I'm quite sure there will be a liberal spin in response, but the poll results of over 39,000 respondants shows that 44% think the trial of Saddam will be legitimate and 47% don't while 9% are unsure.  This is Aljazeer!   From everything seen from American media, one gets the impression that the whole middle east hates us, but do you think if that were the case, almost half of them would believe that we would provide a fair trial for Saddam Hussein?

This doesn't surprise me, I lived in the Middle East for many years and it is common knowledge that other Arab nations never liked Saddam. This is another reason why there could have never been any link between Saddam's regime and Bin Laden.

the new government, which must also mean that those same people must also have some trust in George Bush in carrying this through and giving them their freedom.

A perceptive post about human nature - I agree with your assessment of the perspective that average Iraqis are likely to have right now.

I was simply offering information that showed the respondants in the middle east and/or those that follow AlJeezar in a similar ratio to that of America's approval or disapproval of how the war is going.  My original point was to be my surprise of not seeing this poll heavily favoring an illegitamate trial because all we see in our media is how we are hated throughout the middle east.  If that were the case, would almost half of the population over there (or those that follow that media) consider a trial that we are certainly controlling fair?

The Arab listeners of Al Jazeer will answer that the hated US will give Saddam a "fair" trial because they are only to happy to see us punish Saddam, who they also hate.

it's NOT. I know how you hate my using things like FACTS and DATA and links to web sites with the like on them, so I'll just say trust me, if you looked for a poll about how the Iraqis felt about the war, THEY'RE NOT IN FAVOR OF IT ! ! !

2nd point, now you're saying that WE (the USA, Bush Administration) are behind the scenes pulling the strings and
"certainly controlling" this trial ? that can't be true can it ? didn't we say it's THEIR country NOW, and we are only Santa(uadi)'s Lil Helper, we didn't, ummmmmm what's the word, ummmmmm LIE to them DID WE ?
