The TER Discussion Board Administrator has announced a new policy as to some of the discussion boards designed in part to make the boards friendly to new posters. I welcome this change and hope that the posters on this Board will embrace it fully.

       We all know that there are only about 10 to 15 posters who regularly post on the Board and the posting suffers greatly from this inbreeding. Now, while I have absolutely no problem with anyone saying Marikod “you are an idiot,” I do take great umbrage when a new or rare poster comes on the Board, posts something, and is immediately met with derision and personal attacks. This is particularly true as to some of the ladies, who may not have the time, interest, or education sufficient to meet the “high posting standards” of some of our 24/7 posters.

         If a post is really stupid, there is no need for someone to point that out. We all recognize it. When you do, all you accomplish is to trash the Board and discourage the less hardy from posting here.

      Among the battle hardened P & R veterans, I see no particular need for a change but even there it would be preferable to keep the really hard personal criticism - “you are an asshole” - in the body of the post rather than the caption. I have always suspected that when new posters peruse the Board and see captions like that, their interest in joining us in discussion wanes.

My thanks to the TER Discussion Board Administrator for being sensitive to this issue.

Why this policy change ? Following quote from a poster says it all :"There isn't a goddam thing wrong here other than some people have thin skins"

Essentially the changes mean that the TER boards are to become more user friendly & politically correct to welcome new posters. That means, according to Marikod,"invectives & obscenities"
should be kept out of the captions. To further the unwelcome changes, "rotating mods" will have access to your IP addresses.

This is nothing more than "invasive censorship" ( wehre's Mein when you need him ? ) to encourage
initially sensitive newbies who are not used to board rough & tumble,not to be chased away. Abject nonsense. TER is gonna make a hooker/john Board MORE empathetic ?!-----talk about a contradiction in terms-----LMAO ! Look, "if you
can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen" to quote Truman. If one can't handle the roughhousing & "discussion board bulies" ( another oxymoron ) than what business do you have being on this board ?! How do these folks handle stress in the off-line world ?

There are ALREADY safeguards on the boards; posters who spam, give out personal info on others & threaten are given lifetime bans from the boards. isn't that enough ?!

All these changes will do is deplete the boards further. IMO, not a good idea.

 P@R won't change though I don't care either way .
 I've been moderated before and lived through it no problem .

 The city boards could be  more accommodating to new hobbyists.

 Everyone doesn't have thick skin .
 No business sense in allowing broke blow hard posters,
chase away prospective paying customers .
 

 
 I don't think TER will allow revolving mods to have access to  private info
like the regular mods have .
 
That could easily present a danger  to the ladies from stalkers .

As fur the GD bored, i think it shud also go the waye of the Atl and FL boreds n get rotatin crewse directors to. Since Sum of the mods for those boreds (FL, ATL) are tha same for the GD bored, the GD mods shud be replaced wit rotatin crewsse directers to.

    Yeah - you are right - there is nothing wrong with the way the Boards are being operated. Deplete the Boards further? P & R is on life support now doing it your way. I'm surprised TER doesn't do a cost benefit analysis and cancel this Board.

If you were running TER, you would be fired for being this clueless.

     I realize that you are not a paid subscriber but, if everyone was like you, TER - which gets almost no revenue from advertisers - would not be able to exist. Your ability to freeload is based on some of these sensitive souls being willing to pay for VIP.

It aint a secret that SUM of the TER mods (not all) play favuhrites. They don't enforce the TER rules to ALL the TER members. They let there gud friends n the gurls they shill fore do whatevuh they want (see the TER Genereal bored for LOTS of examples). SUM of these mods dont give no shit bout the privacy and anonymitee of TER members eether.

This newe policee by TER Admin n owners is a GRATE first step in gittin rid of SUM mods who thinke there all powahful n untoucheable. it puts the powah of the boreds back in the hands of TER Admin n owners n TER members, not jus SUM mods who abused there powuh ovah n ovah again.

Whether you like or dislike what pri posts (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't), he happens to be right here.  First of all, this board IS moderated although less heavily than other boards.  He has stopped various "flame wars" including one of mine very recently.  The mod does post occasionally and it's obviously gambler.  Not sure how you jokers missed it. Second, he doesn't cut pri any slack and generally calls bullshit on him (using an obvious alias) quite frequently because he disagrees with a post. Wake up.  Or don't, I could care less.

Way it stands now I refuse to pay for the abuse, but that, like everything else is subject to change..

I donate and support all the other boards I participate on.. But, I just couldn't bring myself to pay for TER with the way newbies are treated..

I'm only new to posting, BUT, I've used TER as a VERY valuable tool for hobbying many years and would love to donate to their cause, but found it hard because of ALL the abuse allowed..

I wish we all would try to be civil to each other a little more often. And I wish we would be civil to newbies.

But the rotating mod thing is a bad idea. The fewer people who have access to my personal info, the more secure I am. The same goes for everyone else.
