and publicly appropiate the money saved to help the Tsunami victims (and perhaps other needy areas like AIDS in Africa). That, in my opinion, would be a very worthwhile and proper gesture. I also think that you're still smarting from the embarrassment of your original post "Why I won't be Sending Contributions to the 'Tsunami Victims in Asia' Soon."

I wonder why the Democratic party didn't do that when they had theie inaugurals? We've always had needy people right here in the US.

In doing some research, I find that while the first Clinton inaugural only cost some $700,000, the second Clinton inaugural cost some 12 million. An exhorbitant sum and certainly an outrageous difference between the two, way out of proportion to the economic increase of the time. All of it from generous special interest donators from High Tech and the dot com budding boomers. I was one of them at the time.
While I do believe the amount being spent on the Bush inaugural is excessive considering the world geopolitical situation at this time, the fact is, its almost all being paid for by private donations. Special interests and big business they may be, and the favors are certainly being bought. But there is no doubt these same sources are also being generous with tsunami relief donations. Especially since it is a tax deductible item now.
No guys, this time, the Dems and the left wing have no right to bitch.
Personally, I'd rather work on a 2006 campaign to being back rationality to our Federal government. The Gingrinch did it in 1994, and witness the carnage he has wrought. We need an anti-Newt to help correct the wrongs the right has perpetuated.

Although you were correct in the sense that he wdid mis-speak. Clinton was not disbarred for life, it was only for a specified period of a few years (I can't recall the exact time, in the 5-10 years).
