Don't we have a right to live? Isn't the second amendment in conflict with the principle of right to live and in pursuit of happiness, etc?  

We can't take precautions to avoid getting killed by gun violence. There is nothing we can do to protect ourselves as long as guns are easily available to all.  

Why aren't the gun manufacturers and sellers liable? Is the legal system in cahoots with the NRA?

The law is called the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act..

And unfortunately the NRA/Congress has limited or curtailed funding for any research or study to be performed by the CDC in regards to guns.

Basically a person or company cannot be held liable for damages caused by an instrumentality for which they no longer have the right of control.  There are exceptions though, such as giving a gun to a person you know to be unstable or had the known intent of committing a crime.  

Tobacco companies were held liable because they knew that tobacco products caused cancer and were unsafe.  With such knowledge came  the duty to warn that the products could cause cancer. Not only did tobacco companies not warn about it, they engaged in advertising that basically lied about the harmful effects of smoking.  

Gun manufacturers have warned about the safety hazards for literally over a century.  They even recommend getting training.   Gun manufacturers and sellers can still be successfully sued for product defects or negligent entrustment, ie selling a gun to a person who it knew was crazy and warned against selling a gun to.  

This is no more rights given to a gun maker/seller than you have against getting sued for a guy who bought a car from you later getting into an accident.  You no longer had the right of control over either the guy or your former car. The sale of the car is too remote of an event to create liability.

They're just taxed more, it's refer to as the Cigarette tax. I'd like to see guns and their ammo taxed more during the purchase. How effective will it be, who knows. But it'll help pay for the cost where any gun crime in committed.

I recall several settlements of liability especially the master settlement between 4 large tobacco companies and attorneys general of 46 states in the late nineties.

There was also this $100 million settlement in 2015.

I don't blame gun manufactures for mass shooting directly, they don't create the laws ,I blame the people who makes the major  laws that govern this land - Congress .With a 2/3 vote they can ban these war gun and put an end to all this bullshit ,they don't even need the signature of donnidouchebag.

But many of the republican politicians  are owned by the NRA ....and by other contributor to their campaign who has a stake in the matter.

This is one amendment we could do without.

Huck is on record as wanting ALL guns banned and there are millions more where they came from. Most of them of course are just like the anti-abortionists who just "claim" they only want "common sense legislation"

 
First we ban scary looking assault weapons" and when that does nothing to reduce gun  violence, next it will be all semi-automatic weapons, and when that doesn't work, the anti-gunners will move to every other type of weapon until their ultimate goal of disarming the American public is complete. Now why don't you lecture us about how ARs and M-16s are so astoundingly different.  But then, there's this. No doubt you'll claim not to read it because it's a NY Times link.  So I'll summarize it.
The fact that M-16s can be fully automatic is irrelevant, because in the Armed forces they are either issued as semi-automatics or the troops are trained to use them as semis because they are far more accurate that way.

Guns are responsible for thousands of innocents getting killed. Do some bloody thing to stop these nonsensical killings.
