'''A simple north-south slip of the tongue or not, Sarah Palin's latest gaffe couldn't have come at a worse time for the Tea Party icon, geo-politically speaking.

In a live radio interview Wednesday with equally popular conservative host Glenn Beck, Palin twice referred to North Korea as America's ally and urged President Obama to firmly demonstrate the alliance.

The first reference was the less glaring mistake.

"We're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea is going to do," Palin told Beck.

It's unclear whether she referenced the correct Korea and simply misused the term "sanction" -- which, as stated, means to approve or validate, or if she meant to say South Korea, the U.S. ally, in reference to any actions that nation may take in retaliation to past or future attacks from the North.

One might even have missed that gaffe, had she not said just seconds later: "Obviously, we gotta stand with our North Korean allies." :)

     I think from the context she clearly was using "sanction" to mean punishment, not validate or approve. That is her criticism of Mr. Obama - that he's soft. There is no issue at this time as to whether we should approve something South Korea would do, so the writer's interpretation makes no sense.

   The second one was a clear slip of the tongue.

I don't watch Dancing with the Stars, as it conflicts with my favorite reality show (MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL), and Two and Half Men. I was hoping that Bristol Palin would win just so it would piss off a few of my liberal friends who actually watch that stupid show.

...I'd say the 38th parallel. Checked it on wikipedia and it looks like it's a good thing weed doesn't affect my memory too much. I hadn't thought about that since high school.  

Of course, geography questions are less important for a candidate for political office to know than political questions regarding why and how two countries became divided.

I submit that despite I'm too young to hold the office, that I am far more qualified to be President than Mrs. Palin.

..... a person a wealth of experience and since you have never been a GOV Palin would be more qualified :) Working for the US Govt in your position is not leadership like GOV Palin had  but keep trying to convince yourself as you will not get people on the forum to think it true :)

I do question her competence however, and I refuse to vote for anyone who truly believes that the world is only six thousand years old.

Carter made us the laughingstock of the world, Obama is making them laugh behind our backs even louder. Palin would have them laughing to our face. Whatever respect we still command around the world, yes I know that is very little, would dry up in an instant if Palin were to become POTUS.

Sarah is not dumb, she is the greatest opportunist the world has seen in this century. As you said, dumb as door nail, defeated VP candidate, unknown until then, governor of a state with one of the lowest population in the union, and had a net worth of ~ $850,000 when was candidate.

Earned $12 million in two years and after resigning as governor. Now tell me who is really dumb?

I say it is the American People who pay to hear her speak, FOX media keeps her in the news (fox may not be dumb) and the people buying her books, and the list goes on.

What is tea party?

Founded by another opportunist to make money without actually working. What better way to become a leader and to live rich life other than starting a PAC to which dummies flock like Ducks?

so, thanks for conforming what I had believed all along.   45% of Americans are dumber to be fooled by a dumb shit.   To make a long story short, Americans love someone who keeps complaining and does not have a solution.    The President knows it and as a gentleman, he is keeping out of it.   The reason is simple as an old saying goes:  "if you throw a stone at a filthy and muddy water, it splashes back at you".

Obama said that Europe was a country, the U.S. had 57 states, and a dozen other silly things.  Attached is a link to Palin's Facebook.  However, that is linked to video of Obama saying these things.

Also, for the brain dead, PALIN WAS DEFENDING OBAMA (in that link).  She was not saying he was dumb.  She was saying that his mistakes are meaningless slips than anyone can make.

As to the left losing, it is the view that 45% of the people are dumber than shit, a view reflected in many other comments on the left, that will alientiate the middle.  

I love Europe and have been there at least 30 times.  But people like you make me really glad the continent is dying.  Even Germany, one of the few powerhouses, if facing what the politely call "an acute aging crisis."  The country is getting older and your smart young ones are leaving.  (There is a whole new German Colony in Los Angeles of Germans who said "so long" to the Fatherland.)

To get another point across, President Obama is a devout Christian and a wonderful family man.   However, he does not declare himself as one.   Sarah Palin does and look what she got?   An illegitimate grand child that you folks popularly call as a bastard.    Just yesterday she criticized the First Lady who is full of class and doing a great service to fight obesity in children and change it to healthy eating and exercise.   So what did Palin had to say about it?    Oh, this is another example of Government telling parents how to live and raise their family.   "Leave parents alone and they are capable of making their own decisions for their children".    Yes, she did make that decision and ended up with a bastard who is supported by Government Health Care!

What hypocrisy? Because Bristol Palin got knocked up doesn't make Sarah or her husband hypocrites.
A childhood friend of mine and his brother were raised by christian parents who were hard working people as well. They raised them well. Despite that, both of them choose to be unemployed drug addicts and drunks.  You would never believe they had the parents they did from knowing their lifestyle. Everytime someone fucks up it isn't bc of the parents!

Let us not forget, not so long ago, each state had its own laws for moving goods and services through the states.

Let us not try to define whether Europe is a country or not and what context Obama said it. If my recollection is correct, he was speaking of competition and trade and Europe becoming single for trade and competitive reasons.

But, we don't value context but value moronic sound bites to serve whatever ludicrous purpose we want to serve at the point in time.

Obama is the second intelligent president with an understanding of the present world since Clinton. Indeed, I am going back to Nixon era.

When you are a leader or claim to be leader, you are expected to measure your words before you speak. At least they should be your of how brain works and pausing for 20 seconds before they speak.

Politicians don't have the luxury of pausing for 20 seconds before answering a question.  And any politician who did take that long to formulate an answer--even *half* that long--would be laughed out of politics.

What's more, I don't buy the premise of the book, anyway.  Even for us lay people, to use such a "rule" in daily life is absurd.  

Don't be a pinhead.  Wise up.
