Trump's handlers have also probably prepared a variety of statements to deal with many scenarios, "good" ones as well as "bad" ones.

This meeting should be a step toward peace in the region. "Peace" will not happen overnight. There isn't even agreement on what "peace" should be (nukes, troops, unification, ...). I hope that there will be more steps forward (as with SK - NK meetings) but there may be some backward slippage along the way.

The games aren't until fall, still several months away, if sufficient progress has been made than "maybe" we won't conduct them, It's hardly comparable to sending plane loads of cash to them like Obama did with the Iranians.

As for Trump giving anything up, what Trump promised Kim could much more easily be an "empty promise" than what Kim promised us. The "games" are not scheduled until months from now and if Kim hasn't made any progress on his promises to us there is nothing stopping us from proceeding with the games as previously scheduled.
