisal of the property. In addition, none of the loans were defaulted on, they were all paid in full as agreed. So where are the damages, which is a compulsory element in bringing a civil suit?
A civil suit always ends with a stated amount for damages that the plaintiff allegedly suffered as a result of the defendant's conduct. If they are not sure, they will say something like, "damages of no less than $xxxxxxxxx, and insert the number they expect to be the minimum amount that was lost. In this case, there are no damages alleged. The banks were paid back and were made whole. Generally, valuation suits require a default on the part of the borrower. That didn't happen with any of Trump's loans that are the subject of this complaint. I would be surprised if the judge doesn't grant a demurrer to Trump for failure to state the damages, which renders the complaint defective.
