Yesterday, the Democratic controller congress, thru extensive pork placed with any rep on the edge, voted to set a date (for Osama to attack the US)for the troops to be out of Iraq.  Hitler sure would have liked that

Apart from he (and BBrain) needing some lessons in proof reading or sentence structure, it made sense to me.

The "Let's Quit Iraq Soon" bill was jam packed with Billions of pork, mostly to attract the "Let's Quit Iraq NOW" crowd. The whole thing is what Al Queda's been waiting for (hence the reference). Also, Hitler would have cherished such a crowd had they been as vocal or powerful back in '44.

Remember when our fine Republican congress brought us these two doosies in the last term...

The Iraq war has lasted longer than the war in WWII -- you knew that right?

Plus, unlike WWII, Iraq was a huge mistake from the beginning, we should have never been there and we should not be there now.

In addition, in case you haven't noticed, Al Qaeda wants us to STAY in Iraq! It has been the best recruiting tool they could have ever asked for. Their ranks have grown by tens of thousands as a result of this stupid war. How stupid can you rightees be to want to continue with such a boneheaded strategy as this?

Oh, and Osama, what about him? Give me a break. This whole thing is a disaster and I think you know it.  

When are you guys gonna stop fooling yourselves?

Lets get out of Iraq and start focusing on the Terrorist in a smarter and more strategic way -- we're only playing into their hands with this stupidity.

You guys wanna talk victory or defeat? I've got news for you -- Victory is not about Iraq -- it is about Osama and his likes.

If the previous Congress had actually finished all the spending legislation they should have, then this bill wouldn't have to do it.

But that might have extended their 2-1/2 day work week.

And, btw, what does Hitler have to do with this?  And why would Osama use that date to attack the US?  He'd attack at any time, since he still has nothing to do with Iraq.

So I sound nuts?  Well to you maybe.  I'm writing this as a two combat tour vet (82nd Abn) and we view what is happening in Congress, NOW, as a combination of Hate politics, appeasement, propaganda fodder for the terrorists, and short sightedness on the part of the media.  They (and that includes Al Queda, are wasting their precious resources here in Iraq.  If they don't have to do that, and they do to stay relevant to their recruits, when we leave w/o victory, they will be in our neighborhoods.  They say so EVERY day.  So, OK, you want us to leave, fine, just don't expect us to protect you when they suicide bomb your next drug party.

Oh, and I have 3 degrees I'm so dumb! Oh, and all the fancy software you have for your computer, we don't have, so if it rambles or there are mispelled words, so be it!

No citizen or Congressmen has figured out how to get rid of it without an attack on democracy, just like campaign finance laws.  And any member of Congress can propose an amendment at any time before the vote.  See the problem?  

As long as the pork is somewhat minimal, I mean less than 15 percent of the bill by weight or costs, with the latter considered first, I can't too much complain.

If it's loaded down it, or if it's loaded with earmarks, or if the pork provisions are secretly inserted, as with Republicans, then I have a problem.  

Since there is no way to limit amendments, I just expect Democrats to show more discipline about it than Republicans.  So far, (three months into their term) it seems they have.  It hasn't been an industrialized pig farm with a lagoon of shit out back.  

I will add: they had a Democratic fund-raiser recently, where for $28,500, you could get a table with Nancy Pelosi.  

If that isn't business as usual.  I don't expect this to change overnight, but I am hoping that as the grassroots make demands, that access to her would be decided on a petition basis.  If somebody has over a certain number of signatures, they get to go in and see her personally.

Polling of active-duty soldiers indicates that you are in the minority.

So are we.  In fact, we're wasting LOTS more resources since our style of warfare is much more expensive than Al Queda's.

When we're not wasting billions of dollars trying to referee a civil war in Iraq, we'll have lots more resources to go after Al Queda where they are.  With all those resources freed up, we'd do quite well hindering their efforts.

Actually, that's not true. The war in Europe began in September, 1939 and in Asia, it was July 1937, but SO WHAT? Every war is different. Why not quote the 116 year long "Hundred Years War"?

Everyone I know wants the fighting in Iraq to end as soon as possible (who doesn't?), but until someone on your side of opinion stands up and is willing to take responsibility for the aftermath of leaving tomorrow, it ain't gonna happen.

It doesn't matter if we leave Iraq tomorrow or in 10 years.  It will collapse into the world's largest pile of shit shortly after our departure if we are the only ones providing stability.

The only chance Iraq has of becoming a remotely stable country is to get her neighbors involved.  The Saudis and the Iranians are the ones who can fix Iraq.  We can't.  It will remain broken forever unless we admit our mistakes, ask those nations to fix our mess and get the hell out.
