dncphil, you are 100% correct in saying there exists a right to desecrate the American flag by burning it. You may not agree however, that I have a right to beat the living shit out of the flag burner/s if I can get my hands on him/them.

instead of the violence of the drug wars. Where is their outrage in re to their country being ravished by violence?

Flags are only symbols, I bleieve in fighting for ideals, but not for a piece of cloth.

I would hope that these same Mexicans will put this same outrage into fixing what's wrong with their, very broken country.

90% would have said the cartoon crossed the line.

I don't want to pay them, and there not voluntary. I don't want to move so I pay them. And my point is "I'll do my own thinking and my own voting.

The U.S. flag has been used in editorial cartoons so many times for years that it makes your head spin.  I don't recall anyone getting upset about that type of thing.  Don't bring up flag burning becasue that is a different subject and is desectration  (Personally, I think there is a right to do it, but it is one of those rights that you should not exercise out of respect for other people's feelings. I frequently moderate my speach so as not to offend.)

To say that 90% would have been upset just ignore 200 years of editorial cartoons.

national boundaries ment something. The drug wars in Mexico are a form of US imperialism.

The Mexican government has actively encouraged its citizens to violate the borders and sovereignty of the U.S. It has given them maps, supplies, etc.

Moreover, it has, through neglect at best, allowed armed incursions by its criminal elements into this country; terrifying and even murdering our citizens.

For all practical purposes, while the Mexican government may get along great with the government inhabiting the District of Columbia, the Mexican government has declared war on the peaceable citizens of the United States.

As in all situations where a state of war -- acknowledged or not -- exists; it is traditional to make fun of, desecrate and otherwise be irreverent to the symbols of the enemy.

Just take a look at the jokes, cartoons, etc. in the U.S. pertaining to Germany in WWI. There was literally a category of "Kaiser" jokes.

Nation's flags should not be desecrated.  Even in cartoons.

Mass produce these "offensive" images and strew them along the US-Mexican border.  Our friends to the south, who seek to enter the US, sans official documentation, to pursue a better life, will no doubt be fired up with nationalist ire and anger at the US gringos and reconsider their desire to cross into El Norte

I will do my utmost to muster up at least half an ounce of giveafuck, when I stop seeing images of illegals walking on our flag, throwing shit (as in human fucking feces) on our flags, flying our flag upside down, and other means of desecrating our flag. I promise, I will give a fat flying fuck about a stupid cartoon as soon as the people who want so bad to be here that they break the law to do it, show even an ounce of respect for the country that still gives them more rights than their own country. How about that?

And what if it were reversed? What if it were an American flag shown? I'd be fine with it. Our flag has been satirized in political cartoons hundreds of times. I see no reason to get my panties in a bunch about it. Generally the cartoons are symbolic and intended to convey a point. Nothing to be offended about.

Show me a picture of an American smearing SHIT on a Mexican flag. THEN I will say someone crossed the line.
