And I called it in February 2007. Right here.
I just wanted to stop by and say hello, let y'all know that with the selection of Joe Biden as Obama's VP nominee, I've gotten interested again.
I look forward to seeing McCain's choice.
Might be an election worth following after all.
Unless of course, the Evil Empire puts forth its dastardly October Surprise, which would truly come as a surprise to no one.
I told ya so!!!
Should the Dems win the election, I believe a Biden Vice Presidency will lend itself more to the dynamic of a Prime Ministers job handling Foreign Policy matters, an area in which even his harshest critics give Biden props. This would be very good for the US and allow Obama to focus on the domestic issues.
Truthfully, I wouldn't want to see Obama in anything more than figurehead positioning in the foreign policy theatre. His positions are far too naive and reflect a poor understanding of the realpolitik of todays Global theatre.
And yes, of course I have my concerns vis a vis Israel. But if that were my only issue, I'd have been pro-Bush these past 8 years, and pro McCain now. I'm not.
I mean, in the end, it won't really matter because the PTB will still be running things from the shadows.
But at least Biden's selection makes it more interesting.
That's it from the Doc, time for a midnight ride.
That it's acceptable for BHO's naiveté and lack of understanding to screw up the domestic scene as long as Biden keeps him from messing up the international one? LOL
I’m still trying to figure who those darn PTB are. Axlerod? I do occasionally wonder if it includes Soros. Maybe it's the Portland Trail Blazers? Puro Tango Blast? (Texas street gang) Or maybe its the Pass The Buck crowd.

No of course not. But here's the thing. When it comes to fixing our problems at home, we, as Americans really do need to start taking responsibility for our actions HERE AT HOME.
And the best way for that to happen is for some charismatic orator with illusions of Messianic fervor and GodHead to take that energy and channel it into something positive. A Message of Hope!
Meanwhile, while he's occupied with all that nonsense, Biden can work on repairing the damage to our standing in the world community.
And if they're REALLY smart, they'll bring Bill Richardson into the mix as well, Sec'y of State maybe? He'd sure as shit do a better job than Condi Rice.
However, at the end of the day, those nasty PTB's will have it their way regardless.
Who are the PTB's? The ones who will get their way regardless of who is in office. The one's who invest hundreds of millions annually in K Street lobbying firms. The ones who stand the most to gain financially from the activities in the world. The ruthless money and power barons who control such vast sums of wealth they can manipulate world markets to suit their needs, whether it be to finance a war in some third world country, or to buy a multi-million dollar Ferrari on a whim.
In other words, follow the money and you will have your answer.
Let's see who McCain comes up with. Then we can talk.

"The ruthless money and power barons who control such vast sums of wealth they can manipulate world markets to suit their needs, whether it be to finance a war in some third world country, or to buy a multi-million dollar Ferrari on a whim."
If it wasn't for the Power barons where would you buy your panties?? You sure wouldn't be able to make them your self ..
I can only pity the meek and dimwitted who are jealous of the Ferrari owners..
From another angle..If you had ten employees would you want to make a profit on all ten ???
If you have ten thousand employees would you want to make a profit on just the first ten or the whole ten thousand ..
I'm sorry, did you say something?
You either completely misunderstood, or worse, misconstrued my comments.
Please come back when you have something relevant to add.
Like watching a cat playing with a ball of yarn. LOL
she was not asked for her financial records etc. I can hear millions of women across the country saying: "What! she's not good enough".
SEn. Obama is losing the women vote and I suspect, one reason is that there is resentment towards Obama on how he ran his campaign. My liberal "girlfriend" even said the press was sexist. I always remember, the condescending line, Obama said about Clinton in the New Hampshire debate: "Hillary, your nice enough"
THe thing about women, they never forget and the Obama's attacked her personally.
I remember conservatives ridiculed Kerry about this. Apparently, after they've had Bush for 4 years, standards have been lowered. It's the straight bullshit express, but will just still call it the straight-talk express.
No, Obama won't lose the woman vote because Hillary at the convention will bring them back into the fold. And as I'm saying, I think there has been a deal cut that assures this.
I wouldn't want my military records public not necessarily because of me but to protect my comrades. They deserve their privacy and the knowledge they served honorably is all anyone needs to know. What happened while I was in the Army stays in the Army and what happens in the Navy stays in the Navy et al. The reason is simple, events that took place when I was a soldier may very well be not understood outside the context of the military or in the heat of battle.
Have you ever thought McCain is protecting someone else, that perhaps his file is classified etc.? Yesterday, for example two marines refused to testify against their NCO and I would too. The prosecutor who brought those charges against the Marine should be hung.
Now staying on subject, Sen. Obama is losing the women vote or to be specific, those women over 40. I will get the statistics later.

... and the question of his service to his country is beyond reproach.
sure there are those who would like to Swiftboat his imprisonment into some sort of collaborative treason with the enemy, but I'll put as much stock into those sort of swiftboating stories as I did with the original Swiftboaters in 2004.
There are plenty of issues with which to call McCains position on the carpet.
His military record however, is not one of them.
I do not support McCain, but I'm not going to be one of those who vilify him in the name of partisan politics. He has plenty of obvious flaws. Starting with his choice of advisory staff, which is where the REAL energy of "4 more years of Bush doctrine" comes from.
McCain is getting bad advice from bad advisors with loyalties to the old regime. That's his biggest error in judgement so far.
The Democrats could have done alot better than Obama, but they could have done alot worse than Biden.
The Reps got the correct candidate for their party at this time. No other strong GOP contender has the cachet for crossover appeal, which is the only way the GOP could keep the WH
in '08.
But if he listens to the idiots and panders to the PTB's and the repressive base of the GOP (Evangelicals and other devolved creatures resembling humanity) instead of the true Goldwater conservatives who originally put him in office, it won't matter who he chooses as running mate.
I really have no clue as to who he will pick.... so many BAD choices out there with votes they bring to the table...
If I were religious I would now be praying that he does not pick Romney or any other "real conservative" The reason that he was the only electable Republican was and is his crossover appeal. To sell out to the far right now would be a horrible mistake IMO.
I would have been thrilled to see either Ridge or Leiberman, but it appears that McCain is caving to his base. Governor Christ would be a good choice, but I don't see it in the cards. Unfortunately I think it will be Romney, and the only thing I am thankful for is that fact that VP is largely a ceremonial office. If it's Romney I am going to repeat that on a daily basis.
McCains lack of support fot the efforts to force disclosure on the "secret" POWS held back by the Soviet Union.
Doc, if you're as good at picking horses, we need to head for the track. My treat!
that you weren't the only one with a crystal ball. It looks like Harry's radar was working pretty good that day too.
Unfortunately I think McCain is going to make what he thinks is a safe pick and choose Romney. I think that will be a huge mistake. I'll still vote for him, as the alternative is still unthinkable to me, but I believe there are many slightly left of center voters that won't see it that way. I hope I'm wrong and that McCain keeps trying to appeal to the center and not to the right.
Tom Ridge, Charlie Christ, Joe Leiberman, all would all have been better picks IMO. McCains strength is the perception that he is actually a Democrat in Republican clothing. He alone out of the Repulican party had the ability to get all but the worst of the "Bush Haters" to vote for him. If he is perceived to be just another Republican or McBush as Moosie likes to call him, he could leave the door wide open for Obama.
Sara Palin, Governor of Alaska. I think this will rock the boat beyond belief. She is decisive and has done lot of good things in Alaska.
This will also split the feminist Hillary block.
he's really in a pickle. He's been taking the religious right, the right to lifers and the true conservatives for granted. If he picks someone too liberal or a pro choice person a certain number WILL stay home. You know that there are some that will put principles over pragetism. The question is, will that number be higher or lower than the votes he will pick up with a "Lieberman" pick?
I'd like to see some kind of wild card pick. Maybe Bobby Jindal or maybe a woman
-- Modified on 8/23/2008 4:47:31 PM
but I wonder how many of the "true" conservatives will actually stay home and risk the chances of Obama winning? I would think and hope that their loathing of Obama would trump their ambivalence towards McCain. Of course I could be guilty of the same wishful thinking that I see in people like Zin and Moosie.
You are the political-propthet!
As far as McCain's snore-fest VP [who gives a fuck} pick, My prophecy is he'll pick my closet-homo, limp-wristed, big-talking/zero-action governor... Which will lull the 5% of the population that give a shit who McCain picks into a coma and effectively end his run for prez early... HOWEVER, if McCain picked Lieberman, then I'D even come out of my igloo to vote for mcCain's corpse in hope he'll win and be pronounced dead at the inagural-ball... THEN America MIGHT have a chance of surviving another decade or two!
