Is there any doubt that 100 years from now (if we haven't destoryed ourselves) Bush will be seen as the worst president in American history?  Primarily, I believe for how he destabilized the entire Middle East by invading Iraq.  And how that ultimately led to America's downfall as the dominant world power.

Because it was, you know, so stable before.

You must be too young to remember Carter.

Minority Americans(whites, blacks, asians) in 100 years will agree with you and revile his memory. The Hispaninc majority will have shrines to his memory and worship him and Sen Kennedy for beginning the legal takeover of the United States. My betting is that in 100 years he will be bigger than George Washington.

Ain't that the fuck'n truth!

I'm not xenophobic; But here in SoCal when you drive by most public schools when the students are coming or going ya start to wonder if there is a Caucasian couple procreating ANYWHERE.
Too add insult to injury the Mayor of Los Angeles
repeats most every comment he makes on the news or a speech in Spanish.

The Conservatives have sold out the American culture for cheap labor

The Liberals have sold out the American culture for a voting block.

I am so fucking tired of the racist and elitist complaints that the ethnic face of America, and especially Southern California, is changing so dramaticallly.

Europeans came to America,  and with much bloodshed they consistently and systematically drove Native Americans off the land on which they lived and which they had treated with great respect.  The Native American population was also decimated by diseases brought by the white Europeans.  Today, the poorest community in America is a Native American reservation in the shadows of the Black HIlls of South Dakota.  Generations of children have been fed the glossy storybook lies that absolve the Anglos of any guilt.

The Hispanics are not trying to drive Anglos out with violence and bloodshed.  Even immigrants who come here illegally, do so simply with a desire to work hard for a better life. As I see it, there's nothing wrong with that.

I got no problem with immigrants looking for a better life. Our American history is an amalgam of immigrants coming here for that. But THEY assimilated, THEY learned the language. They adapted to OUR culture, and took pride in doing so.
What we got now is an infestation of parasitic opportunists milking every facet of our largess and welfare system while they send their earnings home to their home country and squirt out kids that in 18 years will be able to vote for even more “entitlements” for them.

In the infancy of our nation we had slaves and committed atrocities against the Native Americans here. Slavery was abolished and Native Americans now receive $20,000.00/month from the profits their tax free casinos rake in.  Do I and every other Anglo American now have to give up everything and roll over and die in atonement for the transgressions or savvy land deals of our forefathers?

The majority of the casino's are not owned by legitimate Native American tribes.  Steve Wynn tried to get a gaming license with a "tribe" as the owner on paper.  There was a cover story in Time Magazine several years ago that revealed the truth about these Native American gamiing licenses.  I suggest you go do a little research before you spew more vitriolic hate and anger.

I must be very difficult being you and walking around bloated with so much vitriolic hate and anger.  Do some research on TER. Perhaps getting laid will mellow you out.

In the heat of the moment, Bush II is the safe odds-on bet as WORST PRESIDENT EVER.   But we'll all be gone in 2107, and historians and popularizers and "educators" [the quotation marks are fot you, Bizzarro!] yet unborn may and will interpret these times quite differently from what we are capable of in the heat of the moment, mired in our parochial POV conditioned by our fears and our interests.  Time will tell.

Consider this :  during his entire term in office R W Reagan was considered [by many, most of them liberal in their political inclinations] to be on the short list of WORST PRESIDENT EVER.  Now, a scant 18 1/2 years since leaving office, many have come to feel differently [not me, not anyone i know, but hey, I'm a congenital isolate and need to get out more].  Anyway, working in descending chronological order from the incumbent and working backwards, here's my top ten contenders  for WORST PRESIDENT EVER :

1.  Dubya [it's almost, ya know, case closed];
2.  R W Reagan ;
3.  J E Carter ;
4.  H Hoover ;
5.  W Harding ;
6.  U S Grant
7.  J Buchanan
8.  F Pierce
9.  M Filmore [the most obscure Prez, as well] ;
10. Harrison / Tyler  [OK, a tie].

Selling out to the immigrants/undocumented : Here we go again, a great topic.  It's worse than we think [if you're a pessemist] as a hugh chunk of the political spectrum has some partial vested interest in the continued inflow of the foreign-born.  And these interests cut across Dem/Rep lines :

1.libertarians/free market types : the "open borders" trope, cheap/cheaper labor.  These folks need to read something other than the Wall Street Journal and CATO Institute publications ;

2. GOP : cheap labor for big business, AND a desire [possibly stillborn] to develop at least one sizeable ethnic voting bloc to counter the African-American voting block of the democrats ["Hispanics" being the obvious choice [think Cuban-Americans in Florida], but maybe one of the larger Asian-American groups might be recruitable].  This of course conflicts with the racist whites guys of the south [hold the angry respones, this is irony] who left the Dems to join the GOP and now form the core of the  GOP's geographical base in the South ;

3. Dems:; more ethnic voting blocks for urban political machines [but this goes only so far, as there is a natural conflict with another important Dem interest group, Labor].  And a possible pretext to expand the gov't to assist/police this population? ;

4.liberals/radical left :  tediously predictable bleatings about the PC/diversity/multicultural tropes. Natural sympathy for the underdog types. Talk about the road to Hell being paved with good intentions! Personally, there's only so much of that insipid swill [PC/multiculti/diversity blathering] I can stomach. I do enjoy reading critiques of it though, very much, the more sacrcastic and mean-spirited the better.

It is natural to be angry and annoyed and confused  and even frightened about newcomers disrupting established patterns and ways of life in one's community.  But, we all know the line about America being a nation of immigrants.  These folks ain't the first, and they ain't gonna be the last.  I too get very annoyed at these fellows bringing their mores and folkways to our fair land.  Especially when it involves loud voices in unfamilar tongues, crummy music inevitably played way too damn loudly, very questionable patterns of annoying and often anti-social public deportment and the consumption of strange and pervasively odiferous foodstuffs. Especially when I have to endure direct exposure to all of that! It would be a lot less threatening and annoying to us if these folks would acculturate [learn] before trying to assimilate [join the rest of us]. I think this is the main difference between these immigrants and the immigrant waves of the past.  It's sadly exacerbated by the unwillingness of society, or at least the leadership sectors of our society, to insist that these folks discard the past and adapt to America, as was the practice in the past. Immigrants are, in a large sense, here entirely by our sufferance.  And they have no "rights" to entry into our political community other than what OUR society/polity deems appropriate to grant them. At a minimum they ought to remember that simple fact, appreciate the opportunities we provide them, and keep a low profile for at least a  generation; unlike young children, being neither seen nor heard.  Obvious exceptions to be made for the young, hot and exotic womenfolk of these groups, of course! [Yes, I apologize  -- i'm fully aware how sexist and chauvanistic and patronizing that last comment is.  But anything for a cheap laugh]. And THAT practice/policy worked out pretty well up to now.

Takeover : the brown menace?  Yep, these fellows reproduce faster than the native born, but that supposedly changes over time in a regression-to-the-mean process, where immigrant birthrates fall to levels of the native born.  But a more interesting question -- if these fellows, by virtue of demographic change and dint of political organization are able to gain an outsized influence in this country's future politics, how is that a takeover?  They're only doing what immigrant urban political machines have done since the 1840s.  This time, it's native born white Americans, unilingual in English, pretty much all of whom are descendants of some earlier European immigrant types in the past, being displaced. [And you're aware of the saw about us changing them as much as they change us?] I think that's what's making the understandable anger at the govt's incompetence and fecklessness over decades on this issue so overwhelming.  And make no mistake about it -- the feds have been criminally irresponsible and incompetent on immigration for close to half a century.  Good thing we "won" the Cold War to make up for it! So, it's no wonder that a lot of people are very, Very, VERY pissed off.

Well, no answers here.  Just wanted to share some ideas.

the real source of the problem is the welfare system that you mentioned in your post;  not the influx of immigrants.  The welfare system attracts the "wrong" crowd.  That's not to say the majority of immigrants come here to work hard and prosper.  Nothing will ever be fixed if the US Government continues to grow larger and larger whiling slowly  stealing more and more of the little liberty us citizens still have left.

Try some hands on, in your face research around Beaumont/Banning in Southern California. You'll find a huge problem of alcoholism and drug abuse in the Native American community thanks to the local Indian casino supplying monthly "crazy money" to listless, ambitionless, uneducated tribal members.
But we wouldn’t want to trouble you with a 100 mile trek from the security gated enclaves of the limousine liberals looking for a way to relieve their over privileged guilt from their Hollywood fantasy life by influencing more PC social programs for the over stretched working middle class to pay for.

"walking around bloated with vitriolic hate"?
Nope!! I just know a steaming crock of shit when I smell it.

Considering 90% of the workforce I encounter on a daily basis can't ring up an order unless the cash register has pictures on the fuck’n keyboard I think the Harvard English department will forgive my transgression.
