Just heard Obama going on about how this lipstick thing is making a mountain out of a mole hill, not his methaphor.

He is right.

BUT if he wants the election to focus on the issues, he cannot just castigate the other side when it strays into what he calls "distractions."  He has to stop AND DISCOURAGE similar tactics on his side.

The Dems just sent a team of investitagors to Alaska, and I assume they are not looking for frozen issues in the tundra.  They are looking for dirt or what they can use as dirt.

If Obama really wants to clean up the election, he can set an example.  This means recall Dem operatives in Alaska.  This means when Move-on.org puts out slime ads, he can't silently take the advantage without castigating them.

The rumors about Palin that have been refuted are prime examples, and Obama never complained.

Until he cleans up his side of the aisle, and stops taking advantage of his slimey allies, he just comes off as a weak whiner when he complains.

I wish Obama had just said, "If Palin is offended, then all she has to do is personally, publicly request an apology and I'll give her one.  Now, about that Iraq thing and the 4,000 plus killed for no good reason . . . . "

S.C. Dem chair: Palin primary qualification is she hasn't had an abortion

South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate " whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”

No, Obama doesn't get the benefit of the doubt on this quote. He already used up his freebies when he was running against Hillary.

While running against Hillary, he said at one point she was "taking out the claws", a rather subtle reference to the stereotype of women are who catty. So ok, give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Later, he said she was throwing the china at him. Another not-so-subtle reference to the sterotype of women who are histrionic and somewhat, shall we say emotional. But lets give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Alas, but then he says that Hillary is being too emotional.

How many different ways can this guy say "get back in the kitchen there, lil woman" before he is finally called the sexist pig that he is? When is he going to stop crying long enough to realize he creates all of these "distractions" himself? And when is he finally going to remember that he is running against John McCain, not Sarah Palin? From the way Obama talks, you'd think she was on the top of the ticket.

It is just another example of how bad this guy is on his feet. He doesn't think. His speech and outrage were very well done, but he was reading the script. All politicans use speechwriters but it seems this guy can't to order a cup of coffee without someone else writing the words down for him. Good thing he became a community organizer instead of a real lawyer. Still, no on hae explained what a community organizer does.

That is what he should have done, but arrogance such as his would not allow it.
