Thanks for clearing up where you sit on the race issue.

While you attempt to stand in the doorway, African Americans have made huge strides in just about every facet of American life.  Almost none of them aided by the republican party since their back was turned in the 70s.

But thank you once again giving us the cracker perspective.  While guys like you are threatened by the social, ethnic, and sexual revolutions, the rest of us welcome more folks to the table.  Thank you also for confirming my impression of your politics as turn back the clock reaction and not true conservatism.

Bush's Hometown Newspaper Endorses Kerry
=========================================
Tue Sep 28, 2004 01:19 PM ET

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - The newspaper in President Bush's adopted hometown of Crawford threw its support on Tuesday behind Bush's Democratic rival, Sen. John Kerry.
The weekly Lone Star Iconoclast criticized Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and for turning budget surpluses into record deficits. The editorial also criticized Bush's proposals on Social Security and Medicare.

"The publishers of The Iconoclast endorsed Bush four years ago, based on the things he promised, not on this smoke-screened agenda," the newspaper said in its editorial. "Today, we are endorsing his opponent, John Kerry."

It urged "Texans not to rate the candidate by his hometown or even his political party, but instead by where he intends to take the country."

Bush spends many of his weekends and holidays at his Crawford, Texas, ranch.

The Iconoclast's publisher and editor-in-chief, W. Leon Smith, said the newspaper is sent to Bush's ranch each week. "But I don't know if he reads it," Smith said.

The Kerry campaign welcomed the endorsement in an email to reporters.

Which, to my mind, is straight down the toilet.

Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to rant for a second.

My politics are center-right economically and center-left socially, kind of like Clinton. My two favorite Presidents were Clinton, because I made a shitload of dough when he was President, and Nixon, who no one would ever mistake for a liberal (even true diehard liberals admire his greatness as President), and who no Communist dared fuck with. Reagan would get the bronze. I am hardly a liberal.

Frankly, in my most humble opinion, Witless will be remembered 100 years from now as the worst President in American history. He passed Carter 9 months into his term. Now, let there be no misunderstanding, American politics, from the top on down, is as corrupt as any Third World nation (excepting Nigeria and other African nations, and most of SE Asia). Even by that measure, it is still the most criminal and incompetent Administration in the history of this country. Moreover, having looked at Witless' resume, he has been twice arrested for DUI has had a cocaine problem in the past, which are passes any other candidate not named Bush would never receive. He has completely fucked up every business he's been responsible for-Harkin, Arbusto, Texas Rangers, etc.

When Halliburton was caught charging you, the taxpayer, $3 a gallon of gas in Iraq (when it cost something like 80 cents), his response was "well, if it's true, they'll just have to pay it back."

What bristles me the most is the shrill cry of the far right, where you're a Communist, or worse a liberal (meaning seidtious) if you disagree with any of W's policies. It's kind of funny, because the Christian right thinks they're running this country, where it appears to be those heathen Zionists from Israel who are running guys like W, Cheney, Wolfie, Perle, etc.

The most amazing thing is that over half the country (if you believe the polls) think W should be reelected. Now, don't misunderstand, don't believe that crap about "liberal bias". The guys who dominate the talk radio format, Rush, Hannity, O'Lielly, are hard core right wing. Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who is the Queen's boy. It must have killed Rupert to have been born Aussie, not British. Are we that brainwashed or that stupid? Probably a little of both.

Funny, I didn't see where people (except for myself) who pointed to Al Gore's inability to carry his homestate in 2000.  So what if Crawford's newspaper endorsed Kerry?  They are probbably sick of all the attention & stuff upsetting their quiet lives.  Besides, I would do damm near anything to keep Max Clealand from returning to my hometown.

Is probaly three times the man you are.  You should not speak so disrepectfully of a person that went to war and lost limbs for this country.

Um, do I need to read the first amendment to you?  Do I need to remind you that I still have freedom of speech and thought?

Do you know Max Cleland?  Have you met him?  Do you work with him?  Do you know his work ethic?  Do you know anyting about him?  If I were you I would not be so quick to defend someone that you don't know.

And yes, I know him - and he's a lying sack of shit.  IMHO (PM me if you want more info)

P.S.  BTW, where's his purple heart?  He lost 3 limbs in Vietnam to a grenade in a helicopter landing.  Funny the hypocrites of the left make such a big deal about Kerry's papercut purple hearts but people like Max fared much worse but didn't degrade themselves by self-nominations for for awards.

It's funny how people on the left tend to talk about things they know nothing about.

What can you say about a political party that ran an ad of Cleland, a legitimate VN war hero, comparing him to OBL?

The neocon wing of the GOP is all about power, nothing more, nothing less. It's all about scoring the W, nothing more, nothing less. Their political agenda is to take the country back to the 11th Century, when we had Lords and Serfs and not citizens. In the South, they have more or less succeeded.

The GOP's strategy in the South has been divide and conquer. Promise the whites their neighbourhoods will stay white, disenfranchise the black vote, pick both their pockets at the same time. Very similar to what the "Dixiecrats" used to do before they all got mad at LBJ for signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

"Southern whites have been voting Republican for 35 years and have absolutely nothing to show for it."
                                  -John Edwards

Anyone want to take on the good Senator about his statement?

I remember being in college in the very late seventies when the Iran revolution took place and Americans were taken hostage.  I remember college "boys" who had no fucking clue of what war was like running around campus yelling "nuke them", like that was an option for dealing with Iran with our people there.
The most ardent warriors are normally those who either never saw what it can do, or did not learn anything from seeing it's devastation firsthand.
I am completely sickened when someone disrepects a person that has sacrificed for this country as Cleland has.  I wonder about a person that would disrepect a legitimate warrior in such a clueless fashion.  For some reason, I cannot get past imagining the disrespectful person as some tatooed arm, goiter throated, bird chested, cowardly, little freak.

Just what is it in you world that they should have to show for it other than the freedom to live their lives?

Nationally blacks have been voting for democrats for 44 years, and have nothing but the destruction of their families, slavery to the new "Boss", welfare and the joy in seeing Ghetto Pimps like Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, etal get rich keeping them down!

Not that I mind, it is symbolic of what is killing the democratic party!  It's truly in the great legacy of Sdstud, now working full time in Kerry's pathetic campaign.  I am somewhat disappointed that you didn't throw some "Baby Killers and Burning Village" lines into your rant.

John Edwards is just a slick white guy wantabee Ghetto Pimp!  Shit the guy is such a lightweight that you guys have him in hiding!  When's the last time you saw Edwards in the news?  Giving his "Two America's" speech in South Central Los Angeles?

Oh, and being a disabled Veteran does not make you immune from being completely out of step with the people of the state that originally elected you.  Cleland ran as a moderate and made a huge left turn, it didn't represent the people of Georgia and they canned him.

the Republican Party is the reason the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed!  Not even a majority of dems supported it.

I believe that Black Americans have the intelligence to see the empty promises of the democratic party.  And now it is happening, a 10 point movement in 2 months towards Bush.

Again your race baiting bullshit, "While you attempt to stand in the doorway" is supposed to reveal Republican racism?  What really is scary is that I believe that you actually believe that tripe!

Black Americans are making great strides because they are working harder & smarter!

Who's the racist, those who want an equal level playing field or those who think Black Americans "NEED" a leg up, which never comes?

Kerry's and your divide and conquer rants are rapidly falling on deaf ears.  Here's a link to what five Black congressman think about your efforts, and Black America is listening!

I like Max. I've met him before at VFW events. I voted for him when he first ran for the Senate. I honor his service to his country, but he's not a War Hero. He'll even admit it. Max lost three limbs because he picked up a grenade that he should'nt have.

And before anyone starts with the Bush attacked Max's patriotism bullshit, know this: Max lost his Senate seat here in Georgia because he was not acting on behalf of the majority of Georgia voters' interests.

I feel sorry for Max. He's being used as a pawn by the Kerry campaign. Unfortunately, he's let bitterness from losing his Senate seat cloud his judgement. And now he's acting as a partisan hack. Very sad.

You're a smart guy. Dude, Saxby Chambliss. Get real!

I'm still going with the ad as the reason why he lost. He went from +16% a week before the election to -6%. That's a huge drop.

Yeah, do you think his drop had anything to do with his performance  or was it all some right wing consperacy?

Like I said, I know Max Clealand & his is a pile of human shit, not even worthy to take the time to scrape off one's boot.

Saxby certainly wasn't my ideal choice, but he's a far better alternative than Max. Which is the reason why Max lost.

That a newspaper would support a democrat.

Whats even more shocking is that you think it means shit to Texan voters!

Bush will win Texas by 60%!

BY 60% or WITH 60%?  You think the dems are gonna poll only 20%?

Even an Aggie can figger better'n at!
