learned that fundraising dinners were referred to and prefaced with the word rubber. I just simply do not recall the last one I was at (Habitat for Humanity), you know, President Carter's cause de jour, where anybody referred to it as a rubber {food} dinner. As far as disagreeing with "basic facts", I simply stated, with no opinion regarding my preference, that it was an interesting site. BTW, why don't you attack Baloney when his contributions and sources often times are a leftist e-zine. You seem to take his information like it was indisputable fact without question. It just seems to be so hypocritical. Don't worry about going slower, I'll be fine.
Beachbound posted what, in my opinion, (an opinion developed because the link completely lacked independently verifiable data, or a direct link to such data, I am not talking about a goddamned poorly setup government agency website) was a partisan post. This morning I heard that president Bush was to attend a $25,000 per couple fundraiser in Ohio. The sources of the information are verifiable, as they were CNN and one conservative tilted source. One question that I have for those who will venture an answer. If Mr. Kerry attended a fundraiser where each couple was charged $26,000, would his contibutors be any bigger "fatcats" than the people who will contribute the money to Mr. Bush's campaign? The fact of the matter is, both Mr. Bush and Mr. Kerry are pulling in big bucks from people who have motives attached to their contributions. Why would anyone cough up $12,500 each for a rubber steak dinner if this was not the case? I would like Beachbound to explain to me why getting a contribution of $12,500 per person is not being beholden to "fatcats". Mr. Kerry and Mr. Bush are simply pulling in far too much money for it to be sent to them as $100 donations that arrive in poorly addressed, crumpled envelops that the "financially distressed" but "committed" contibutor is likely to send in.
as in, why did the steak have to be a "rubber" steak. No matter what party you support, or don't, it does nothing to enhance the post. Now, if you wanted to make a point about fundraising dinners, left or right, and how rediculous it is to attach a price point to the meal, then you have a case that regardless of the quality of the steak, the meal is not worth it. However, we all know that the attendees do not go there for the food, but having been to a few of them, no Chef worth his salt would intentionally put out bad or even marginal product with that kind of price tag attached to it.
Rather than responding with sarcasm, how about just thinking about it a little bit. Again, although I do not agree with what you posted, you did well in furthering your point. Right up until you critiqued the food, that you didn't prepare, see or eat.
I stayed out of the first post, because it was pointless in my opinion, the previous month according to the site the #'s were reversed, so big deal, BOTH Bush & Kerry are raking in BIG MONEY like never before, and they both are doing so by skirting the new McCain - Fiengold (sp?) reform.
If anything it's not a Partisan issue it's a little guy versus the Big Fat Cats issue, and the little guy has lost his ability to let his voice be heard.
There is an old saying about "rubber" chicken dinners to describe the food at fundraisers and paid-speaker engagements. I thought that I would simply update it a little for my post, but apparently that bit of literary license completely flew over your head. Too bad, next time I will try to slow things down a tad. BTW, how in the hell does one disagree with basic facts? Mr. Bush attended or will attend a $25,000 per couple fundraiser, and Mr. Kerry has or will be doing something similar.
