Time and a half and double time is market inefficient. So Trump is correct.  It's better to hire a second shift than to force workers to go beyond 40 hours.

When I consult manufacturers on labor shifts I review how long the project will be, how many hours needed. Then I’d recommend doing a “second” shift. But if it’s a short term job, then I’d say do the overtime and avoid all the unemployment hassles and the learning curb needed.

to the inefficiency of overtime.  Workers get tired, and so you are paying more for less production.  You start with the addition of part-time workers to supplement your work force, and then you expand them to full time as the demand for your products or services grows.  Demand spurs growth, but you have to do it intelligently, or your margins will suffer.

There’s stories out of NY how  he’d pay half of what he owed then dared the contractor to take him to court knowing that going to court would be costly and not worth it. A real piece of shit I’d say
There were contractors who’d refuse to do anything with him

...after being a successful business for 70 years.  Just one example of Trump's M.O.  He would stiff subs on the final payment of their contracts.  That's where the profit is built into the contract.

The cabinet maker hired an attorney to sue Trump.  He was advised that the case would result in exorbitant legal fees far outweighing anything the business might recoup.  Devastated by the nonpayment, the company's finances fell apart.  The business went bust within five years of the 70 year-old family business working for Donald Trump.

I use power tools mostly, but I also do a lot of hand tool woodworking. I have a nice collection of Stanley planes, hand routers, bit braces, tenon saws, cabinet scrapers, etc. I know people who do woodworking for a hobby and I know people who do it for a living. Small shops to big shops to garage shops. There's a pretty universal rule when it comes to building anything custom for a customer. You take 100% payment up front.

I was talking to a guy recently who built hand carved kitchen tables and chairs. I wish I was half as talented as him. He did custom orders, but he also sold pieces in antique stores. I was looking around at one of those antique malls in the middle of nowhere, and there he was selling his wares. I had half a mind to buy his entire set it was so beautiful. I asked him if he ever had a customer bail on a payment at the last second. He said, no, he always takes 100% payment upfront. He did say that he once had a customer change their mind and want something else instead, and that's when he first started selling pieces at the antique mall. I asked him if he had any other finished pieces in stock. He said nope, all his shop space is used for tools, and rough cut lumber storage. Sounds about right, my workshop is the same way.

I don't make any money doing woodworking. It's just a side gig because I'd rather build my own furniture than buy it. Would I rather have some awful particle board crap or would I rather have an end table made from flame maple and flame sapelle? I choose the later.

But I do have a side business building and repairing audio equipment. And in that business I have had customers totally flake on payments. After some time, you let them know they pay their bill or they're surrendering ownership of the equipment to me and I sell it to make back losses. It does happen sometimes, musicians tend to be flaky people.

One thing I've never thought of though is just declaring bankruptcy and then blaming it on a customer from 5 years ago. I'm not sure how that works. Maybe I'll go over to Home Depot and see if I can run into a few contractors and ask them if they've ever been stiffed on a job from years ago and see if that made them go out of business 5 years later too. LOLOL.

You also have no clue what the fuck you're talking about - you're comparing apples to oranges.  A $400,000. contract is a lot different than building a kitchen table.

Also, there are LAWS governing how much a contractor can take upfront.  You've heard of LAWS, haven't you willy - you fucking moron.  Even in redneck retarded Virginia there are laws governing how much a contractor can charge upfront:

Then they’re a multi-million dollar a year business. At that much money hell yes it would be worth it to litigate it. And plus you’re getting more business to take care of. You gonna tell me you’re bringing in those kind of jobs and then 5 years later go belly up because of a job 5 years prior? Stop jacking off, PigBapa. The owner was 70 years old and was likely looking to retire. Wanted to sell off the business, couldn’t find a buyer and just said fuck it. You run a business like that and selling off the tools alone will give you a nice little nest egg. You’re talking shit.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/09/28/i-sold-trump-100000-worth-of-pianos-then-he-stiffed-me/
I sold Trump $100,000 worth of pianos. Then he stiffed me. The Republican nominee is a callous businessman.
.
"My relationship with Trump began in 1989, when he asked me to supply several grand and upright pianos to his then-new Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City. ... I had a great relationship with my customers — no one had ever failed to pay. I was thrilled to get a $100,000 contract from Trump. It was one of the biggest sales I’d ever made. I was supposed to deliver and tune the pianos; the Trump corporation would pay me within 90 days. I asked my lawyer if I should ask for payment upfront, and he laughed. “It’s Donald Trump!” he told me. “He’s got lots of money.”
.
"But when I requested payment, the Trump corporation hemmed and hawed. Its executives avoided my calls and crafted excuses. After a couple of months, I got a letter telling me that the casino was short on funds. They would pay 70 percent of what they owed me. There was no negotiating. I didn’t know what to do — I couldn’t afford to sue the Trump corporation, and I needed money to pay my piano suppliers. So I took the $70,000. Losing $30,000 was a big hit to me and my family. The profit from Trump was meant to be a big part of my salary for the year. So I made much less. There was no money to help grow my business. I had fewer pianos in the showroom and a smaller advertising budget. Because of Trump, my store stagnated for a couple of years. It made me feel really bad, like I’d been taken advantage of. ... I delivered quality pianos, tuned and ready to go. I did everything right. And then Trump cheated me. ...

Hundreds Claim Donald Trump Doesn't Pay His Bills in Full. Dozens of lawsuits allege the businessman didn't pay what he owed.
.
"... A USA Today analysis published Thursday uncovered 60 lawsuits by ordinary Americans who say Trump and his businesses failed to pay them for their work. The list includes plumbers and painters, waiters and bartenders, real estate brokers and even law firms who helped him defend such suits.
.
The documents reviewed by the newspaper include:
o More than 200 liens since the 1980s that were filed by contractors and workers who said they were stiffed.
o Records released by casino regulators in 1990 that show 253 subcontractors on a single project were not paid in full or on time.
o Twenty-four Fair Labor Act violations by the Trump Plaza casino and Trump Mortgage for failure to pay minimum wage or overtime. The cases were resolved with an agreement to pay back wages.
.
"That rationale sounds familiar to Paul Friel. His family's cabinetry firm won a $400,000 contract to build desks, bars and slot-machine bases at Trump Plaza in the 1980s. After they finished and *****the general contractor approved the work,***** the company submitted its final bill. Paul and his father Edward were summoned to the casino for a meeting with Trump and his brother, Robert, **who told them the work was inferior** and they wouldn't get the last payment of $83,600. Donald Trump told Edward Friel he could still work on future projects, said Paul Friel, adding that the invitation undercut the argument that the work was not satisfactory.
.
"*****Friel said the missed last payment ultimately led to the demise of the company, which had been in business since the 1940s.*****"
.

The small business owners Trump never paid in full.
.
"  “It was like we won the lottery,” Beth Rosser remembers. Her dad, Forest Jenkins, had just secured a $200,000 contract to work at the biggest prize in Atlantic City: Donald Trump’s Taj Mahal. His company installed toilet partitions – not exactly glamorous, but important nonetheless. It was 1988, and a six-figure contract was huge. ...
.
"But what seemed like a winning ticket soon turned into a nightmare when the paycheck never came. ... Jenkins says his dad, who built the company from nothing, nearly lost everything. ...
.
"After years of fighting through bankruptcy court, the Jenkins ended up with just 30 cents on the dollar. Their company was owed $231,000, according to the bankruptcy claim filed in the case. The Jenkins family received $70,000. The Jenkins family realized they weren’t alone. Dozens of contractors who had worked on the construction were also getting stiffed. “It’s 27 years later. I grit my teeth every time I see him on television blustering about what a wonderful businessman he is,” Rosser says. ...

Dozens of bartenders and other hourly workers at his resorts and clubs, coast to coast. Real estate brokers who sold his properties. Ya know, now that I've decided to make the biggest troll on all of TER on my list, I remembered something from a couple of months back.

We all read and had a good laugh when hpy posted that Biden was going to "mop the floor" with Trump during the debate. Well, we all know what that outcome was. Biden was shown the door.

I later mentioned that statement just having a laugh over it, and at the time couldn't remember who posted it and didn't go back and look. Well look what out big FAT troll had to say:

The only one who mentioned mop the floor was CDL who interpreted what Putin said about Biden to mean that Putin thought he could "mop the floor with"
"No one." He says. "I repeat, no one" hmmmm. No one huh. I guess the board stalker missed it.

Well folks, bigPuss is a big liar and an even BIGGER stalker. Emphasis on the word biggest. That's why NO ONE, I repeat,  NO ONE, believes a  word his big FAT ass says.
