Kerry meant it. He has contempt for people in the military.  Plus he is a coward.  Every medal he received in Vietnam is bogus.  On  just about every mission he went on where there was enemy contact, John Kerry received some kind of medal.  He got 3 purple hearts, ok lets have him show us the scars.  He self nominated himself on at least half of his medals.  The MD laughed at him when Kerry told him to put him in for a purple heart.

Plus, on one of the missions, the second swiftboat came under fire and the protocol was for all swiftboats to stand and return fire to aide the boat under attack.  John Kerry commanding the first swiftboat took off full throttle.  COWARDICE UNDER FIRE. JOHN KERRY WAS A COWARD UNDER FIRE.  As soon as Kerry got his third bogus purple heart--swoosh-- he was gone.  John Rambo Wonder Warrior Kerry was in and out of Nam in 120 days.  His commanding officer was glad to be rid of him cause he was a problem child.

Tom Friedman is always on the left.  He has never written an article favorable to Republicans that I can think of. And on the news show on Sunday mornings, he was always off the wall hard left pro Democrat on everything.

John Kerry may have gotten an Undesirable discharge from the Navy that was sealed.  One of the reason for his getting it was for his going around w/an antiwar petition while on duty as a junior Naval attache in his dress whites.  Then in 1978, Jimmy Carter, with the stroke of a pen, upgraded several thousand military discharges that were less than honorable to honorable from the Vietnam era.

You sure seem to know a lot about Kerry, but damn if your man hasn't kept his record hidden.

that a person could get something more than campaign ribbons without picking up a PH along the way.

Because ya know, without getting personal here, I've got a few "I was there, too" and in fact I was once with 4th marines.  So I know you don't get too many personal decorations (the odd commendation ribbon apart) from the Marines without talking to the corpsman 1st.

What beats the shit out of me is how you can have respect for a draft-dodger over a squid.

What beats the shit out of me is how a person can tolerate a person who says something like "I had other priorities" - because if you are telling me the truth here, and you were not totally insane, you also had other priorities, but you set them aside.

What beats the shit out of me is how you can figure that what a person says - fucking chest beating - somehow trumps what they do.  Or that you - as a civilian - would never ask if your prez is smart enough to keep people out of trouble.   Because lemme tell you, I saw this coming from day 1, and it's vietnam all over again.  I have no problem with misery; my problem is that if I'm gonna ask somebody else to be miserable, I'm gonna make damn sure it's for a good reason, and I'm not going to get his ass killed pointlessly - nor am I going to throw good money after bad.   Just because he had a bonehead idea to begin with doesn't mean we're married to his massive fuckup.   You make a mistkae, you GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE KILL ZONE - you do NOT stand there and save somebody's principles, especially when that asshole isn't even there.  You save lives first.  Then you see about ideas.

Now I will grant, I had a couple of truly dumb fucks, but most of them could not use a keyboard.   Even as stoopid as they were, I would not hand them over to be slaughtered pointlessly as GW has done to our people today.

WHAT THE FUCK is going on over there, that they don't know what they're chasing, can't find it, refuse to plan, and lose 20K casualties along the way?

Doesn't it occur to you that a person who refuses to disclose their service record might be hiding something else, too, like being a pathofuckinglogical liar?

Doesn't this smell like Vietnam, where we went after people did not bother us, trying to sell them democracy at the point of a gun?

Look, buddy, the only reason you point a gun at a person is because he's you're enemy, and you expect to kill him.  You cannot sell sandwiches or ideas with a weapon.   That is our failure - we have a phenomenal war system, but we fail to recognize that sales and political campaigning is NOT war.

Now one of the strengths and weaknesses of the American soldier is that he will fucking belive and do anything.   But that is not his duty as an American citizen.  As a citizen, his duty is to THINK, and not believe some asshole who comes on TV and says, "I am not a crook" because you know he's gonna resign the next week because he is in fact a crook.

And when he says, "We did sell weapons to Iran, which I denied last week; but we didn't finance them with drugs, nor sell them to release the hostages", well, I'm gonna tell you, a man who lies once is likely to lie again.

And when he says "we were never stay the course" well, you know he's lying again.

And when he says, "I didn't inhale" or "I did not have sex with that woman", then you know he's lying.

But you know what?  I would cheerfully pay for a chorus line in the White House if we could stay out of pointless wars, and consider it cheap at twice the price.

When you deal with politicians, yoou have to think in terms of 'no harm, no foul'.   The problem with the Democrats has always been their lack of ambition.  They're perfectly happy to fuck a few interns here and there, while the Republicans want to fuck the entire world.  Don't give me shit aboout this, geezer, you know it's true.

BTW, what was your MOS?

Dear GOP Geezer:

Your kinda right. Kerry finally spoke how he really feels, that, only us stupid ones are the ones who fight. In Vietnam, they were giving away medals to officers like Kerry, true.

But let's be balanced, both Kerry and Bush are from the same hypocrisy. Kerry's fellow skull and bones buddy Bush from Yale U., was heroically using his father's connections, to get locked up in a bar and shoot up shots of tequila. Cheney himself managed to have five deferments to avoid military service.

Talk about cut and run. To Kerry, Bush and Cheney we are just cannon fodder. All will lie, to get us to die. I had no illusions when I fought in Desert Shield and Storm that I was fighting for the oil. The slogans i.e. New World Order, save Kuwait was a bunch a geo-political crap, to save us the indiginity that we were fighting for the economic avarice of others and thats ok. Its OK, because for those of us who are willing to get our hands dirty know, that democracy is paid for in blood.

I never received a purple heart, thank God, but as a 91A and 91P, in a combat support hospital, I know of soldiers and marines who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. I am a better man, and American for having served.

If a Gunny should ever for President, I will be first in formation. They are the ones I trust. Take it from a buck SERGEANT us non-coms need to stick together, being a Democratic and Republican don't matter to me.

Personally I like to see a draft and start having some politicans who know how to shoot an M-16, set up claymores, and dress wounds. We have too many politicians on both sides of the aisles who don't know a rifle butt from their own ass, who are a bunch of wimps and easily send our boys to war.

but you're getting there.

You are right, Bush & Kerry came from the same place, same society.

But that's where they part.   Kerry went and served, and got shot up; and he came back, and said what he thought.   He's never pretended to be soemthing he's not.

Bush was entirely different.  I dunno how he got in the ANG, but he says he forgot where he was, and won't disclose his record, while he's sliming somebody else.  He's forgotten at leat one DUI arrest, and forgets what he says all the time.  He talks about others "flip-flopping" when he just plain lies, "we were never stay the course".

Any professional political class is a danger to the country.

I'm still pissed that the "liberal" media bought into the GOP spin on the Kerry issue. For anyone that can read and understood what the original text of the speech said or took the time to actually watch the video it's very clear that the line "you get stuck in Iraq" was a shot at Bush, not the US troops. There was no need for Kerry to apologize to the troops, only to the Democratic party for being such a screwup and having incredibly bad timing.  If there's anyone who is having their vote influenced by this incident then they probably shouldn't be voting in the first place because they're not smart enough to understand the issues.

if somebody isn't shitting on you, you're not doing your job.  Ya come home a dirty-assed mess, ya gotta clean up and get on with life.   Some day you're gonna be food for worms, and there's no percentage in dwelling on it.  Just do what you have to do until then.

I absolutely agree that there are lots of issues that cannot be compensated for money, and military service is probably the number one example.  The biggest beef I had was with leaders who could not know what they were doing to people, because they never got their hands dirty.   Cheney and Bush 2 are the 1st examples that come to mind, and Limblob is the 2nd.   I find it much easier to forgive a fellow who ran off to Canada than the one who got some phoney-assed deferment, and then spends his time preaching about what a neat thing it is for somebody else to go to war, and shove his nose in the dirt trying to keep from getting his ass shot off.

I don't care whether a man came from Yale or fucking Tijuana, if he's there when I need him.  I don't care what he looks like, or smells like, as long as doesn't sleep on duty, and is a fair enough shot.

I have a real big problem with people who think having Jesus in your heart (and endorse your check to the Party) is all that matters - because it usually turns out these are the parasitic assholes who can't do their own work.   These are the same fuckers who will do drugs and queers, and use that to control your politics.

When I heard Kerry at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) lauding his service, I gagged. What a phony. Thats why he lost.

...and yes Bush, Cheney and Limblob aka drug abuser are all hypocrites, too. Draft dodger is a draft dodger.

coming from a single tour, he stands out.  It's like the guy in the wheelchair, it can't be avoided.   McCain could try to keep his record quiet, but it wouldn't work, the press is all over you.

People like some sort of certainty or idea about who they are dealing with.  A man's confirmable record does not define where he stands politically; but at least you know you're not dealing with a fellow who forgets things - like where he was for a tour, whether he was ever convicted for DUI, what he was told about WMDs, etc.

It would be nice if people could just STFU and get on about their business, but it ain't that way; and it's more the fault of the GOP attack machine - look what Limblob had to say about Fox - here's a fucker who weaseled out of the draft for an ingrown asshole, claiming that Fox - who lost his career to his disease - is a phony.  Then he retracts, just like his boss "we were never stay the course" and calls other people "flip-floppers".  Republicans aren't flip-floppers - they're lying liars.

Limblob shits on people for drugs, and then cries when he gets caught.  It so happens that I spent a year racked next to an ensign with the same affliction as Limblob, and he never complained.
It's simple - rules are for people who aren't REpublicans.

That's fucked - and the GOP should get it in the ass, no vaseline.  The only problem with drafting them is that they're such a bunch of helpless pantywaists that you'd need some Sgt holding each & every one of their hands.   They don't have any commercially useful skills, so they go to Washington DC.

Blame the game not the player. Personal attacks rather than political discourse has been a staple of the American body politic since we had party affliations. It is a reason, George Washington aborred political parties. It becomes to esay to label, than actually discuss facts.

I like Al Gore, specifically, because he talks the facts. If he would have not followed his 'professional" political handlers advice and discussed the enviroment, an issue he knows about and was passionate about, he be President. I am certain of it. kerry well, he is a lost cause.

we may be stuck with the game, and need to make the best of it.

As far as your point is true, then it's clear that the problem of personal politics became much worse when the religious right stepped onto the scene, starting with Reagan.

The logic is inescapable:  they believe the answer to politics is not concrete action, but faith.  Measurements are not the point to a religious man; belief is.  So they can look you in the eye and deny the existence or usefulness of objective facts.   So the corruption of the Bush administration is not merely financial; it's moral and intellectual before that.

If you share faith, then light your candles and do your thing.  But politics is about working with people whose faith you don't share; and if you're going to fault a man for that, then you may as well just kill each other now and save the time.

So when Republicans talk about Democrats engaging in "personal politics", they are doing their usual - lying.
