We all know that you hate Bush, that he's either a bumbling chimp or the antichrist.

How about getting back to reality? How dare the terroists put the American left in such a bad position by documenting the obvious, the truth about the situation.

452 raids since al-Zarqawi's death, 104 insurgents killed...

No terroist attacks today? Only Fox reported that.

Enjoy....

Text of al-Zarqawi Safe-House Document
Jun 15 8:58 AM US/Eastern
By The Associated Press
Text of a document discovered in terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi'shideout. The document was provided in English by Iraqi National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie:
___
The situation and conditions of the resistance in Iraq have reached a point that requires a review of the events and of the work being done inside Iraq. Such a study is needed in order to show the best means to accomplish the required goals, especially that the forces of the National Guard have succeeded in forming an enormous shield protecting the American forces and have reduced substantially the losses that were solely suffered by the American forces. This is in addition to the role, played by the Shi'a (the leadership and masses) by supporting the occupation, working to defeat the resistance and by informing on its elements.
As an overall picture, time has been an element in affecting negatively the forces of the occupying countries, due to the losses they sustain economically in human lives, which are increasing with time. However, here in Iraq, time is now beginning to be of service to the American forces and harmful to the resistance for the following reasons:
1. By allowing the American forces to form the forces of the National Guard, to reinforce them and enable them to undertake military operations against the resistance.
2. By undertaking massive arrest operations, invading regions that have an impact on the resistance, and hence causing the resistance to lose many of its elements.
3. By undertaking a media campaign against the resistance resulting in weakening its influence inside the country and presenting its work as harmful to the population rather than being beneficial to the population.
4. By tightening the resistance's financial outlets, restricting its moral options and by confiscating its ammunition and weapons.
5. By creating a big division among the ranks of the resistance and jeopardizing its attack operations, it has weakened its influence and internal support of its elements, thus resulting in a decline of the resistance's assaults.
6. By allowing an increase in the number of countries and elements supporting the occupation or at least allowing to become neutral in their stand toward us in contrast to their previous stand or refusal of the occupation.
7. By taking advantage of the resistance's mistakes and magnifying them in order to misinform.
Based on the above points, it became necessary that these matters should be treated one by one:
1. To improve the image of the resistance in society, increase the number of supporters who are refusing occupation and show the clash of interest between society and the occupation and its collaborators. To use the media for spreading an effective and creative image of the resistance.
2. To assist some of the people of the resistance to infiltrate the ranks of the National Guard in order to spy on them for the purpose of weakening the ranks of the National Guard when necessary, and to be able to use their modern weapons.
3. To reorganize for recruiting new elements for the resistance.
4. To establish centers and factories to produce and manufacture and improve on weapons and to produce new ones.
5. To unify the ranks of the resistance, to prevent controversies and prejudice and to adhere to piety and follow the leadership.
6. To create division and strife between American and other countries and among the elements disagreeing with it.
7. To avoid mistakes that will blemish the image of the resistance and show it as the enemy of the nation.

documented how everything Bush did was absolutely correct. You forgot to put the last point though where al-Zarqawi said that Brownie really did do a "hecuva job."

Dude, I have a bridge for sale.

What relly koncerns me is if that is ackurate, then may be them republicins were right and then we will never get back into office.  I'd rathre see us pull out now and git while the gittins good.  After all,  we don't need to lose any  more of our boys over there.  I don't believe that failure in Iraq wuld help them terrorist no way.  With us gone, they wouldnt claim victry and start messin with us over here.  I think they wuld respect a smarter, kinder, gentler president who wuz more of a world team player like mebbe kerry or Hillary.  She is one of the smartest womyn on the planet.  she would get us out of there before we screw up and win this thing.

If there were any real documents to be found, Bushwacker and Chainy would have them classified.  Period.

This is as believable as the video outtakes of Zarqawi. Yes, I'm openly accusing the administration of lying to sell its war.

[[452 raids since al-Zarqawi's death, 104 insurgents killed...]]

Body counts assume you kill the right fellow.  That is not something to bank on.  Even when you did, every fellow whose relatives think he was innocent, is going to be replaced by those relatives.  May as well get it over with and kill them all.

Wake up and smell the coffee!!  Do you see how much resentment and hatred Mexicans cause just by coming to look for work?  How much cooperation do you think a foreign army would get in the USA?  Why should ANY other nation be different?  During our own civil war, many southerners, even some blacks, took up arms for the confederates just because the invaders were strangers, not like them.

A body count is a sign of desperation, that you are reduced to an irrelevant number to prove you are "making progress".

So, Fox reported there were no terrorist attacks.  Presumably because it's news.  Most agencies don't report things that don't happen.  Why would Fox be different?

which any debt collector will recognize, that is, the compulsion to throw good money after bad.

It's real easy to break things.   Making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, that is, bringing democracy to the ignorant and unwilling, is hard enough, but it is not something Marines can do.   Riflemen are not social workers, and putting them in that role does nothing except risk their lives.

If that is our goal, it would be real good to have a plan - how exactly is this going to work?  You send a quarter million armed PFCs to occupy these Arabs on behalf of a country that most of them regard as inherently immoral?  And be sure to tell them that you're there for their own good.  That will make all the difference to them.

It's not that the administration doesn't know this; it's that's not their concern.  Their concern is maintaining power by giving their base what it wants.

I don't think we should be attributing any deficiencies of 'harpomarx' to those of his illustrious namesake, the real Harpo Marx.

Harpo Marx, besides being a bonafide comic genius who starred in the Night at the Opera and Animal Crackers, was also an extraordinary musician and a member of the Algonquin Roundtable.

Possibly Dorothy Parker, another member of the Algonquin Roundtable, might have said of our 'harpomarx' that his comments "aren't worth the computer screen they're rotten on".

Thanks for the research.

Good to take lessons from that Vietnam thing.  Lets see,  how about no offensive operations by the VC for 4 years after TET because they were pretty much spent.  How about Pol Pot gettin into power in Cambodia after we left Southeast Asia and 2.5 million killed in the followin genocide.  Yep.  We better cut and run now.  Besides Iraq is hot, I'd rather fight them Islamic Jihadists over here anyways. At least we wuld have our important allies with us on that one.  They are doin such a good job in Darfur, we couldnt help but win with them smarter fellers backin us!

*You'd* rather fight?   Or you'd rather have *somebody else* fight?   Who's going to cut and run?      I'm guessing it wouldn't be you - you're deferred for life.

Because I think Bush 1 was the last Republican who actually wore a uniform.  Because if you had ever put a uniform on, you'd know to pick your fights, and use your FUCKING HEAD.

If the VC were beaten after Tet, why couldn't we finish the job, in the 7 years following?  Maybe because the only group more unpopular than the VC, were the round-eyes?

Actually since you ask, I served in the first Gulf War and did a career in the Army.  How about you?  Probably the only thing on your resume is protesting on campus or firebombing an ROTC building for peace.

Tell me there field marshall, how many ground offensive operations took place north of the 17th Parallel?  How many times did Haiphong get bombed?  How many times did the US practice unrestricted warfare in Southeast asia???? NONE.  Why?  Because of the fear of the Chinese entering directly into the conflict.  Why was that?  Because they did it once before in 1950 in Korea.  That was a lesson leared.  What do you think the message or lesson learned by our future adversaries  by doing the cut and run advocated by the democratic party and the mainstream media? Well lets see, don't stand toe to toe with the US Military cause you will lose, but if you fight a guerrilla war, the US does not have the backbone or national will to win.  That is true of the Liberals in this country, but I don't think it applies to most of America.  Unfortunately, no one has put Russ (watch me chase this ambulance) Feingold and his ilk on the spot for this and the implications of the policy that he advocates.
Lets look at this objectively.  Iraq in 4 years and the casualty count is only 85% of the cost in lives of the 9-11 attacks.  It is roughly equal to the number of murders in Chicago over the same period.  Maybe we should get out of Chicago by the end of the year too.

I was active duty in the late 60s thru 80.  USMC field artillery, 0802.  Pardon me if I indulge in the (statistically correct) assumption that Republicans are all chickenhawks.

My training was not to get people into a fight they weren't going to win.

Standing in the kill zone thumping your chest may be thrilling as hell for a PFC or politician, but responsible people don't indulge, because the thrill only lasts until a couple people get blown away.

you seem to think that all we needed to do was punish the NVA enough.   Bomb the right target, or roll up the ground.  Never mind that we couldn't secure the ground in the south, or that bombing alone has never won a war.

Ironically, you turn around and point out the Chinese card, and of course the Soviet one behind that.   Yes, we could take our chances with those fellows, and what are the odds?   What would be the likely progress of that expedition?

The problem was simple:  all politics is local.  The locals almost always prefer their own bastards to the foreign bastards.  At least they understand what they're saying.

Sure people have short memories.  If all of Iraq hated Saddam, they still have to deal with today's issues today - fighting their own neighbors (foreign and domestic) and getting water & power into their own neighborhoods.   The mere presence of armed foreigners is a political aggravation, unless they are handing out Bens, and even that will be taken for granted after a while.

Objectively, you neglect to point out that the city of Chicago hires and trains and pays their own police.   That is not true of the Iraqi govt w/r/t the coalition, is it?  Do you suppose it makes a difference?

Let me tell you a story.  We just got thru installing a PM in Iraq.   Do you think he's our man?  I know 1 iraqi who claims he was fired by this same fellow, saying, "if you like the Americans so much, go work for the Americans."

THAT is the reality of foreign policy.   Look at how much hatred the Mexicans have stirred up when they just come to mow your lawn.   Do you think the Iraqis - or ANYBODY - likes foreigners coming and banging on their doors to arrest their sons?   Do you think we can turn our back on these fellows for 10 minutes?

Soldiers are not social workers.  If you want to win a political campaign, hire an ad agency.  You CANNOT make a person like you by pointing a weapon at him.  When you point a weapon at him, you may as well go ahead and use it on him, because sooner or later, you will have to.

The press and the hippies did not lose Vietnam, and Murtha will not lose Iraq.  Ignorant and disingenous politicians got us into something they couldn't get us out of.   It only took McNamara about 3 years to figure it out; but Nixon was much stupider.

Military people typically maintain a positive attitude, as Westmoreland did.   However, you have to be objective, and look at the mechanisms of conflict, and the probabilities that the critical things will turn your way to make your plan work.  Any plan that involves indefinite policing of a foreign population is an invitation to insurgency.

Don't march your people into a kill zone and then tell them to "stay the course" while you're sitting on your fat ass in an air conditioned office.   In my experience, soldiers don't mind going in harm's way, as long as you're not wasting their lives in an unattainable goal.   In my view, your first duty to them is, don't waste their lives.   And that is pretty much what the Republicans are doing.   I have yet to see anybody articulate how US occupation of Iraq for what period of time is going to be a cure that is not as bad as the disease.

It takes real chutzpah for a person to say, jeez, I see no similarities with Vietnam.  Or that it's up to me to point out dissimilarities.

That's because the present Republican position is untenable, and they have to resort to lies and BS.  And that is precisely why I have no patience.  They're liars.
