With the left clinging to the narrative that it was an insurrection they are perpetrating a lie for political ends.  

Again, the definition of an insurrection is as follows:
"A violent uprising against an authority or government."
It has NOTHING TO DO with the success, or lack thereof, of the uprising in question.  
For example, what BLM did was a riot as it was NOT directed at government.  
CASE CLOSED. Move on with your life bro.

If so, congratulations! You've succeeded! Because Jan. 6 did not exist in a vacuum. It was the final, desperate act in a broad conspiracy to create fake slates of electors; enlist state legislators to nullify the legitimate electors; enlist state election officials to "find" new votes for Trump.
And the purpose of Jan. 6 as more than a simple riot was almost fulfilled. The rioters interrupted the lawful certification of electoral votes and nearly succeeded in getting it postponed to the following day. During the delay Trump was working the phones to friendly Senators trying to get them to vote his way.
So, yes, taken all together it was an insurrection.
And of course you won't believe that because you are locked into an alternate reality. One that is based on lies you desperately wish to believe.

Government property was less than 1% of the damage. Far less. How did you possibly ignore the 99.9% of privately owned businesses, homes and vehicles? Nice cherry picking!

An "insurrection" and a "revolution" are totally different words with different meanings. I dont hear anyone calling January 6th a revolution (i.e. an attempt to overthrow the government) for it wasn't. What is was, was a "violent uprising against the government" to stop a duly elected man from taking office. THAT is an insurrection per its very definition.

We are talking about federal courthouses, the police stations, the Secret Service having to take the President into the bunker.

Almost all the violence was directed at privately owned entities and NOT governmental ones. Now, compare that to Jan 6th which was SOLELY aimed at a federal building, and not just any federal building; the same one in which the election would be formally certified on that specific day and the same one that Trump told them to go to. It is disgusting that Rs try to make any comparisons between BLM riots and the actions taken by insurrectionists on 1/6. Vile, really.
