I had hoped this talented graduate (hopefully not an inbred), would have shown the same level of outrage he showed over the murderous act of killing that noble and unforgettable young man, a hero in my mind, Nicholas Berg, as the innocent Iraqi prisoner killed by being punched in the head with the bag on, the despicable woman soldier showing thumbs up over his dead body, and anger towards the rape of an underage Iraqi boy in our custody in that prison.
But, that was expecting too much. Our staff attorney here believes in a set of principles that puts him right up there with those nut cases in that Church in Idaho!
My own ancestors invented rape, bigotry, and pillage in Europe, but we all have to learn and grow up, IN THIS LIFETIME!!!
Sooner or later, in this age of nuclear weapons, we MUST learn to live with one another. We as Americans, should be truly the beacon of freedom, civility, and justice. When Europe and the entire developing nations have turned agasint us, it is time to re-think all of our actions and policies.

If you look back on the postings on the General Board for the months leading up to George W. attacking Iraq in 2003, you will see many of us on the "left" advising against this course of action. Our primary arguments were that the UN inspections seemed to be working, and that they would be able to check Saddam Hussein's development of any weapons of mass destruction. Further, we discussed the likelihood of any US occupation of Iraq turning into a quagmire. As historical reference, you didn't need to go further than "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by T. E. Lawrence (better known as "Lawrence of Arabia"), which sets out why insurgent forces in Iraq could successfully withstand colonial occupation.
Fast forward to May 2004. With the Iraqi occupation oscillating between a quagmire and a nightmare, it seems as though George W. and Tony Blair are each looking at major defeats in the upcoming elections. Imagine how secure in their positions of power each of them would be, if they only would have not invaded Iraq.
And what's an important lesson to the right on this board? You should always pay attention to what your opponents have to say. You might just learn something.

It's not so much that who you are bothers me - I appreciate your efforts to see both sides.
This is long and I don't have time to write a short version but just want to get it off my chest (sorry for length).
As far as my ``Killing all Muslims'' comment this was directed at the Rant guy in full but at you only in part AND I ADMIT IT IS EXTREME - it was motivated by your exchange with sdstud where he was trying to make the point that all the prisoners are not terrorists and we should treat them all humanely - your response was that the terrorists ``Are bent on destroying your way of life''. This is no doubt true, but does not address sd's point and seems to advocate treating them all like terrorists [ironic - I lumped you together with OffonARant].
Next, the Viking's post was IMHO not juvenille - Sure he includes some juvenille hick comments (those are just so hard to pass on) but the content of his post is very important and makes valid points (again, IMHO). Instead of addressing his comments you say he is being juvenille - given that you are not above insults I found this hypocritical and avoiding the issue.
And last but not least, your nappy comments. Now, to you this is just ``PC idiocy''. If so, then why did you protest so much ? Moreover, in one of your posts you describe a scenario where you say to your black sparring partner ``my kids are nappy, your kids are nappy ...'' - If you are so sure your friend would not be insulted then why don't you start that exchange with just ``your kids are nappy ...'' - I suspect that would be an interesting sparring session. We all say things we are sorry for - If you don't care (the left are just PC idiots) then my all means stay your course (don't make lame excuses), but if you think you may be wrong then please stand up.
I suppose I was so upset about this because you were so insulted by being labelled a racist due to your Republican affiliation and then you make this comment followed by not so convincing excuses (at least to me) - Indeed, I was convinced that you were that rare Republican that can see both sides, but then came the comment (+ others)- Guess I was just disappointed (not that you care - this is mostly personal therapy).
