when the latter told him he could not hold up certification of the Electoral Votes.
And then Trump's telling him if he didn't do it he wouldn't want to be Pence's friend anymore. The Trump quotes throughout make Trump sound like a 15-year-old.
Here's a really good summary.

Add to that his ass kissing support of Biden’s disastrous Afghan withdrawal plan, there’s an absolute case for resignation.

If he’ll do it to Trump, he’ll do it to Biden. The man has to go.

Because Quayle was the last VP called upon to certify the election of a President whose ticket beat him in the prior election. So Pence presumed Quayle might have explored his powers to refuse to certify.

It wasn't a "silent coup," not even close. Milley was reinforcing that there's a chain of command in any use of nukes. And Trump did in fact have a weird memo written permitting him to remove troops from Afghanstan and told none of his national security staff or DoD about it.
The coup attempt was Trump's.

I stopped watching CNN when they opined on the air that a missing airplane might have gone into another dimension.

****Did you actually listen to the video in the link you provided?****
.
Are you upset that Don Lemon and guests dismissed Black Hole, etc. as PREPOSTEROUS CONSPIRACY THEORIES? Or are you upset they DL and guests did not endorse and defend the PREPOSTEROUS CONSPIRACY THEORIES?
.
I am not going to transcribe the whole thing but:
.
Don Lemon: Whether it was a hijacking ... or something we don't fully understand. ... A lot of people [on twitter, etc.] have been asking about black holes and on and on and on and all of these CONSPIRACY THEORIES.
.
Noah Elbony tweet: what else you can think? Black hole? Bermuda triangle?
Deji tweet: Just like the movie LOST?
.
DL: ... and of course they're also referencing The Twilight Zone. ... That's what people are saying. I KNOW IT'S PREPOSTEROUS.  But [inviting guest Mary to address the points] is it preposterous, do you think, Mary?
.
Mary (Schiavo, Former Inspector General of the DOT): ... a small black hole would suck in our universe so we know it's not that. The Bermuda triangle is often weather. And Lost is a TV show. So I think ... I always like things for which there is DATA, history, crunch the numbers, so for me those [explanations] aren't there. But I think it's wonderful that the whole world is trying to help with their theories and I love the theories.
.
[More discussion of the search for Flight 370.]
.
NOTE: This was in March 2014, when people (guests) could politely address conspiracy theories and theorists and try to convince propenents that their suggestions are not credible. Trumpism came later.

The Malaysian Airlines crash / disappearance was the top news story in all media for days on end: print, TV, even the top story on local news programs, internet, twitter, etc.. Yes, it even got comical enough to be ridiculed by Jon Stewart (your link). Nevertheless, although CNN  (and other media) mentioned the crackpot theories being offered up on twitter and elsewhere, they did not endorse them and characterized many of them as "preposterous" "conspiracy theories."
.
Here's another Jon Stewart that popped up right after your link. Mess O'Potamia:

non-military people posting about "chain of command" issues.  They  have never been in one.   The problem with your argument is that Milley is NOT in the Chain of Command.  The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is merely an advisor to the President and has no authority or position within the Military to create any orders for other members of the armed forces or to carry them out.  So his actioned could, indeed, be likened to a "silent coup."  He was an  outsider, not in the chain of command, attempting to subvert the authority of the commander-in-chief.  There is no other way to frame it.

First of all, I already knew the Chairman of the JCS was not in the formal command structure, so thanks for nothing. BUT that doesn't mean he has no legitimate role, as Britannica says: "the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who serves as the chief military adviser to the president, secretary of defense and National Security Council."
He was in touch with the secretary of defense on this matter and certainly has a role in reinforcing awareness of protocols.
The point is, Trump was nuts and everyone knew it. He was doing all he could to subvert the election results and needed to be stopped.

he can tell his subordinate officers not to carry out any orders coming from the WH unless it goes through HIM?  NOT in the chain of command means NOT in the chain of command.  At least you looked it up and quoted Britannica while saying "I already knew that."   Sure you did.   LMAO

Milley was NOT some lone wolf on this. He was working directly with Esper, the SecDef.  It's part of his JOB.

The peaceful protest of January 6th . . . . .  okay, okay, the "riot" of January 6th, are you saying that Milley was psychic?  The events that Milley is taking heat for occurred in late October and early November.  it was BEFORE the election, so the narrative that Trump was going crazy at that time is false because Trump was sure he was going win the election.  Your timeline doesn't work.  So if you appreciate the constitution, then maybe you should join those who think Milley did the WORST THING IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY.  If you're talking about January 6th, your argument is complete bullshit.

From the reporting I've read, it was Milley's actions AFTER January 6th that are being scrutinized. He will be appearing in front of congress very soon. Let's hear from him directly before we prejudge him.

Said Esper knew about the calls, and Esper resigned on November 9th, so that certainly makes the subject calls BEFORE January 6th.   However there was a second call after January 6th,  which was merely to tell the Chinese that the US government is intact and stable after the riot. but that's not the same call where he said he would tip off the Chinese about any forthcoming military action by the US, which is treason.  That was in late October and early November, while Esper was still the Secretary of Defense.

The media reporting is that our intelligence agencies were reporting the Chinese were concerned that trump might preemptively attack China because he was losing the election and his rhetoric against China was growing increasingly hostile. So in October, 2020 Milley called his Chinese counterpart to ensure him there were no plans to attack China.  That call was reportedly made with the knowledge of the Pentagon and State department and it was within the scope of Milley's responsibility.  That call may have prevented China from considering a preemptive first strike against the United States. Let's let General Milley testify before Congress before you call him a traitor. Calm the fuck down. This patriot may have saved all our lives.
