What’s it going to take to restore order and shift the focus back to peaceful protests?  

Two things are needed. At the tactical level, city leaders need to make sure they have adequate law enforcement assets (with the help of the National Guard if necessary) to nip looting, vandalism,  and arsonist activity in the bud.

At the strategic level, I think we need to see all the officers involved arrested before we can see a return to normal.

But when night time comes it's when the garbage comes out. The same protester are protecting or turning away from the garbage. It  takes L.E., business owners and regular normal people to go against the garbage.

Media, sports figures, VIP types, religious leaders, politicians all act with one voice.

 
Salute them with a Job well done but tell them their efforts are no longer needed.

 
The protests now are only doing untold damage in the areas of the people they say are being discriminated against.

 
The police are mentally and physically exhausted and need a break. When nothing more good can come from a protest, and only downside remains, time to call it a day.

Now everybody has forgotten about the Virus. So they want to be part of their "Revolution". So the more "activist" "progressive" side of the population is doing this. It's only a matter of time when the more "militant" start their thing.

agree with you.  But then, when I give it more thought, what will the protestors have accomplished?  I do not know the answer.  But how can we be sure anything will change?  What are our politicians, truly doing, to identify legislation or steps that can be taken to change the legal landscape in such a way, the chances of this happening again, have been diminished?

 
Takes REAL, genuine leadership to do this.  We need a national leader who will take the mantle and get the ball rolling in the right direction.  If Trump wanted a photo op, it could have been in the Rose Garden, delivering a speech built around this concept.  There is a vacuum that could be filled by fair, relevant, and decisive action.  Opportunity is knocking.

People have a right to peacefully protest and that's what most of them have done. A few radicals and thieves have taken advantage. THEY are the one who need to be stopped. The protestors need to go home when the curfew starts. Anyone else out on the street after that should immediately be arrested. It's not that complicated.
Hack is a fascist.
Here's a good example of the RIGHT kind of protest: white women protecting black protesters.
Not to mention the black men who protected an isolate cop.

Because I want people to use their freedom of speech and NOT force, to persuade people to stay home so people, mostly African-Americans, can start to put their lives and businesses back together? SERIOUSLY?

Am I wrong?

In my short time here, have seen it fly in BOTH directions.  Finally come to grips with it and decided I do not want to tailor MY posts that way.  Maybe if more of us, stuck to the issues and ignored the insults, little by little we would see some change.

 
It does get frustrating though, when a number of Trump supporters, outright deny or ignore the sheer foolishness of what Trump says or does as they attempt to shift attention elsewhere.  Shifting attention, does NOT change the reality of what they are attempting to avoid.
