So do you all hate the oil companies every time you fill up? When you tax the big oil more who do you think pays for the tax? Do you think we would be better off with small oil companies ? I find it odd that we buy gas at such a cheap price and yet many on the left slander big oil.

Yes, I wrote that, Congress should lower taxes on gasoline and raise income taxes minutely to make up the revenue.  We can't really just cut revenue since we are in a huge deficit situation.

Since we have three branches of government, I think there should be a separate response in the executive branch.  The Justice Department should watch the oil companies for price fixing and collusion.

Trillions of dollars borrowed to wage Shrub/Cheney's oil war.

The extra hundreds of millions spent on medical care for injured/disabled veterans of said war.
(unless of course BushCo Inc can halt future GI medical care and benefits).

The untold medical costs now and in the future from not adamantly seeking and promoting a less noxious form of energy.

Don't kid yourself; we're paying between $10 & $15 at the pump (conservatively). The balance is being billed separately.

How do you dream up these insane concepts that have no basis in fact?  Like Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, and Coulter, you make these unapologetic and  oulandish statements as if they are factually true.  And when anyone asks for the facts or asks how you use logic and reason to make your way from Point A to Point B, you just huff and puff and pound your chest like the king of the jungle and refuse to engage in any sort of rational and reasoned debate.

How is it a foregone conclusion that high oil taxes necesssarily mean consumers will pay more?  Perhaps Congress can pass legislation that will impose a TAX ON THE OIL COMPANIES' PROFITS!

Yes we have a capitalist economy.  But when Exxon reports record-high quarterly profits that total in the BILLIONS, don't you think there just might be something wrong?

No one on the left is "slandering" big oil. They do a pretty good job on their own.

You have got to be kidding me or else you are so anti capitalism you don't realize what you are saying makes no sense... The undeniable fact when using reality is "If you tax the Oil companies more they will add the $$ to their costs.. They are going to make a profit whether you want them to or not no matter how much they are taxed.You should get on your knees and pray to Big oil because if not for them we would be paying many times what we pay.. Thnk logically for one minute .... A example ..Milk a renewable resource run by small businesses {compared to Big Oil} and looky here ... Milk is manufactured locally and processed locally and still it costs more per gallon than gas..{unless you but cheap milk}

"How is it a foregone conclusion that high oil taxes necesssarily mean consumers will pay more?  Perhaps Congress can pass legislation that will impose a TAX ON THE OIL COMPANIES' PROFITS!"

Breaking this down and compacting it I think the meaning is closer to: companies can't pass all taxes to consumers.

It's far more likely and real than saying, "Corporations do NOT pay any taxes. ALL corporations pass along ALL taxes to consumers."

Corporations do their level best to avoid taxes.  Why if consumers are paying them?

Yep, just as Communist as the State of Alaska, which provides an oil and mineral royalty to each and every resident of the state.

Now harryj, when are you going to stop being the Buffoon of the Board, and start contributing something besides your negative, mean-spirited insults? At the least, go out and get laid, write a review... put a smile on your face and quit jerking off to posters of Anne Coulter.

So that means that you are in favor of stripping away the businesses of thousands of tax paying citizens, myself included, and transferring our assets to the government, and you wonder why independent thinkers support the second ammendment.
Do you have any idea how many thousands of independents there are in the oil business? Besides producers and operators there are thousands of supply companies, service companies, not to mention the drillers and th treatment companies.

So your plan is to take away my company, and thousands like it and give it to the government. I am trying to think of a polite response, but I just can't seem to think of one.

In the early 1970s, six railroads consisting of the Penn Central, Reading et al, in the northeast part of the country entered into bankruptcy.  Their dire financial straits were the result of years of deferred maintenance, archaic equipment i.e. rolling stock and signaling systems and general disrepair.

The federal government under the guidance of the Ford Administration created Conrail. This federally run business enterprise began operations in April of 1976. Money was invested to rebuild tracks and signaling systems, repair rolling stock and buy new locomotives.

By June of 1981, Conrail had turned around and began making a profit. Previously, the federal government had given bailouts to these railroads and in return was saddled with more debt. In 1987 or thereabout Conrail had a intial public stock offering that produced two billion dollars back to the US treasury.

President Ford administration placed people in the railroad who developed the management structure and enacted the policies that made the Consolidated Rail Corporation a noted financial success.

You're perhaps referring to efficiency, and that is a problem.

For agencies that operate well: The US Army, The Marine Corp, (let the flames begin), the postal service, social security, the FAA, the Congressional Budged Office.

Those are the ones that I would tell you operate well.

The poorest: the White House, the CIA (due to presidential mismanagement), the FBI, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Army Corps of Engineers, the ATF, FEMA, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Fact of the matter, GaG, my philosophy is so contrary and contradictory to yours, nothing I could say would really matter. Even zinaval disagrees with me on this one.

I answered quadseasonals question... what I would do with big Oil.... I answered. It was simplistic to be sure, but sincere in its intent.

Do I want to take anything away from you? No.
Would I prefer you were generous enough and concerned enough for your fellow human beings to give up a slight portion of your wealth so others less fortunate could survive? Yes.

Am I a Communist? No. Communism always has been, and always will be nothing but a Red Herring.
Ask me if I am a Socialist however.... and my answer would be... in some ways, yes.

So tell me GaG... what would be the point of responding to you, when nothing I could say would ever be given validation by those with an opposing point of view?
Perhaps all that dope I smoke keeps me from being selfish and self-serving as well.

i believe that by your robbing GaG of HIS assets to satisfy YOUR vision of "wealth distribution".

And then you mask it in sanctmony

This is the core of the liberal religion.

First off, You are not talking about me givng a slight portion of my "wealth" to the less fortunate. You are proposing stealing my business of thirty years and giving it to the state.

Talk about being selfish and self serving, this  coming from a man with over fifty reviews, who talks routinely about drinking Johnnie Blue. Obviously you are not one of the less fortunate. I have an idea, lets take all of your "wealth" and give it to the state. Your lifestyle proves that you have more money than you need. Or are you only generous with other peoples money?
