Contrary to some expectations Kamala will likely present well in the debates.  Nobody is as bad as Biden. Her problem is she's going to have to sell her new found centrism after her very public and long standing extreme leftism. Statements released by unnamed people in her campaign have walked back most of her previous positions -- they are just poll testing positions at this point.  So she has to convince people that she isn't just a lying dog faced pony soldier.

The rest of us know nothing she says will be the way she governs. She's an extreme leftist and has been her entire political career. She will revert to form the morning of Nov 6.

Harris fared well in her debate against Pence in the 2020 election. A big bounce back from her terrible performance vis a vis Tulsi in the primaries. She shouldn’t be underestimated.

Tulsi Gabbert has been brought in to help Trump prepare to debate Kamala.

Good move on Trump’s part. Debating Kamala requires a lot more preparation than debating Biden.

Trump will rant with the "open borders, open borders" till the cows come home. Topic will be the Ukraine war, trump will go off on open borders...Trump will not address any of the issues the moderators bring up. He'll resort to going to to topics he rants about...open borders

Because Trump is a big child and can't change. I won't take Harris much to get under his skin. When that happens he'll go off the rails and debate prep won't matter.

I think it was Happy here who predicted Biden would call him names and Trump would lose it. Biden tried, and Trump just rolled his eyes.

It was obvious from the moment he walked in Biden didn't have it. Harris will be much more formidable.

Bottom line: Biden threw some jabs intended to incite Trump, just as Happy predicted he would. Trump just rolled his eyes. If you had been able to focus while watching the debate, you would have seen it.

Harris will be able to TRY some triggering statements that Trump hasn't heard face-to-face before. But I think that the prep team is probably anticipating that.

Normally, visual aids are not used in debates but I would like to see that rule relaxed for several reasons. Charts and Tables will be submitted to the debate hosts ahead of time for some fact checking.

(a) I think that many (most?) listeners / viewers do not get their info from print (hard copy or e-print) sources. They have been fed 10-second sound bites for most of their lives. Charts will be new -- and helpful -- to them.

(b) It is easier and faster to make a FACTUAL point with a chart. E.g., "Oil Production 2017-2020; Oil Production 2021-2024" or "Fentanyl Seized 2017-2020 vs 2021-2024" or "GDP 2017-2020 vs 2021-2024" and so on. IMO, Trump will LOSE most of those duels but the people listening / watching will be much more well informed by a chart in 10 seconds than if Harris (or Trump) tries to "speak" the data. (Anyone ever been to a biz or economics presentation while the speaker drones on and on to explain even one slide? Shut up and let the slide do the talking.)

(c) Some slides will more easily trigger Trump than a Harris talking point that he can too easily rebut with, "You're a liar!!!" "You increased the national debt by $8.2 T during your administration." "You're a liar!" vs. a CHART for all to see. I can pick dozens of published charts and tables that show their sources ("Data from US Treasury"). But one Chart I would REALLY like to see is the one below.

That Chart will make Trump lose what little control he has left AND it will show MAGAs that Trump's claims of "Biden is the worst Pres ever" and "I am be best Pres, except MAYBE for Lincoln" is a Trump fantasy.

I don't like the Q - 2 min - 1 min - 1 min (or whatever it is) format at all.  They are NOT real debates. It is too easy for a moronic showman like Trump to "win".

It’s OK to skip over the word salad body of his post. His conclusion says it all:

Trump is Trump and everyone already knows how and what he will do in the debate.  He's been there already once this year, does a zillion speeches, has had several press conferences and interviews.

Kamala on the other hand, hasn't debated since Pence and before that with Tulsi.  No interviews or press conferences since the switcheroo.  She's the unknown and that's what people will be interested in.

Reciting facts and figures is more a demonstration of memory rather than the content which everyone will forget 10 seconds later.  It clearly didn't work for Biden, he came out reciting a lot of numbers. Everyone was focused on his frailty.

They are both going to concentrate on general themes, their own positives and the other's negatives.

And yes, 51 debate experts are going to say Kamala won.  They've already signed the decree.
