has coincided with the rise of Liberalism and European type socialism.

As he waxes poetic in that rant, I think of a few of my own...

We use to be great....

When people had enough pride to pay their own way...
When welfare was something people were ashamed to be on, and got off of as soon as possible
When democrats believed the best way to stimulate the economy was to cut taxes
When a majority of people actually paid taxes, not just 50%
When we tried to figure out how other got rich, and emulate them, not damn them

Yes, there was a time when we were great, the problem is belief systems like your is what is sending us down the shitter.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Fiscal Cliff nipping at your nose
Unemployment going up by the hour
And people left with no dough
Everybody knows the Turkey and the VP Joe
With the policies so Un-bright
Obama minions with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to get a job tonight
But they know that Obama's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and free goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is gonna smile
When they use their free cell phone and they don’t even have to dial
And so I'm offering this simple phrase
For taxpayers from 1 to 92
Although you’ve been taxed
Many times, many different ways
Merry Christmas mores coming to you...

I actually have a life so do not live on this board, so it may take some time to respond.

A like, perhaps you should get one as well....

I am no fan of GWB, so if you want to try to use him, go ahead, but you only prove what everyone on this board already knows, you are ignorant.

It start LONG before GWB, remember names like Tipp O'Neill?

Do some damn research, oh, you can't too damn busy trying to come up with cuss words.

You are a sad little man

You are one of these people who think they increasing taxes also increases revenues to the treasury.

That is such a childish view it is really sad.

Please explain why a hero of the left, JFK, believed the way to stimulate revenues was to cut taxes. Easy, because he understood a shitload more about economics and human behavior than you do.

You think people just sit back and say, OH WELL, guess I haev to pay higher taxes.

Take a look at the attached. You think you will get about 40% of their wealth, instead they say "SCREW YOU" and you get 0% instead of the 37% you would have gotten.

Your political beliefs work about as well as that "Ignore" feature you were bragging you used on me.

You are a sad little man...

" Exercising his understanding that "73% of nothing is nothing", he pushed for the reduction of the top income tax bracket from 73% to an eventual 24% (as well as tax breaks for lower brackets). Personal income-tax receipts rose from US$719 million in 1921 to over $1 billion in 1929, an average increase of 4.2% per year over an 8-year period, which supporters attribute to the rate cut."

Thank you for not bashing.   I'm sure the real solution and "the curve"  lies somewhere in the middle,  just as with Democrats and Republicans.   So I just have to say,  for me,  that "middle",  is Libertarianism.

I understand,  Libertarianism means different  things to different people,  but IMHO, we are individuals. Each one of us is different. Each one of us is unique in our own ways. This country was founded on the belief that man could succeed with limited oversight from his or her Government. Man should be free to decide which course of action he should take. If a man fails or succeeds, he did so with his own free will and his own choice at hand. Libertarianism combined with Capitalism is the ultimate in free will, freedom and liberty. If you want something, go get it. Don't sit back in endless depression believing that the system is rigged or that it is unfair. I'm a libertarian because I believe in the American dream.  We have all of these wars that are geared to end free will. The war on drugs, the war on poverty, etc... So what do we have, more drugs and poverty. People can be successful without intervention, they just need to be shown how.  I have always believed in the principle of "education before legislation"

Individual responsibilty vs the collective irresponsibilty of the government today was what
America was built on.  Individuals controlling their lives and taking responsiblity for it.  Currenty America is built on a collective irresponsibilty which manifists itself with the massive government we now have and most certainly will not be able to maintain

I am certainly not saying Libertarianism is perfect,  but it could be a point in which to turn  back to "the people"  the  "feeling good"  about themselves by contributing to society and being an asset,  as opposed to bleeding a society down to its bare bones and being a liability.

I am far from perfect but making progress one day at a time

Question:  who do you think is more perilous to society, Big Government or Big Business?  And why??

You are soo right,  but might that be due to the fact that Big Government allows Big Business to "screw people"  due to the fact that they  (Big Government)  was boughten off by Big Business.

I suppose,  the old cliche of,  what comes first,  the chicken or the egg,  could apply here,  In my mind,  I see it being Big Government,  as they are the necessary evil and Big Business is just doing what comes naturally to them,  which is "making money",  unfortunately not always of a  benevolent way of operating.

Unfortunately, the "human spirit" appears to be of that nature.

I do believe though that it is a new world and quite possibly the internet could be "the police" of the world instead of Big Government.  Think about it,  we investigate everything we purchase on the internet,  might that be "self policing" and might that curb the need for Big Government?   Just a thought and I appreciate yours.

Ya got me there  LOL.

We still need back off on regulations of everything,  they cost businesses and ultimately the consumer so much money we are not competitive with China, India etc.

Great discourse Laffy,  Thanks
