Edwards definitely wanted to talk about health care and the economy a lot, kept coming back to it.
I think the flip-flop stuff is getting old - both sides can say it about the other.
Cheney seemed like a smart, no-nonsense guy, but he seemed old and tired too. Edwards seemed like a go-getter, very ambitious.

As for your view on Cheney's performance, I'll just say that it seems there's no crisis conservatives think they can't overcome without bravado, denial and testosterone.
Not to mention some subtle sexism and bigotry.

Yea, I agree. I also sensed a little bit of the smug factor with Edwards. Cheney's unfair insinuation that Edwards is just interested in being president (its not edwards' fault that cheney can't win the pres), combined with Edwards' annoying smile makes me wonder if much of the non-southern vote might be concerned about the slick factor (and edwwards ain't no bill clinton in terms of charm).
Their argument about the facts was a great example. Cheney seemed credible but more like an old man defending his record. Edwards seemed like a some young go getter but less trustworthy.
With 25 years in Washington you would think Cheney would have no problems. To me a tie goes to Edwards.
Who do you think won the vice presidential debate?

"Tie goes to Edwards". And you say the 2000 election bad math!LMAO.
I seem to recall my dem friends claiming that slick trial lawyer boy was gonna kick some old man coal miner ass. To me, tie goes to the incumbent and leader. Actually, wait, TIE MEANS TIE!
I just got from it that I don't really like either of those two guys. But I've seen Cheney go from rational member of Bush I 's admin to apologist for Bush II's blunders, so he's lost all the respect I had for him 5 years ago.
Lie Down with dogs- start scratching!
A thought it was a draw.
I give a slight edge to Edwards, (and I'm rather unbiased here).....Ok, that's a lie, but I was impressed w/the enthusiasm, & how well prepared Edwards was...No question, Cheney was good, but I think Edwards comes across as a more likeable candiate, which could be an important factor especially to someone who might still be undecided.....
Edwards did get Cheney agitated when he brought up Halliburton....Also, Edwards cited 5-6 examples of how the current administration has "flip-flopped" to.....
I didn't think the "answer to Howard Dean?" comment by Cheney was effective....I mean, Kerry won the first primary & had the nomination practically secure in early March; as he won all but one state...
Maybe Cheney was exasperated about the repeated (tired?) Halliburton references because the Congressional inquiry just exonerated Halliburton and DOD on the no-bid contract issue. Something about "No-bid contracts are appropriate when there is only one company capable of providing the service."
I think Cheney's comment about marginalizing Dean was right on (Kerry voted against funding to co-opt the Dean platform). I just fear that it went 20,000 feet over the heads of most voters. Same as Cheney's argument about Medicare: Its the Democrat-supported benefit mandates and overall rising costs that drove up premiums.
and I really do have to say, that pretty boy sure is FINE
Don't fool around with Dr. Evil.
Edwards had his ass sliced off and handed back to him last night.
RLTW
Yes. Kerry's own advisors said it. I still agree with them. Now if your referring to post debate spin (which both sides do) the Kerry Campaign won hands down.
RLTW
Well, I disagree (shocking). I do believe Cheney edged Edwards (IMHO, Cheney calling Edwards on his Senate attendance was embarassing) but not to the degree Kerry did over Bush.
If Edwards had ``his ass sliced off and handed back to him'' then Bush had his dick cut off and stuck in his ear (a Q-tip, no doubt).
He said that he never claimed there to be a link between Saddam and 9/11. Of course, right after the debate NBC showed the clip from Meet the Press where he said exactly that.
war.
