Because while, if the WaPo article is accurate, we may know what the FBI was LOOKING for, we don't yet know if they FOUND it.
Now let's assume Trump DID take nuclear documents. Why would he? Your scenario is one possibility but there are others.
Also, what if he's ALREADY done sometime with them? What if the horse is out of the barn?

The DOJ is getting for this raid, even from Dems like Andrew Cuomo and several famous Dem lawyers on the news channels, they have to come up with SOMETHING to make it SEEM like they were justified.   As I said on another thread, if they had found ANYTHING incriminating, it would have been leaked by now, so they got nothing.  They also have not released the affidavit used to get the warrant, which would show if there was any allegation of nuclear issues.  I'm guessing they are just making it up to cover their asses, but they are boxing themselves into a corner if the affidavit says nothing about nuclear concerns.  We are less than three months from getting the House Judiciary Committee to start an investigation on this.

I heard that Trump wrestled control of the limo carrying the nuclear codes and drove himself from DC to Mar a Lago and hid the codes in Melania's panty drawer.  That's why the feds were sniffing each panty to be determine whether they were hers or some that Drumpf placed there with the nukular codes.

I'm sorry to confuse you with some facts, but:
1) I don't know what news channels you've been watching but I haven't heard a SINGLE "Dem lawyer" giving any blowback on the raid. Quite the contrary. And does anyone care what Andrew Cuomo has to say? Talk about politically irrelevant.
2) Nothing has leaked so that proves the FBI got nothing? LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
3) They "have not released the affidavit" but they HAVE applied to the court to release the warrant and receipt. And if that was so damning, Trump himself has a copy and can release it without court approval. Be careful what you ask for.
4) The one who's been "boxed into a corner" is Trump. He desperately doesn't want this stuff released, but after all the demands by Republicans for the FBI to do that, he can't credibly refuse.
One would think your numerous blunders who have stopped you from making predictions by now. But not Carnac! LMAO!

No one said it's nuclear CODES, per se. And it's the independent DOJ and FBI who is investigating trump removing classified documents not the Biden White House . They recovered some of the missing documents in January, but apparently trump did not turn over everything. He defied a subpoena which resulted in the search warrant.  Lastly, I will stop reading everything you post because it's all partisan nonsense and fantasy.

the timing is wrong. Trump peed on the Russian prostitutes FIRST, then he called vets suckers and losers, THEN he suggested drinking bleach and THEN tried to wrest the steering wheel from the Secret Service.
Still, this is a general improvement from your usual drivel.

Yeah... If it were real? But this is soooo tailor made that it’s practically a cliché. I mean seriously let’s just in your wildest wet dream say Trump took nuclear secrets. Why in the fuck would he leave them in a locker, a basement locker no less in Mar-a-Lago? And if you answer “oh because he’s stupid” get off this board right now and never come back. If your answer is because he’s going to sell them to the Russians you really need to get off this board and really never come back. The Russians are so far ahead of us in nuclear weapons development it’s not even funny. Once Clinton took office, we haven’t done anything but cut our nuclear weapons up and decommission them.

Remember when Trump took office and he said he was going to modernize our nuclear force and everybody had a shit fit over it? Do you know what they did? they replace the 486 computers that were still running on 3 1/2 inch floppy drives from the early 90s in the silos, it was one of the first serious upgrades to our nuclear force in years.

Russia has been pursuing nuclear weapons development since the Cold War and we have it. If anybody needs to steal nuclear secrets of us from them.

The more this Sounds like the reddest of herrings. If the people from the national archives who had come down therer earlier saw anything “nuclear” they should have called 911 on the spot. The fact that the FBI barred his lawyers from observing the search? 🙄 yeah that totally shot their credibility right in the foot.

Remember this is the same FBI who when they raided Jeffrey Epstein‘s house in New York had a warrant insufficient to take the video tapes they found in his safe they sawed open and then they left with no one to watch Said video tapes... while they went and got another warrant. In the mean time the tapes disappeared.

From the article

Prosecutors showed jurors and members of the public a photo of the safe, which had been dragged by FBI agents to the middle of the dressing room. The hard drives Maguire said were found inside were piled on top of it. It also held jewelry, diamonds, CDs, and multiple passports, Maguire testified.

Maguire said that the scope of the search warrant didn't permit the agents to seize the hard drives and CDs, so she left them atop the safe.

When she got a broader warrant and returned to retrieve them, they were gone.

Yeah that FBI... they need to be either disbanded or a complete top done investigation and cleaning done!

You're 'looking' into the search of Mar-a-Lago.  You're also 'digging' into the  2020 "election fraud":

You must spend a lot of time investigating the election of 2020 and the search of Mar-a-Lago.  Apparently that's a top priority for you.  But as a supposed veteran you, along with CDL and SwallowMeat, have not said one word about helping fellow vets suffering from exposure to toxic burn pits.  You three stooges never served one day in the military.  Otherwise you would have been supporting real vets who have served.  Ultra lib Jon Stewart busted his ass for the vets (even though he also didn't serve) while you three stooges said and did NOTHING.  The only combat you three losers have seen is as keyboard warriors on TER.

"Leave no man behind"...unless they're being helped by Real Leader Joe and libs like Jon Stewart.  In that case you ignore fellow vets and let them go fuck themselves.  Partisan politics über alles!

Can you devote at least 1day a week to driving a DAV van? If that’s beyond you can you work at a VA hospital or clinic?

SARCASM ALERT ON!
.
Am I the only one or did anyone else notice that the released "Receipt for Property" left by the FBI for materials removed from Mar-a-Lago was TYPED AND PRINTED and not hand written? [image attached, below] Is that not PROOF that the FBI planned the whole thing in advance, pre-wrote and pre-printed the Receipt and must have PLANTED the evidence? What else could it have been? Do they want us to believe that the FBI has portable computers and a portable printer in their vehicles and that the TYPEWRITTEN receipt was prepared on the premises in real time? Pffft! A receipt can only be authentic and credible if it is handwritten!
.
There are claims by Team Trump that, while POTUS, Trump had a previously undisclosed standing order that anything he removed from the Oval Office was automatically declassified. Therefore, anything recovered from M-a-L that is ALLEGEDLY classified is actually NOT classified. If no longer classified, I am going to file document requests under the Freedom of Information Act because I want to see what all this trumped up hullaballoo is about. I will post the documents here after I sell copies to Russia, North Korea, and Iran.
.
Team Trump has admitted that Trump removed classified documents to the residential quarters in order to READ THEM at night in order to prepare for important decision making the next day.  You know: homework. (Sarcasm suspended: Mmmmggggg. Mmmmmmmgggggghhhhh. Yeah, right! Trump "read"? Trump "prepare"? Mmmmmgggghhh. Anybody have a cough drop? Mmmggg. Sarcasm back on.) Because Trump spoke regularly (almost every day) with Hannity, he needed those classified documents at hand while watching Fox News in his bedroom so he had something to doodle on.
.
The Search Warrant MIGHT be invalid!! It says, "The premises to be searched, 1100 S Ocean Blvd, Palm Beach, FL 33480, is further described as a resort, club, and residence located near the intersection of Southern Blvd and S Ocean Blvd. It is described as a mansion with approximately 58 bedrooms, 33 bathrooms, on a 17-acre estate." I don't know the actual data, but if the DoJ got that description from Trump himself, it is probably only 37 bedrooms (but 58 bedrooms sounds better), 23 bathrooms (but 33 bathrooms is much more impressive), and 12.7 acres (but 17 acres is more bigly!).  In other words, the DOJ may have been authorized to search a FICTITIOUS PROPERTY that does not exist and they searched the real Mar-a-Lago instead!!
.
SARCASM OFF.
.
Some Republicans are asking the most vocal Trumpists to tone down their rhetoric because there might be more serious stuff coming.
.
The actual warrant refers to "All physical documents and records constituting evidence, contraband, fruits of crime, or other items illegally possessed in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 793, 2071 , or 1519, including the
following: ...". From ALL of the news and commentaries I've read, those are SERIOUS crimes and not a lot of room for Trump -- or some other unnamed party -- to wiggle out of. I'm looking forward to analysis of the materials seized, analysis of the evidence, and, finally, THE FILING OF CHARGES AGAINST TRUMP.

Loooong article covering many issues. I like the John Kelly and Bolton quotes.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/08/13/trump-mar-a-lago-search/
"Trump’s secrets: How a records dispute led the FBI to search Mar-a-Lago."
.
"... According to the search warrant, agents at Mar-a-Lago were seeking evidence of three potential violations of federal statutes: a section of the Espionage Act that makes it a crime to possess or share national defense secrets without authorization, a law against destroying or concealing documents to thwart an investigation, and a law against stealing, destroying or mutilating government records.
.
"Government officials had worried as Trump left office that *****he presented what experts considered the perfect profile of a security risk:***** He was a disgruntled former employee, with access to sensitive government secrets, dead set on tearing down what he believed was a deep state out to get him. But Trump had spent years nurturing a growing distrust among his most fervent supporters of the agencies charged with monitoring those risks, the FBI and Justice Department. ..."
. ... ... ...
.
"A Trump adviser said the former president’s reluctance to relinquish the records stems from his belief that many items created during his term — photos, notes, even a model of Air Force One built to show off a new paint job he had commissioned — are now his personal property, despite a law dating to the 1970s that decreed otherwise. “He gave them what he believed was theirs,” the adviser said.
.
" “He gets his back up every time they asked him for something,” said another Trump adviser. “He didn’t give them the documents because he didn’t want to. He doesn’t like those people. He doesn’t trust those people.” ...
.
"John F. Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, said the former president had long exhibited a lack of respect for the strict rules for document handling sacred to the intelligence community, which is in the business of guarding the country’s national security.
.
" ***** “His sense was that the people who are in the intel business are ***incompetent,*** and he knew better,” Kelly said. “He didn’t believe in the classification system.” ***** ..."
.
"... The former president kept up a steady stream of angry online statements, mixing outright denials with near-admissions that he had indeed been holding sensitive material about nuclear weapons.
.
" “President Barack Hussein Obama kept 33 million pages of documents, much of them classified,” Trump said in ***** a statement Friday that was quickly debunked by the National Archives, which said it controls all of Obama’s papers.*****
.
"Trump went on to speculate baselessly: “How many of them pertained to nuclear?” he asked. "Word is, lots!” ..."
.

I like your "bait" analogy. Trump is surely on a fishing expedition for an excuse that won't be shot down or blown up by his own people within an hour.
.
In Trump's initial Monday Aug 8 full statement, he said:
"These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents." but the FBI had left hours earlier.
"this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. It is prosecutorial misconduct," except, of course, it was a search authorized by a warrant approved by a Federal court.
"After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate." Except that it has since come out that Trump continued to withhold documents, ignore subpoenas, and that his lawyers may have lied to the FBI about additional classified documents being kept at Mar-a-Lago.
"What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee?" Well, Watergate was criminal activity and the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago was a legal, court approved action.
And so on and so on for his entire rant.
.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-maralago-documents-excuses-b2145650.html
"Trump’s head-spinning excuses for Mar-a-Lago documents are already piling up. Insiders warn that’s bad news for him."
.
"The shifting litany of excuses and explanations that former president Donald Trump and his allies have offered to justify the presence of highly classified documents at his Palm Beach, Florida, home reflect his inability to understand the legal peril he could be facing, according to current and former associates of the ex-president. ..."
.
"Trump suggests evidence was ‘planted’: The next day, Mr Trump took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to claim agents may have been “planting” evidence. Those unfounded accusations came just before The Washington Post and The New York Times reported that the documents sought by the agents who searched his property may have contained highly classified nuclear secrets, ..."
.
[The "planted evidence" story wasn't holding up, so ...] "Trumpworld’s next argument: Trump simply declassified the documents.  The ex-president’s story began changing again on Friday after the magistrate judge who’d issued the search warrant for Mr Trump’s property ordered it unsealed, making public a receipt which detailed the FBI’s recovery of 11 boxes containing information classified ..."
.
[Then ...] "That evening, conservative journalist John Solomon (who is also one of Mr Trump’s official representatives to the National Archives and Records Administration) told Fox News the ex-president had a “standing order” to declassify any material he took to the White House residence or to his home in Florida. ..." [No one else seems to have known about this "standing order."]
.
"After that theory was met with ridicule from legal experts, Mr Trump and his allies then began claiming the 11 boxes seized by the FBI contained material protected by attorney-client privilege. And by Monday evening, one week after the search of his home and office, Mr Trump was accusing FBI agents of “stealing” his passports (which by law belong to the US government) and demanding the return of “his” property."
.
"One of Mr Trump’s former national security advisers, Ambassador John Bolton, said the talk of a standing declassification order is “almost certainly a lie”. Mr Bolton told the Times he was “never briefed on any such order, procedure, policy” during his time in the Trump White House. "When somebody begins to concoct lies like this, it shows a real level of desperation,” he added. ..."
.
"The changing explanations and rapid-fire release of new theories and explanations for what was at Mar-a-Lago have followed a similar pattern to other scandals from Mr Trump’s time in the White House, most notably the series of events which led to his first impeachment. Each time that information emerged which contradicted the defence he or his representatives had previously offered, Mr Trump would offer a new exculpatory excuse, all the while casting any inquiry into his behaviour as illegitimate and politically motivated. ..."
.
"“This [the series of excuses and claims of planted evidence] is for the court of public opinion, it has nothing to do with his legal situation,” said one former Trump campaign and administration official. ..."
.
"But the Trumpworld confidante said the people surrounding Mr Trump are largely divided into two camps — those who understand how serious it is for the ex-president to have had top secret documents in a storage room at Mar-a-Lago, and those who believe that the Justice Department would not dare to prosecute President Joe Biden’s likely opponent in the 2024 election, *****with Mr Trump in the latter group.*****  “He doesn’t think Garland has the balls to truly take him on,” they said. “And the people who think this is a political problem are drowning out the ones who actually understand how this stuff works.” ..."

Re: When Trump said the first day . . .
that he may fight the release of the warrant, he was just posturing to bait the Dems into doing it.
Yes, you do have to specify on which day ("the first day") Trump told particular lies because his crying will change day after day in the hope that no one will remember his idiotic fake excuses after a few more lying excuses obscure things even more.
.
I am looking forward to a Trump indictment. The FBI, National Archives and other affected parties (DoD, NSA) have to go through a lot of seized documents to protect and repair any damage done to the national security but I hope they can do so quickly. And they should be checking the documents for finger prints and spittle droplets and see how many unknown parties have handled the documents. The FBI will be able to get the prints of KNOWN Mar-a-Lago staff members for comparison but maybe not Chinese, Russian or other "tourists" visiting Mar-a-Lago and roaming around the property unimpeded.
