It appears you read the article you linked but either didn't understand what it said OR are just making some grand predictions of what you'd like to see.  They are throttling back production at ONE facility and in talks with the union to make the best scenario for the company as well as the workers and take this time to make improvements to said facility.  It almost sounds like the company is doing the opposite of what a wicked, bottom-line rich old white men board of directors would do.

A lot more going on than just "tariffs".     People are ignoring how whiskey company of Old Smokey is taking the liquor world by storm.   The small craft "bourbon" snob culture of the millennials and Gen Z.   That is steering away from your standard Jack and Beam.   Why do you think they had to come out with the products they have in the past few years.... multiple flavored whiskey/bourbons.... more "aged" bourbons/whiskeys.... etc.    To stay in that shifting market.   Those two age groups are moving towards pre-mixed can cocktails and seltzers.  

Then like you mentioned with the rise in cannabis drinks and legalization of recreational cannabis.   This has taken a hit on all alcohol sales across the board.    People are turning towards edibles.    Pop a gummy and you only need 1 glass of whiskey instead of 3 as a "night cap"..... if you need one at all.    

 
Like you mentioned..... tariffs with Canada halted some sales but not the "exaggerated" amount that the OP's article want it to be.    Other market dynamics are at play.      Like I keep mentioning....people want a scapegoat and ORANGE MAN BAD is an easy one.    

 
Articles don't want to hit on or talk about market shifts, consumer tastes/trends, etc.  They want Orange man bad because that is easy and will make 1/2 the country happy.   But if you don't believe in market shifts.... go look.    If you don't think so.... why are more and more seltzers popping up on the market?  Why more and more "pre-mixed" cocktails in the can are popping up on the market?   BECAUSE THEY ARE SELLING.   Same goes for your flavored whiskies.... why do you think Old Smoky keeps coming out with new flavors....same goes for your Crown, Jim, Jack, etc.  Hell beer companies are shifting towards flavored beers (Busch/bud light apple, peach, lime)   The market shifts which if you are late to the game or not ready for it.  You will have losses or need to have shutdowns to shift into that direction.

 
People forget about the Bourbon explosion and people predicting the "bourbon bubble" in the early 2000's.   When tastes shifted towards bourbon.   New distilleries popping up everywhere.... local ones.  

 
Here is the thing with Alcohol industry.... it always shifts back.    There was a micro-brew explosion late 80's early 90's.... it faded.    Then the "craft brewery" explosion happened about 5-10 years ago...and now that trend is slowing.   With smaller breweries closing doors because of the saturated market.  Same will go for this with Jim/Jack.   It will have up swings and down swings.

I never understood why people were always wanting Sadan's head.    His record speaks for itself.   His track record of recruiting amazing athletes that eventually make it to the pro's.   He did have losses, but he is also not the one missing tackles, dropping balls, making throws, etc..... or when an injury happens in the middle of the game.

SOON in college coaching is two to three years.... not IMMEDIATELY.   I guess you fucks don't watch sports.   Programs give coaches 2-3 years for recruiting.    But yeah.... be fucking liberals when proved wrong.     FANS wanted him gone because of the distraction of his girlfriend.

These liberal dimwits show that they just want to argue to argue.   SOON in the college coaching world is 3 years.  Like I explained.   They give chances to recruit, build coaching staffs, etc.    It is rarely 1-2 years unless something drastic happens.   Just like you outlined.....ie: Distractions (GF), scandals (look at MICH), asking for things that the school wont do, etc.     It used to be 5 but now with NIL the time frame has moved up.

But then the two brain trusts couldn't take it when I broke down how UNC could get out from the contract after they brought it up without penatly..... you know they way that most Coaches/colleges draw up contracts to be that 3-year exit type plan OR at that 3-year time frame is when coaches who are winning start to "look elsewhere" to put pressure on extensions/renegotiations.  This way the college can let them walk without buy outs if the price tag is too high and look elsewhere....or sign them up again.  

 
But yeah..... if you notice when these two brain trusts talk about business sometimes, they miss the mark.
